Tweedy Noir

We have a brand new batch of Hedgehog Fibres Tweedy Noir. The flecks are awesome!

We had a price increase from Hedgehog but we won’t be raising the price of Tweedy Noir until April 15th.

I played with some colours for the Attune Shawl today. These skeins popped off the shelf at me. Kits are available online. These kits are one of a kind. The skeins pictured are the actual skeins that you will receive.

I used Patagonia for the main colour mixed with Dyed in the Wool.

Dad and Lucy made it home safely. Dad was worried that they could be a long time at the border. I told him not to worry - everyone will be crossing today. There was only one car with him at the border. This morning they were up early to visit a few arenas that need fixing.

I had an unexpected dentist appointment this afternoon. I cracked a tooth and now I need a crown. Then I need a mouth guard because I’m grinding my teeth. 

Dad and Lucy just left and they are doing good. Lucy looks like she enjoyed her time away. Her leg has healed nicely and she is walking much better. 

Now a bit of knitting before bed. We have Top Chef taped. The problem is that I want to watch and don’t knit a lot.

Kits

I was in the store before 8am to make sure I beat the freezing rain. I made it just in time. After I finished packing orders for Canada Post I started to make up kits for the Attune Shawl. We had a big box hidden away with Liberty Wool from Classic Elite. I love Liberty but it’s discontinued. I mixed the Liberty with Patagonia and kits are available online for a great price.

Liberty is 100% machine washable wool that knits up into self-patterning stripes. I think it will make a beautiful shawl.

This sweater and cardigan were knit in Liberty. This shows how the yarn stripes. 

If you want to see how a colour knits up, check out projects on Ravelry. In the search box at the top, type in the colour number and you will see projects in that colour.

Now I need to figure out what yarn I’m going to use for mine. Right now I’m leaning towards tosh DK with Spincycle Dream State. I might do something totally different and knit a purple shawl 😘.

I’m very excited that we will be getting shawl cuffs from Purl & Hank very soon. They are in the hands of Canada Post and hopefully we will see them next week. This is the Overall Buckle.

The nostalgic overall buckle is a favourite. With various sizes its a great options for shawls of all weights.

Our leather is tanned with oil leaving it soft and pliable yet durable and resistant to the harsh elements. The pronounced grain gives character to each piece

The Tiny Belt.

The Tiny Belt pairs best with your lightweight to medium shawls. Make for adorable bracelets when you’re not using them to secure your shawl. Double up the belts for double the fun!

The In Betweener.

The In-Betweeners size rests right in between the Tiny Belt and the Shawl Buckle. With a variety of options it is the perfect accessory. Buckle measures roughly 3/4” x 1.5”

Dad and Lucy are on their way home tomorrow. I can’t wait to see Lucy. We talk to dad everyday so we know that he is doing well. Lucy doesn’t like talking on the phone so it will be good to talk to her in person.

Sara finished her What the Fade?! The shawl is stunning. It took a few false starts to get the colours right but she nailed it.

You can purchase the pattern on Andrea’s website. I was very afraid of doing Brioche until I knit Andrea’s Cinnabar. If you read through the pattern it looks scary. Once you start knitting you will see that it’s not nearly as hard as you thought.

Quadruple your fading fun!! This shawl starts off with back to back fades thanks to beautiful, bouncy two color brioche! We then end with an epic band of all 6 colors faded together with some relaxing garter stitch! To celebrate this amazing fade, we’ll finish it off with faded tassels, and then wrap it around and wear it all year long! Included in the pattern are links to helpful video tutorials!

I have completely revamped Shifty and put it back thru testing to get the best fit possible! The update for this pattern will be going out a week from today. [You can find Shifty on Ravelry here! This pattern will also be available on my website again once the update is live.]

We will have the original colours available next week - hopefully in time for the release. I knew that this was coming and that’s why I haven’t started Metamorphic. I’m deciding which I will make.

This sweater is all about being playful and having fun with color! One colorway is used consistently as the “background” while 3 contrasting colors make up the textured colorwork using the Mosaic knitting method! This is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe - it looks fabulous with high waisted pants and skirts, layered under overalls and pinafores or over dresses and tunics!

The packing table is gone. He was a part of our life for much of the past 2 years.

Without the packing table Lynn kneels on the floor and tapes boxes. This box was a little full - Lynn is actually kneeling on the box.

We were both very tired at 4 this afternoon. We (mostly Lynn) did a lot of rearranging over the past few days. 

A sneak peek at a new Della Q product coming in March. A circular needle case. And there is going to a brand new colour. Love the orange!

It’s time for a quick cup of tea and then bed. I want to be wide awake tomorrow. I’m a little worried about the temperature change. That can bring on a migraine 😢.

I put these colourways together from a small picture I saw a few weeks ago. Once I purchase the pattern tomorrow there could be more options.

We have a brand new colour of Zauberball Crazy. This is 2475 Background Noise. There were more colours in the box and we will update our stock tomorrow.

We also received a box of Addi needles. I’ll get those online tomorrow as well.

I was knitting on my Shawlography last night when Beth asked which section I was on. I said Clue #2 and she remarked that I am way behind. She thought that I should take an afternoon and catch up. That was the plan today until I fell into the website rabbit hole. I have a new app which lets us do some neat things from our end that will save Lynn and I time. It will save us time soon - right now it’s going to take a bit of work but I’m excited about the future.

I’m going to crawl out of my rabbit hole and knit for a bit.

A Day of Andrea

Mr. Canada Post left a box from Lynda this morning. She finished my Honey Moss and it is stunning! The shawl is knit with Universal Deluxe Worsted Tweed Superwash. Lynda used 4 balls with just a little left over - it was cutting it close. The pattern calls for 5 balls.

During Fall & Winter, I adore wrapping up in my biggest, squishiest shawls. The Honey Moss shawl combines squishy worsted weight wool with big honeycomb cables that transition into a magnified Horseshoe lace. Once finished it begs to be wrapped up in!

Here is another great pair of Sparks socks. Doreen emailed me a picture this morning. She used Kit #2.

Here are my sparks.  I don't knit a lot of socks but this looked like fun so gave it a try,  Was surprised how fast they knit up.  They look like two different socks from the same ball of yarn.   Looks great!  Two firsts for me on this project.  The afterthought heel which I found very easy to do and I have never blocked socks before.  I can see blocking makes a big difference.  I am wrapping this up for Christmas.
