Malabrigo Torzal

Torzal is Malabrigo’s newest yarns and it should be arriving in the store tomorrow.

This two-ply DK/SPORT-weight yarn, made from pure Superwash Merino wool, randomly blends multicolored tones throughout the strand. Its appearance evokes the charm of handspun yarn, offering our signature colorways in a more structured construction. The result is the softness you already know, paired with a vibrant and dynamic visual effect.

We can’t wait to see your finished projects, but above all, we hope you enjoy both creating with and wearing this new addition as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life.

Take a look at this beautiful Shift Cowl that was posted on Instagram. It is knit with 3 colours of Torzal. I think I might be casting one on tomorrow if UPS delivers while I’m in the store. 

My second Inclinations Shawl is dry. Now there are ends to sew in.

I was in the store this morning packing orders. There are lots of boxes going out by UPS tomorrow. Then I put together a few more Inclination Shawls that are close to the one I knit.

The Aura Collection

We have brand new colours of Malabrigo Sock.

The colours are available online and in the store.

The new colours would work with Malabrigo’s Temperance Shawl (pattern purchased on Ravelry). We knit this shawl as part of KAL a few years ago. This year we will be taking part in a new KAL with Malabrigo for a different shawl pattern called the Orienta Shawl.

You need 2 skeins of the multi-colour and 1 skein of the solid colour. The shawl is knit on 4mm needles.

I will write more about this tomorrow. Malabrigo sent out a link to join the KAL but it isn’t working.

We had a quiet Family Day watching the Olympics. I knit and had a nice nap. 

I’ll be in the store early tomorrow morning packing boxes. I remembered my 2pm dentist appointment but forget my noon hair appointment. It’s going to be a busy day.

Rios Restock

All the boxes from Malabrigo are unpacked and now I’m getting the shelves rearranged. This is a task and a half. At one time I had like colours together and then it all went crazy. I’m going to try and get this organized again. Things will be a mess for a few days.

Just before leaving I put a few greens in order. 

We have a new yarn coming next week. Meet Cloud from Lang. In the first shipment we will receive 4 colours. More will be coming later in February.

When I look on Ravelry quite a few people have used Cloud to make the Cloud Sweater from PetiteKnit. Others have used it to make the Step By Step Sweater. 

We’re watching the Price is Right and then a movie.

Yes the Price is Right is serious. 

Musselburgh Hat and Malabrigo Chunky

I had today’s post all planned and then Deidre came in with Beth’s Musselburgh hat. It looks amazing. We used two skeins of Dyed in the Wool in the colour Dark Side. I picked two skeins that were very different so it looks like two different hats.

The Malabrigo Chunky is out and on display in the store. I need to tweak it after my trip but it works for now. I started thinking about patterns and found Northward which is a free pattern on Ravelry from Tin Can Knits.

Deidre took home some Malabrigo Chunky to make the Plumped Up Cowl. We need a store sample made with the yarn and the cowl will show off the colours. Deidre needed something to knit so it’s a win win. I chose Arco Iris and Hollyhock. It’s going to be bright.

Here is the Plumped Up Cowl (pattern purchased on Ravelry) that I knit with Spincycle Plump. 

I’ve been trying to get caught up on my Temperature Blanket. Right now I’m three days behind. I hope to catch up before I go.

Dinner is finished and the kitchen is clean. Now to knit.

Coming Soon

I am enjoying knitting my Plumped Up Cowl but I understand that not everyone wants to knit with Spincycle. I ordered some Malabrigo yarns this morning that will work for the cowl and hat. My guess is that they won’t be here until the new year but surprises happen.

Mecha

A rare single-ply superwash yarn! Our superwash merino takes color in the most vivid, rich way, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the multi-layered hues of Mecha! Soft as always, Mecha has a slight thick-and-thin texture, a fantastic loft, and is the perfect size for quick but not-too-heavy projects.

I looked again at my purchase order and there are 2 more colours of Mecha coming that I missed.

Chunky

One of our classics! We took our Merino Worsted, fattened it up, and plied it to create this squishy treat of a yarn! Chunky’s nice smooth texture and semi-solid colors make it perfect for bulky cables and bold textures - or choose a variegated colorway and let the colors do the work!

You can mix the yarns - they are the same tension.

When we order from Malabrigo we select from their current stock. As more colours become available we will be adding.

We also topped up on Rios and Washted. It’s going to be a big shipment.

I thought I was being smart and put my cowl on a different mannequin just before coming home. I wasn’t paying attention and pulled my needle out of a 1/4 of the stitches. 🤬 Luckily I was able to get them all picked up properly. I wasn’t happy with myself.

I have 12 more rows to knit and then I’ll be casting off. 

Old Rose

Malabrigo has introduced a brand new colour and we will have it sometime on Wednesday. The yarn is available online to order.

An interplay of delicate cables and ribbing decorates this beautiful hat. 

It has been designed in collaboration with Malabrigo Yarn. We created the “Old Rose by Lisa Hannes” colourway especially for this collection and I have designed the matching Old Rose Socks and Old Rose Wrap pattern, too, which I’m also wearing in the photos 

The hat is worked in sport weight yarn, bottom up (from brim to crown) and in the round. 

The pattern contains fully written as well as charted instructions so you can choose which you prefer to work from.

The hat is knit with Arroyo. 

Beautiful large but delicate cables create a subtle, eye-catching texture on this wonderful cosy wrap. The bands of cables are framed by ribbing, and grow seamlessly in and out of the ribbed tips of the shawl.

Old Rose Wrap is a long sideways-knit shawl. You start knitting at one tip (short edge), then work your way across to the opposite tip, creating an elongated tapered shape. 

The pattern is written for fingering weight held together with a fluffy lace weight, but it is easily adjustable if you wish to use a different yarn, weight and/or make a smaller/ larger shawl according to the yardage you have available. 

Fully written row-by-row as well as charted instructions are provided so you can choose which you prefer to work from.

The wrap is knit with Mechita and Mohair

I spent an hour in the store late this afternoon packing boxes. I quickly unpacked the new colours of Zauberball and snapped a few pictures. These are awesome!

I finished my Frame Your Face last night. When I finish writing I’m going to work on my Snowflower and watch The Price is Right with dad.
