And the winner is....

I love Ambah O'Brien's shawls. I have knit many and highly recommend her patterns. This is her Orianna Wrap. The pattern isn't new but I have always loved it. For the past few weeks I have been emailing with Steffi at Uschitita and Steffi is dying us more yarn. We are going to have kits for Orianna. These should (I can't make any promises) be arriving in April. There will be 8 kits in the box. One is for me which means 7 kits for you.

Cast on Orianna and have fun knitting as you play with subtle textures and colour transitions. Sometimes fingering weight yarns are held together with co-ordinating Kidsilk lace strands, but other times they are held singly and alternated to add to the textured effect. Stripes and lace also combine to further showcase the contrasts and textures. The result, a luxe wrap cosy enough for the coolest of days will certainly be a beautiful addition to your wardrobe. Keep your colours muted or play with bold choices; the options are limitless.

I went to see Trish today (no more grey) and I wanted to take my knitting. Lynn and I rolled a skein of Highland so I had enough yarn. This is the message on my watch.

We did the draw today. Lynn is mixing the tickets.

We asked a customer to draw.

I got home from my hair appointment and helped Lynn for an hour. Then my stomach started to act up so I went home to lay down. I'm feeling better now but didn't have a chance go call the winner before I left.

Beth and Boscoe took all the food and money to the Food Drive this morning. $1500. Thank you to everyone who donated. The $1500 will purchase over 3000 lbs of food. Mrs. Lucas was one of Beth's teachers in high school and has been on the executive of the Food Drive since the first year. She was in tears when Beth dropped the money and food off. She even made Beth take pictures with the mayor. 

Lynn and I did not draw the name of the winner. We were busy in the store today and didn't remember until closing time. I want someone other than Lynn and I to draw the winning ticket. We will do it first thing Monday morning.

There are new colours of Manos del Uruguay Alegria.

Alegria is an easy-care blend of ultra-soft superwash merino with durable polyamide.  Its “hand” is remarkably soft and resilient, and the bright, playful colorways would make exciting baby projects as well as socks.

Mr. UPS arrived at closing time last night with more Kidsilk Haze Fade Kits.

Dinner is finished and the kitchen is clean. Now I'm going to do some work on my sewing room. I have the urge to do some quilting but it looks like a tornado has gone through the room. Once it has been tidied I can bring out my sewing machine.

My Next Project

Harrisville Highland arrived today and it is happy in it's home. 

This caused Dream State to move.

Which caused Woolstok to move.

I'm not starting tonight but here is what came home with me. It is going to be another Throwback. This time I am going to knit it in the round and steek. More on that later this week because there is knit-a-long forming in my head.

My phone rang this afternoon and it was Atenti calling to tell me that my bags are on the way.

I love my Atenti bags. They are very well made and the fabric choices are amazing!

We also have a package on the way with more pompoms.

Icy Blue has been out of stock for quite some time. I'm happy that they will be in our shipment.

There are three new colours coming.

These should be in the store in about a week.

A small package came today from Hedgehog Fibres. It is goodies for our Food Drive Basket.

I remembered to bring my skein of Le Petit Lambswool home but I'm not in the mood to go upstairs to wind the skein. I'm going to work on Hinterland while we watch Love It or List It from last night. Love It or List It with Hilary Farr who designed the fabric that Atenti used for this bag. It is in our order. Actually, three are in the order.

Family Day

Kathy was in today with her Shift. The colours are awesome. Kathy isn't loving it and is threatening to rip it back and start again. I begged and begged for her to leave it. I hope I convinced her to block it first before frogging. Maybe she will like it better after blocking.

I was looking on Ravelry this morning and found some great patterns for Erika Knight Studio Linen. The yarn is on sale - don't miss out. The colours are beautiful and the yarn is amazing!

An edge to edge bracelet length sleeve cardigan knitted in three different eyelet stitch patterns. It is worked from the bottom to the top with K1,P1 rib edges, shaped under the arm to give an elegant extended sleeve and short row shaping at the shoulders. The fronts meet at the centre back neck. The sleeves are picked up from the armhole and worked towards the K1,P1 cuff.

Sundowner is designed by Sarah Hatton.

This is Minaret.

A simple ‘T-shaped’ sweater inspired by traditional stitch textures. Worked in the round to the armholes, then worked in rows. The sleeves are picked up and worked in the round to the cuff.

A V-neck sweatshirt inspired sweater knitted from the bottom up with an extended armhole shape for comfort and style. The V-neck is worked with an integral K1, P1 rib and finished with a three-needle cast-off at the shoulder. The sleeves are picked up and worked from the armhole to the deep rib cuff.

Pretty Flowers

I'm looking out the window at snow and started thinking about sunny weather and pretty flowers in the garden.

This is the Geology Shawl knit with one Blossom from Frabjous Fibers.

Geology is the fourth shawl in my Elements shawl collection. Layers of knitted strata in different stitch patterns, this shawl will keep you interested the whole way through. The bottom-most pattern photo is the schematic with measurements. 

Like all other patterns in the collection, this pattern includes both written and charted instructions, and the pattern can be purchased individually or as part of the four-shawl collection.

Here are a few more patterns from Frabjous Fibers that are knit with Blossoms.

Inspired by our “Infinite Stripes” pattern, we wondered what would two color-morphing cakes of “Blossoms” do if worked together from opposing ends. So, we took two cakes of the same colorway and knit stripes--two rows from one end of one cake, and two rows from the opposite end/color of the other cake. The result was lovely! With a dramatically morphing cake--such as shown in “Zinnia”--even the center-most colors (which are very close to the same) are discernible. With a gradient cake--such as shown in “Globe Thistle” the shifts are very subtle and the center-most colors met and merged in the middle. 

The pattern has the option for two sizes--a 10”/25cm wide version that will wrap three times around the neck, and a 12”/30cm wide version that wraps twice. 

Started from a provisional cast-on and finished with a three-needle bind off, watch the colors interact as you go.

The pattern is free for Infinite Blossoms.
