Stressful Knitting Night

I was working on Aileen last night and found an issue. I had to rip back 20 rows on the left front. Thankfully it was only 40 stitches so not too bad.

Beth started her monkey at the same time. We had to learn a new technique. Intarsia in the round.
This is something that I have never done before. The pattern is well written with lots of pictures. I was the co-pilot. Beth figured it out herself and did a great job.

Around 10pm I received a text from Wannietta. There was a problem on the finishing of the Amalfi Poncho.

This is the start of the poncho. The triangles are knit in the MC.

This is the end. The pattern asks for you to do the ending triangles (top part of the picture) in the main colour. There is something wrong about this. We looked at pictures from the magazine and figured out the problem and solution. Wannietta is going to take out the ending triangles. Then she is going to take back the last 12 rows in the contrast colour (grey, green and blue) and do the finishing triangles colour in the contrast. We decided that it didn't matter if the triangles were different front and back.

Wannietta will finish it up and bring it to the Knitters' Fair. I can't wait to see it.

Today is going much better.
Sleepy Sunday is done. All the tassels are on. All ends are sewn in.

Jane just stopped by with the Arizona Dream throw that she knit. It is the Denali version in Walkabout Creek. Fabulous. One day it will look great in Myrtle Beach.

Wheaten is growing nicely and I love the colour. The cables show up great in the dark colour.

It's time to get back to Aileen. I hope to have the knitting finished and start on the front band by the time I go back to work on Tuesday.

Sleepy Sunday

I'm almost done. I have the curly q tassels finished on one end. Maybe the other end will be done tomorrow. It took some fiddling to figure out how to add them to the throw. I was going to sew them on and couldn't make them look good. I took a picture from Colinette and enlarged it to see how they added the tassels. They are tied on. Easy way to do it.
It's been a long day that is getting longer. Beth was going to barbecue dinner but we ran out of propane. She went and stole the tank from my parents. Unfortunately it was empty as well. Now she is on her way to Swiss Chalet.

Here are some pictures of my Happy Birthday plant.

All of a sudden we have little yellow flowers. No, I know nothing about flowers so I don't know their proper name. :)

And it looks like we are going to have purple flowers soon.

There could be a new project started tonight. I don't really want to start something but we received some Karbonz circular needles today. I really should try them out. :) And every knitter knows that you shouldn't change needles mid project so what am I supposed to do?

Today's shipment included circular, 80cm (32") in 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm and 6mm.

Beth should be home any minute so I better sign off and get cutlery out.

Read the pattern

Today has been all about the knitting. I'm trying to get Sleepy Sunday done. Around 3pm I started to fret. OK, I was freaking out. There was no way I could get the throw done because I was going to run out of yarn.

The pattern says to work to row 136. Then you are supposed to go back to 124 and work the colour order in reverse. 123, 122, 121... I got to row 83 and knew that I didn't have enough Zanziba to finish. I checked to see how many rows I could do and I came to about 4.5. When I counted there were 10 rows of Zanziba to finish the throw. I started to try and figure out how I could rearrange the colours to make it. My mind was going to explode. Then I read the pattern.
Now starting with row 124, work the rows backwards i.e. row 123, row 122, rows 121 etc until the length measures approx. 145cm.
145cm. I don't need to get back to row 1. I was about 130cm at row 83. There is a really good lesson in this. Read the pattern.

I just finished row 59. After the next mohair section I will have enough length. And I haven't run out of any colours. All the worry for nothing.

I should have the knitting finished sometime tonight. Big Brother and The Great Food Truck Race are on so I can knit without feeling guilty that I should be doing some sort of work.

Chevrons

I was texting with Wannietta yesterday and asked her to send me some pictures of the Amalfi Poncho so far.

She said that the pattern is very easy. It's garter stitch with increases and decreases to create the chevron pattern.

In case you missed my post last week, the pattern is from the Fall 2013 Knitscene magazine.

There are two sizes for the poncho. The smaller size takes 5 balls of each colour and the larger size takes 7 balls of each colour.

I hope she hurries because I can't wait to see it finished.

It's less than a month until the Knitters' Fair. My mind is working overtime on the booth. What to take?? How am I going to display it??

We unpack from the Knitters' Fair and start packing for Knitting Camp. There is a two day turnaround. It's going to be a bit crazy in the store for a few days. I worked a bit on the Camp fashion show today. We are up to 60 garments. Yikes. The largest fashion show we've had. I might need to take a few garments out.

Arizona Dream is growing. I'm at the halfway point. I needed to come up with a title for my post when it hit me that Wannietta and I are both knitting chevron patterns.
I spent some time in the storage locker today and brought more tosh to the store.

I'm going to be very busy tomorrow putting yarn away. Lots of merino light, dk and merino dk.

Colour Craving

Sleepy Sunday grew last night. Big Brother and then Die Hard. Two shows that don't require a lot of attention. 43 rows are complete. I really want to get back to it but there is lots of tosh to add to the website.
It feels like I didn't accomplish anything today but I left the house early and didn't get home until 5. I did bring lots of tosh from the storage unit.
merino light-I believe we have all the new colours in the store plus some favourites that have been out of stock.
pashmina
more pashmina
chunky, lace, prairie and more merino light

There is another Stephen West KAL starting in September.

Westknits Mystery Shawl KAL 2013: Color Craving

You can read more on Ravelry...

The words Colour Craving have me intrigued. Yes, I've purchased the pattern. Who knows if I will make it but patterns never go to waste. :) And it will be fun putting together colour combinations!!

Sleepy Sunday

No, I didn't sleep all day. This is the colourway of the Colinette throw that I started today.
I started casting on while winding the yarn. How can I do that? I have an electric ball winder. Just hit GO and sit back and watch.
21 rows are done. The pattern (Grand Teton) is easy to follow. The right side row is a chevron pattern and the wrong side row is either knit or purl. The throw will be 260 rows in total. Big Brother is about to start so I should get more rows done tonight.
