Emma’s Yarns

Ms. UPS brought a huge box this morning with pretty yarn from Emma’s Yarns. 

The colours are beautiful. Lynn opened the box and was fondling the skeins. She really liked the twist on the yarn and took a skein home to start a pair of socks.

I didn’t have much time to play with the yarn. We quickly hung the skeins of Practically Perfect Sock at the front door before I had to head home. I’m on dog duty. Yesterday a moving company packed up items at my dad’s house in Myrtle Beach to bring home. We have a bedroom set. TVs. Couch. Dishes. Golf Clubs. Golf shoes. A lot of golf shoes. Clothes….. Beth is meeting the truck at the Peace Bridge to clear the items through customs. We have no clue how long this will take. 

I’m going to be in the store early tomorrow to go through the minis and start another order. We need more full skeins of Practically Perfect Sock but I wanted to see the colours first. 

I’m casting off. Perfect timing. It should be finished tonight and then I don’t have to feel guilty about taking yarn tomorrow 😀

Ranunculus

Someone on Instagram posted pictures of The Shift that they knit using only one colour. All three of her skeins were very different and I really like how it looked. You guessed it. I had to try it. These are 3 skeins of Ranunculus Dyed in the Wool. I picked 3 that were very, very different. 

Bottom left is A. Bottom right is B. Top is C. I am working from the outside of the balls. This way the colours are very different. There are times when the colours could be close. I’m not worrying about that.

I think the skeins need to have lots of colour (Melancholia won’t work) and you need 3 skeins that are very different. I put together some combinations. These skeins are set aside and I will be adding them to the website tomorrow on the Shift page.

Ms. UPS came this afternoon with new Spincycle. I was in the store late so it isn’t online yet. I want to say I’m going to do it tonight but Beth and I have two episodes of Chicago PD to watch. We need to know what is going to happen. We finished an episode at 10:30 last night and almost watched one more. Then we realized we had three episodes to get through. We watched one before dinner.

Ms. UPS also brought the Barber Cords. The website has been updated.

Now back to The Shift and Chicago PD.

Finished Cowls

Alex stopped this afternoon for a quick visit and dropped off some of my knitting. I knit and Alex blocks, sews in ends and sews my seams. It’s the perfect arrangement - at least for me.

This is Andrea Mowry’s Velvet Mirror Cowl. You can purchase the pattern on Andrea’s website.

This cowl gets started with a provisional cast on and then is knit sideways as a tube. A half twist and some kitchener stitch to finish it off and you have an easy to wear, cozy-to-the-max cowl to pair with all of your cool weather outfits!

I used Rowan Kidsilk Haze (double stranded) and Spincycle Dyed in the Wool. Kits are available on the website. I really enjoyed making this cowl and would highly recommend it.

I need to be careful with this cowl - Lynn wants it. I’m going to be checking her bag when she leaves every evening 😘.

Alex also blocked my Shift. I used Dyed in the Wool Absolute Zero, Dead Reckoning and Cold Comfort. I have a new mauve jean jacket and this will be perfect.

I’m going to continue with the cowl theme when I sit down to knit and watch Top Chef. The rows on my Inclinations Cowl are getting shorter so it feels like I’m knitting faster.

Nordic Summer Nights

Laine Summer 2022 will be launching on May 6th. The book has been added to the website for preorder.

After I packed my boxes this morning I did a bit of shopping. 

The new colours of Le Petit Lambswool have arrived at Biches & Buches and our order has been placed. Biches is usually quick to ship so we should have these next week.

There wasn’t much knitting over the weekend. I sort of tidied my knitting area yesterday. That meant taking storage bins and filling them with yarn that was in knitting bags, or plastic bags or in baskets. One bin is full of needles. That is another days problem - they need to be organized properly. 

The bins came from a late night shopping spree on The Shopping Channel. I should learn to stay away - Curtis Stone cookware and OrganizeMe storage always gets me.

I’m going to try and get a few rows knit tonight while watching the Jays.
