New Yarn

Mr. UPS brought a box of Noro - meet Kakigori.

Kakigori from Noro is a DK weight blend of cotton, silk, viscose, and polyamide. This lightweight yarn is perfect for knit or crocheted sweaters, ponchos, and accessories, and with 605m per ball, there’s so much you can do with just one ball!

We received 5 colours in our order and more will be coming later this summer.

Lynn took home a ball of #2 to knit another Ranunculus. She loves hers but Noro discontinued the yarn she used.

Lynn used Noro Kumo - 2 skeins with a bit leftover. By her yardage we think that she will be able to knit the sweater with one ball of Kakigori.

Ranunculus is a top-down round yoke pullover with lace and textured stitches. I have designed yoke pattern to look like wearing layers of necklace. I have knitted short rows between neck ribbing and yoke pattern not only on back bit also on front, so that neckline has a bit boat neck shape and yoke pattern has necklace look. The round yoke has ample depth and finished pullover has cropped length so that you can lay it over dresses or high-waisted skirts and pants. If crops aren’t your style, please adjust body to your favorite length.

You can choose from smaller or wider neckline,  and short sleeves or long puff sleeves with/without diagonal cuff line.

You can use lace, light fingering to worsted weight yarn. The degree of transparency depends on the weight of yarn. Knitting with thin yarn on big needle gives light, transparent and airy texture to this pullover. Using thicker yarn or holding two yarns together adds more weight, and more structured look.

I write a lot about Ranunculus but haven’t read through the pattern page on Ravelry for a while. The sweater is now available in 11 sizes. I just purchased it and will read through it tomorrow better. From quickly skimming the pages it looks to be well written.
Lynn straightened up our Rasta shelf and it is looking good. The tags are nicely tucked away and the shelves are labeled to make it easier to find colours.

It’s 8:30, dad and Lucy have left, the dishwasher is going and it’s time to sit and knit.
