Lynn's in Love

Lynn is working away on her Love Note and loves how it looks so far. She is using Biches & Buches Le Petit Lambswool and Le Petit Silk & Mohair. Just a few more rows on the body and then onto the ribbing.

This sweet little sweater knits up quickly from the top down. The combination of mohair lace and single-ply merino creates a fabric that is floaty, soft and sensual. With a high-low hemline and two length options, what’s not to love?

You will notice the different coloured yarn at the neck line. The pattern asks you to start with a provisional cast on.

This pullover is knit from the top down. The neckline ribbing is completed last to allow easy fit adjustment. 

Mr. Canada Post delivered our box of Wrist Rulers this morning.

We have shiny.

We have bright.

And we have natural colours.

Lynn rearranged sock yarn today. This means pulling everything off the shelf and starting fresh.

Camp is always in the back of my mind and this morning I came up with a new class. I am going to teach this class Saturday morning.

I like that sweater but I want a cardigan 

We will discuss taking a sweater pattern and changing it to become a cardigan. We will switch it as well - make a cardigan into a sweater.

• When you can add steeks.
• How to do steeks.
• Lining up patterns.
• How many stitches to pick up for button band.

I don't know how much knitting there will be tonight. The new season of Survivor. The Masked Singer. It could be a late night but these are TV shows that you have to pay attention to - you have to keep putting down your knitting to watch.

Rustic Reclaimed

Lynn took two days off for the bad weather and this is how she spent her afternoon. Relaxing.

Just joking. I made her sit down for a few minutes. My new table came this afternoon.

All the wood for the base is reclaimed from a barn. The hole was in the board, Steve didn't put it there.

The top is gorgeous.

Steve did an amazing job. I love it.

Mr. FedEx brought a box with new Noro. This is Akari.

Alex took these two balls home to start Nightshift.

This is Lirico from Louisa Harding.
262 yards in a 100gram ball.

I think that I will be sending 4 balls of this colour to Lynda for The Hipster.

This scarf takes two balls of Lirico - the pattern is free when you purchase the yarn.

I have been working on Camp and I think we are ready.

I haven't mentioned Spincycle. UPS did not deliver my yarn again today. I am trying to remain calm so I won't go into the details but I ended up driving to Brantford (15-20 minutes from Ancaster) to pick up the yarn after work.

Knitting Camp 2019

We are excited to announce that Laura Bryant of Prism Yarns will be one of our instructor for Knitting Camp 2019.

After developing a life-long passion for color while earning a degree in fine arts from the University of Michigan, Laura began Prism Yarns in 1984. She continues as Prism's creative force, specializing in color, hand-dyed yarns, and developing designs and patterns that use them in exciting and innovative ways. 

 Laura has written six books including The Yarn Stash Workbook, The New Knitter's Template (coauthored with Barry Klein), and recently produced the DVD Knitter's Guide to Color with Laura Bryant and the video, Yarn to Fit with Barry Klein. Artful Color, Mindful Knits from XRX Books is her latest book.  

Laura is a nationally recognized weaver with work in many major corporate collections and is a recipient of an NEA individual artist grant in support of her work. Laura teaches and designs with a 'no rules' approach, and her classes are designed to bring out the creativity within all of us.

As you can see, Laura loves colour. Dying yarn. Designing patterns. Wearing it.

What is Knitting Camp Like?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go to knitting Camp? Anne joined us this year and was busy taking pictures. She just finished the most amazing video showcasing our fun.



Check out Anne's blog. Anne is a Rowan Ambassador and posts about their latest yarns and patterns. She samples the yarns and will give you a fair critique. She is also a Fair Isle expert and her work is amazing!!

I finished the bottom edge on my Game Board Cardigan. I brought it this morning but forgot a few colours so I can't start on the chart until tonight. Blogger doesn't use emojis but I want to add a sad face. I should get some knitting accomplished tonight. The new season of Survivor is starting.

Home Again

We had an amazing time at Camp.

The lake looked eery this morning.

By lunch time the sun was shining.

The ladies dyed Sock Blanks yesterday. These are so cool. I was busy teaching or I would have dyed some too. They had so much fun!!

I can't wait to see the finished projects.

Thank you to Beth Casey and Fiona Ellis for teaching amazing workshops. They are truly professional in their classes and throughout the weekend. Beth helped me with the goodie bags on Wednesday evening and then with unloading the van on Thursday morning. Both ladies participate in all our events - games night, fashion show and student fashion show. Fiona did an amazing talk during my fashion show.

Thank you to Lynn for her help getting everything packed (and unpacked tomorrow). We forgot one small item which is amazing. And it was my fault.

Thank you to Beth (my sister) for all her help before, during and after the weekend.

Thank you to all the students who joined us this weekend. We had so much fun. Great weather. Amazing food. A lot of laughs. And a bit of knitting.

Now it's time to put my feet up. I didn't knit one stitch while away. I think I might be casting on something new.
