New Tosh

Mr. UPS brought in 3 out of 4 boxes from madelinetosh today. These pretties are new colours of tosh sport. There are also new colours of tosh dk and merino light that I will try and get on the website tomorrow.

This is my Kimba. I really enjoyed knitting the shawl. I used Hedgehog Skinny Singles in Raku, Cereal, Wildcard and Hurricane.

Beth and I hosted a dinner party tonight. I'm exhausted so this is going to be short.

We were boring Lucy so she got comfortable on the couch. Her snoring was so loud.

Roko had better things to do than socialize. It is much better to play with two toys at once.

Now to load the dishwasher and then The Amazing Race Canada. I need to knit a few rows on my cardigan.

Winter is back

Kimba is blocked with all the ends sewn in. I'm very happy with the finished shawl. If I were to make the shawl again, I would change the needle that you start with. The first section is all garter stitch and I would go down one needle size for it. Then I would go to the size that the pattern asks for when doing the lace section.

I did get a bit of knitting accomplished while watching Survivor last night. It's not the easiest to photograph right now. It is huge!

I was just tracking some packages online and it looks like the new baskets as well as our madelinetosh order will be arriving tomorrow afternoon. Or they should be. It will depend on the weather.

Speaking of the weather. As of 6:30 there wasn't a snowflake to be seen. Now it's crazy out there.

We'll be shovelling before bed.

Another Finished Project

Four finished projects already this year. I cast off Kimba tonight. It took a bit of time - 458 stitches. I love how the colours came out. Now the blocking.

I came home from work early to have a nap. Getting up early and staying up late to watch the Olympics hit me today. I was up super early this morning (3:30) because dad, Beth and Lucy were heading to Myrtle Beach. I was in charge of making sure that Beth got up and out the door. I didn't do a good job of it. She took her truck keys with her and forgot her pretzels. I also filled their cooler bag for the trip. Buns with meat, chips, muffins, cookies..

Even with a truck full of food you still need to stop for a treat. It is a ritual to drop in at the same Dairy Queen on the way (and the way back too). Lucy loves ice cream. She and my dad are quite a pair.

They made it safely and are happy to be warm. Myrtle Beach is having unseasonably warm weather.

Now I need to decide what I'm going to work on next. Finish something else or start something new??

Squared

Beata of Hedgehog Fibres has a new pattern. Meet Squared (a free pattern) that is knit with a double strand of fingering weight yarn.

Simple modular poncho design with an applied i-cord border. No need to pick up stitches all the way around, yay! You will be holding two strands of different colours for a marled effect. The poncho is knitted in sections that are attached as you go. Easy and fun project, incorporating lots of different colours of fingering weight, so go dive into that stash!

Beata used Hedgehog Sock for the poncho. We have a lot of colours in stock with more on the way. We should see another shipment by the end of the month.

650g of Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn in a variety of colours, full skeins or Minis. I have used my leftovers and some PotluckTM colours. To achieve a similar colour story, I’d recommend the following: Full skeins in Iris, Bollywood, Fool’s Gold, Foam, Piggy Bank and Heyday and Minis in Guppy, Dijon, Down By The River, Skinny Dip, Typewriter and Coral.

Alex was in today and she is working away on my shawl. I love the colours! According to the pattern she has two wedges to go and then it is finished. That isn't big enough. We're continuing on to have a great sized shawl.

Even sadder. I just got home and realized that I don't have needles here to start Lilli Pilli in the morning. 👎👎

Beth sent these pictures when she got home from work. The kitchen is done.

We took dad and some friends out for dinner after work. I'm home now and am very pleased with the painting so far. Now a few rows of knitting. No painters tomorrow so I get to sleep in until 8:00.

I made it to the next colour on Kimba. One more row of C2 (the cream), 2 rows of C1, 2 rows of C2, 2 rows of C1 and then C2 for 14 rows until I get to bring in C3. 

Ancaster Community Services posted this on Facebook last week. Today Beth sent dad to the grocery store. We've been keeping him busy running errands. A buggy full of food and a bill of $130. He did good. Dad has been the one to do the grocery shopping since we were young. He has no clue how much things cost though. He buys by brand and it doesn't matter if it's on sale or not. Today he walked the aisles looking at all the things on sale. It opened a whole new world to him.

Beth has been cleaning out my mom's office. There aren't a lot of pictures of us as kids but here are a few. We were very lucky that my parents took us away every year.

Beth has been busy baking muffins while I'm writing. They are out of the oven and it's time for some TV.

I started this post yesterday and then the day got away from me. After work Beth and I went to spend some time with dad. It was after 11pm when we got home and I was exhausted.

Kimba is growing. A day of watching football and golf (and no work) helps.

I love it so far. One more row and I get to bring in the next colour. I considered knitting before writing but then I was afraid that there might not be a post today.

Now the go to sleep or knit debate is happening. :)

Driving Miss Lucy

It was another late night last night. I cast on the 232 stitches and then couldn't stop. The first section is made up of short rows to grow the semi circle. The rows are taking a long time but as I get going they will become shorter and shorter.

We should see a new Opal sock yarn next week. Happy colours for a dreary winter day.

Don't forget that Opal only produces a series of colours once. When they are sold out we can not reorder them.

There is also a new series called Elegant. Four colours are coming from this collection - the denims and the greys. Not everyone wants bold socks.

Lucy is very comfortable in the front seat of the truck. Dad and Beth are going to visit a job site in Bowmanville tomorrow and taking Lucy along for the ride. I wonder if it will be Beth or Lucy who rides in the back.

Cast Off and Cast On

I cast off Find Your Fade this afternoon during the first football game. What a game. When it was over we grabbed dinner and headed over to see dad. It was way too cold to try and do outside pictures. I threw it on the rail in the loft.

Beth was lying on the love seat until Lucy decided she needed to be on it too. We need to get dad bigger couches.

I wound my first skein of Skinny Singles (the colour is Raku) for Kimba. Now to try and get 232 stitches cast on before bed.
