Ranunculus #2. Lynn loved making the sweater so much the first time that she made it again.

Lynn used yarn from The Old Soul Fiber Co. - one strand of Soul Slub and one strand of Soul Single held together. She used about 1.5 skeins of each yarn. 

The sweater feels great. It is light - something Lynn can definitely wear in the summer or later in the year with a long sleeved shirt under it.

Another option for the sweater is a strand of Soul Slub with a strand of Soul Mohair.

These pictures were taken when Old Soul arrived. Unfortunately it arrived just after we did an outdoor event last September. We will have it at our next outdoor which could be happening in the very near future. Stay tuned for details.

The Toronto Knitters Frolic has been the premier fibre event of the season for nearly 20 years. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed so many things, but our love of yarn and our fibre community remains as strong as ever.

I’d like to say that it’s time to knit but it’s time for bed. Lynn and I are going to be busy tomorrow morning packing orders. Wednesday is pick up day and we want to get all orders from this afternoon ready in the morning - we don’t want anyone waiting for their yarn. You know, they probably don’t have any at home 😘

Knitters Frolic

I received an email late last night with news that the Toronto Knitters Frolic has been cancelled for this year.

The Frolic Planning Committee is very sorry to inform you that this year’s Knitters Frolic, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2020 has been cancelled due to concerns about the developing COVID-19 pandemic. 

This decision was not taken lightly, and was made in response to the recommendation from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, regarding the immediate suspension of all gatherings over 250 people. The health and safety of our vendors, volunteers, and attendees is our utmost priority. 

Although we are temporarily unable to meet in person, we are keen to continue to support our knitting community and vendors “virtually” through the ongoing DEstash/REstash MAL. We hope you will join us via Ravelry. 

In the meantime, please stay well and take appropriate precautions to protect yourself and others.

We are sad to hear this but totally understand. The Frolic Planning Committee didn't have a choice.

We are going to put our thinking caps on and come up with something for that day. We're throwing around ideas and will let you know in the next few weeks.

We are being very cautious at my house. There is a lot of hand washing and not very much going out. The unopened thermometer that I bought months ago has come out. In the store we are wiping door handles, phones, the credit card machine, the cash register.....

You might want yarn but don't want to be in contact with others. That's okay. You can call the store to place an order or do it online and choose 'In Store Pick Up' for your shipping option. Give us an hour and call when you get to the store. We will bring it out to the parking lot for you. Curbside service but we won't be on roller skates.

New Project

As I was getting the cash ready yesterday morning Sarah walked around the booth with my phone.

I made the Merino DK sign and Lynn hung it. Neither of us realized that I had the price wrong.

The show ended at 4:30 but by 4pm we are ready to start packing up. We aren't allowed to so we start 'tidying'. One of the things we did was have Sarah and Lynn try on different garments. This way we were taking them down but not packing quite yet.

I want to sit down and knit but swatching for a new sweater wasn't grabbing my attention. The six skeins of Dream State on my counter were.

Great Day

Thanks to all who visited us at the Toronto Knitters Frolic today. We had a great day but I am super tired. This is going to be short with a lot more pictures tomorrow.

Our Throwbacks were a hit. People would walk in the booth and see two of us and comment on our sweaters. Then we pointed out that we were all wearing them. The cardigan is super comfortable to wear.

Thank you to Wannietta, Sarah and Lynn for all their help. Thank you to dad and Beth for helping set up and take down. And a huge thank you to Cathy for working in the store.

We've decided on the sweater we are going to knit for the Knitters Fair. I will be using the new Vintage DK from Primrose. This is my new bag from Zig Zag Stitches.

Now it's bed time. I've been up for 16.5 hours and I don't think I can write a proper post.

We're mostly set up. Tomorrow morning we will do signs and garments. Now I have a small seam to sew and about 15 ends to put in. Then it's bed. 5am will be here soon!
