Another Love Note

Last night Beth suggested that I feature one yarn or pattern each day to give you ideas for something to make. Normally you could come to the store. You could touch and feel and see our finished samples. Now you are shopping from the website. Where do you start? I'll show a pattern and give some yarn choices.

We've had a run on Le Petit Lambswool in the store over the past few days. Customers are joining Andrea Mowry's KAL and are making Wool & Honey.

The sweater is knit in fingering weight yarn so you have many, many options. Here are all the fingering weight yarns on our website.

Knit top down, with a flattering, cropped, boxy silhouette, it looks equally beautiful paired with your favorite jeans or thrown on over a dress!

Cheer each other on, share tips and make some new friends! (Andrea met one of her absolute best friends during a KAL!) Everyone is welcome here!
This morning Sarah texted me pictures of her latest sweater. She knit another Love Note. It looks amazing!!

You can purchase the pattern for Love Note on Ravelry. This is another sweater that people have been buying yarn to knit.

Sarah used Le Petit Lambswool Red Brown and Le Petit Silk & Mohair Medium Grey.

This sweet little sweater knits up quickly from the top down. The combination of mohair lace and single-ply merino creates a fabric that is floaty, soft and sensual. With a high-low hemline and two length options, what’s not to love?

This is Sarah's first Love Note. For this one she knit a small.

This morning dad dropped off a table so that I could set up a shipping station. It made things go a lot quicker today. I could spread out when packing boxes.

Lynn is coming in tomorrow morning. The store looks like a tornado hit. I have boxes from suppliers to unpack. There is yarn thrown everywhere. We aren't going to have customers in for a bit but if we don't get things back in order we won't be able to have customers in. There will be no where for you to walk.

Boscoe went to daycare today. This is the pond that Lucy would go into. Now Boscoe is going into it. He was so dirty when Beth picked him up that she took him to dad's for a shower. Dad and Boscoe are both very clean now.

Lynn's Love Note

Lynn is very close to finishing her Love Note. Another sweater that fits her perfectly. She needs to sew in ends and block and then she's ready. She knit the Small (finished 41.5") and used 3 balls each of Le Petit Lambswool and Le Petit Silk and Mohair. There was yarn left over from each.
An order of Biches & Buches arrived this morning and the website has been updated.

I knit last night and thought I was near the end of my body. I'm not. Still 4" and then the ribbing.

You will notice the front of my Throwback looks really funny. That is the section that I will be cutting through.

This section looks better 😋
Our good friend Fiona Ellis released a new pattern that you can purchase on Ravelry. It is knit in worsted weight yarn so your yarn options are endless.
This classic vest is named for Geneva Misener (1878–1961). She was the first female professor at the University of Alberta and a vocal spokesperson for women’s rights in the province. The Geneva Vest has a timeless appeal, with cable details that are designer, Fiona Ellis’ hallmark, and a nod to the beautiful architecture of the university. Wear it in the fall, winter and spring—to class, to work, or to the park. You’ll make a statement, just like Geneva.

Beth is out tonight and I am Boscoe sitting. There hasn't been any knitting. Mothers of young children come in and say that they can't get a lot of knitting accomplished because they are busy running after the kids. Now I understand.

Family Day

Today was Family Day in Ontario so the store was closed. We had lots of family time. Beth and I had breakfast with dad and Lucy. Dad made bacon and eggs - his specialty. This afternoon was spent knitting.
I worked on Love Note for most of the afternoon and then I ran out of yarn so I moved on to Hinterland. This never happened when I lived above the store.
Tonight we went back to have dinner with dad and Lucy. It's too early for dad to leave her alone. She is doing really well. There is swelling and bruising but that is normal for the surgery she had. You'll notice that she isn't wearing her cone. She wears it at night but during the day dad takes it off. He watches her diligently and she hasn't looked at her leg.
She loves to lie in the snow. The weather was nice this afternoon so he let her lie there for half an hour. She was so happy!

According to UPS our order from Harrisville Design is coming tomorrow. I can't wait!! There will be a new project started soon. I need to knit with the yarn so that I can recommend it 😋😋

Lynn's in Love

Lynn is working away on her Love Note and loves how it looks so far. She is using Biches & Buches Le Petit Lambswool and Le Petit Silk & Mohair. Just a few more rows on the body and then onto the ribbing.
This sweet little sweater knits up quickly from the top down. The combination of mohair lace and single-ply merino creates a fabric that is floaty, soft and sensual. With a high-low hemline and two length options, what’s not to love?
You will notice the different coloured yarn at the neck line. The pattern asks you to start with a provisional cast on.
This pullover is knit from the top down. The neckline ribbing is completed last to allow easy fit adjustment.
Mr. Canada Post delivered our box of Wrist Rulers this morning.
We have shiny.
We have bright.
And we have natural colours.

Lynn rearranged sock yarn today. This means pulling everything off the shelf and starting fresh.

Camp is always in the back of my mind and this morning I came up with a new class. I am going to teach this class Saturday morning.
I like that sweater but I want a cardigan
We will discuss taking a sweater pattern and changing it to become a cardigan. We will switch it as well - make a cardigan into a sweater.
  • A few of things we will discuss -
  • When you can add steeks.
  • How to do steeks.
  • Lining up patterns.
  • How many stitches to pick up for button band.
I don't know how much knitting there will be tonight. The new season of Survivor. The Masked Singer. It could be a late night but these are TV shows that you have to pay attention to - you have to keep putting down your knitting to watch.

Growing Quickly

Love Note is growing. And it's growing quickly. I love how the colours are working together.

The Kidsilk Fade Packs from Rowan should be arriving this month.

The packs include 6 balls of Kidsilk Haze and the pattern to make this scarf.
Our ever-popular Kidsilk Haze combines the soft halo of super kid mohair with the vibrant shine of silk in one incredible yarn that is loved by knitters the world over. Kidsilk Haze can be used with a variety of needle sizes to create different effects and styles, and is a firm favourite with lace fans. Used alongside other yarns it takes on an almost magical quality, and is available in a kaleidoscopic array of stunning colours.

I like this scarf but there is a scarf that I like better so Diana used the 6 balls of Kidsilk Haze to knit the Colorplay Mohair Scarf from Churchmouse Yarns.

Have fun playing with color—glowing, silky soft Kidsilk Haze color! Watching what comes next is so much fun. For the scarf project, we mixed four solid colors—two at a time—to create shaded color blocking. Try mixing tonal colors for ombré shading, or cross the color wheel for graphic punch! It may be impossible to stop at just one scarf project.
You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry or we have copies of the pattern in the store.
This is the original Colorplay scarf knit with 4 balls. I find this too short and love the longer version. Just my personal opinion but I like a long scarf.

Love Note

I started working on Love Note. Started but had to stop. I was knitting during the Super Bowl and Boscoe decided that it was fun to run with my yarn in his mouth. The yarn is Biches & Buches Le Petit Lambswool and Hedgehog Fibres Kidsilk Lace. I can knit after he goes in his crate at night. Yarn is just so tempting right now.

Another order is on the way just arrived from Spincycle. The box has Dyed in the Wool Castaway (above) and Ghost Ranch (below).
Lynn used Ghost Ranch for Newleaf. Yes, I will get this picture in as many blog posts as possible. I am hoping it will inspire you to make the sweater. Lynn and I love ours and we think you would love it too.

Leith and The Meadows are also were in the shipment so we will be able to make up kits for the original Shift. Remember - every time that Spincycle makes and dyes yarn the colours can be different. The Meadows shown here has a lot of purple - I used skeins with almost no purple to make up kits for The Shift. These are the skeins I added to the website - they would look great in a sweater.

I don't have a Shift but it's probably time to make one.

The Party Packs from Sweetgeorgia are on the way and should be here by the middle of next week.

Boscoe loves his grandpa. I hope dad doesn't need to get out quickly.
Someone loves the snow.
