Ready to Go

The ends are sewn in and it's ready to make the road trip to Washington.

The colour was scaring me while I was knitting the shawl. It is very bright. But now that it's finished I'm loving it.

Ambah's latest pattern, Annisa, was released today.

Fun to knit and wonderful to wear, Annisa is an assymetrical wrap that will let your creative side out to play. Team a solid with a gradient, speckles or bright yarn for playful stripes, add a bold or subtle pop for the eyelets and let Annisa be a perfect reflection of your colour passions.

I think that this will be the shawl I knit for the KAL. Now the colours. I have two sets laid out. Bright and fun for one set. The other is kind of boring - shades of denim. Beth is stopping in after work to help me decide.

Don't forget that this Saturday is Heritage Days in Ancaster and Wilson Street will be closed from 9:30am-3pm. Here are a few suggestions on how to get to the store.

I'm writing early today because there are a few chores to do when I get home like laundry and packing. My mom called earlier and asked if I was ready to go. I laughed and she laughed. There is lots of time until we leave.

And a pretty hosta picture. I can't wait to see what the flowers will look like on Wednesday morning when I'm back.

Lucy

Mom, dad and Beth made the trek to Chatham today to meet Lucy. I stayed home with Roko and Melo. It wouldn't have been good for me to go. We could have ended up with another puppy. Beth was the voice of reason. Not a very loud voice but from what I understand there will be only one puppy coming home in three weeks.

She sent me some pictures during the visit.

Meet Lucy. Beth said that she cuddled right in with both mom and dad.

They give each puppy a different coloured collar so that they can identify them as they grow. Lucy is the purple collared puppy. Very fitting.

A bit of knitting since it's a blog about yarn :) My shawl is growing. I can end it whenever I choose but I have lots of fuchsia so I'm continuing for a bit more. I need to cast off on Tuesday so the ends can be sewn in on Wednesday and Thursday.

My Lamina will not be coming to Washington. The weather is going to be way too hot to wear it. I'm pretty sure I can find a lighter shawl in my closet or hanging in the store.

Now back to the basketball. As a Golden State fan I'm loving it!!

Tonight we're heading to The Works for dinner and then tomorrow night we are having a barbecue at our house.

My shawl is growing. The rest of the shawl is the lace pattern. I keep going until I run out of yarn or decide to stop. There won't be much knitting until Sunday - I'm spending the day with the dogs. Beth is taking mom and dad to the breeders so that they can meet Lucy. They have been instructed to take lots of pictures.

Puppies

The puppies turned one month old today. We get to meet them in a couple of weeks.

I finished. I want to say it was done last night but I was so tired I had to go to bed. This morning I knit the last 6 grey rows and cast off. I couldn't deal with the ends today so..

I've been working away on this shawl all afternoon. I think that I might have it finished in time for TNNA. The big problem - there are a lot of ends on this shawl too. :(

Knitters' Fair

I'm back to working on the Greyhound Shawl (pattern purchased on Ravelry) in Mrs. Crosby Hat Box.

We were up early this morning to watch the golf. It was very exciting and I didn't get as much knitting accomplished as I had hoped. The final round starts at 6 tomorrow morning - we'll be up early.

I'm writing while watching Big Brother. Then we have Beach Flip taped. Any show with renovating excites me.

The Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Fair is one of the largest all-knitting events in Canada. For many years, the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild has offered a one-day fair organized "by knitters for knitters."

This Fair, held at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex in Kitchener, now presents approximately 50 vendors offering the latest and greatest of knitting products. Imagine two large rooms dedicated to craft of knitting, where you can see and feel the latest yarn, ogle the vibrant colours, visit with your friends, listen to a great speakers, and pamper yourself with a hand massage. We offer an incredible display of yarns and fibre in every colour, knitting books, patterns, tools, and accessories.

Some new things that we are working on for this year include scheduled demos by vendors, and a Micro Market for smaller local designers and knitting-related businesses. We have also increased our focus to include more fibre! So anyone who loves to spin their own fibre before knitting it will now have more options at the Fair.

Greyhound Shawl

That was some storm last night. The rain would not stop. We know that our sump pump works. It went off many times during the evening. I guess they won't be doing our front yard this week :) What a mess.

Today was the first day that the fireplace has been on. There was a touch of a chill in the house but I didn't want to put the heat on.

I'm by myself this week. Beth and the dogs are at mom and dad's with their dog because my parents are on their annual Alaskan cruise. My mom got an email in the fall that there was another quilt cruise and my dad had has his credit card out so fast your head would spin.

We're tracking the ship online. Very cool.  Tomorrow is Juneau. I'm not sure what mom is doing but dad is helicoptering up to a glacier and going dog sledding. Beth and I did this and it is so cool!

My shawl is progressing.

A day of rain is always good for knitting. Now it's time to hit publish. Big Brother is about to start. I can't decide yet who I like. It is going to be an interesting season.

Cote d'Azure

Zen Yarn Garden is taking preorders for their next Art Walk Series but you don't have to wait. We have this colour in Serenity 20, Serenity Silk Single and Serenity Glitter Sock.

The nineteenth offering in our new ART WALK Series features a painting by Pablo Picasso entitled "Cote d'Azure". From one medium to the next, artists express their use of colour. Inspired by Picasso, our dyer has successfully captured the excitement and complexity of the painting.

Wow was that a storm last night. It wasn't a good night at our house. The back fields were lighting up with the crazy lightening. Melo was upset and we finally got him settled down around 5am. Even his jacket couldn't console him.

I'm declaring it knitting time. I haven't progressed on my Greyhound Shawl. I'm heading to Myrtle for a few days in July. Maybe I can have it finished by then. It is super hot there now - heat warnings - 109 during the day with the humidity. When it's this hot they make the restaurants so cold. You need something to throw over your shoulders.

Very Bright!

Today I'm working at home. So far four boxes have been unpacked, a load of laundry done, organized the guest bathroom and bills paid. And it's just after 12:30.

With the golf on yesterday there was a lot of knitting accomplished. This shawl is going to be bright :)

My empty closet. It is being completed today by California Closets. I can't wait to have a proper walk in closet. Lots of room for shoes and sweaters.

 

It's later in the day and the closet is finished. Even my dad was impressed by it. The designer asked me if I wanted a drawer for jewelry. I don't have a lot of jewelry but then she mentioned glasses. 

Of course I started with shoes.

We are taking my dad out for dinner tonight. Boston Pizza and he is very happy. He wasn't leaving his TV last night. He watched the golf from start to finish.

Hummingbird

I try to blog everyday and wrote this post on Saturday. I thought that I hit publish but obviously didn't. If I get enough knitting done today there will be more pictures later. Otherwise, I'll take today off and write tomorrow.

Last night I wound a ball of Mrs. Crosby Hat Box in the new colour Hummingbird and started on the Greyhound Shawl. No ball winder? Take two chairs and put them back to back. Place the skein around the chairs and start rolling.

I love how the colour is coming out. The garter stitch section (grey on the pattern) is the multi and then I will be using Icebox Watermelon for the lace sections. I left that skein on the kitchen counter this morning and am hoping dreaming that it will be in a ball when I get home. It's not hard to wind yarn but it cuts into my knitting time.

Thea Colman (you might know her as babycocktails on Ravelry) writes a great pattern. It is easy to follow and I highly recommend knitting anything that she designs.
