I finally finished a project

Joji has been busy. She has another new pattern.

When designing this pattern, I tried to hold onto a single idea… but my mind kept wandering. Does this happen to you? You sit down to focus, to be present, only to find yourself running on autopilot, lost in the rhythm of repetition. 
This is the pattern for those moments—when focus slips through your fingers, when time feels like a soft blur. Maybe, when you look back, you’ll remember the hours spent knitting this sweater the way I do: like a sepia-toned, silent film, flickering with quiet movement, marking the passage of time.

Sepia Stripes is worked from the top down, seamlessly. The yoke and sleeves are carefully shaped with sets of increases for a timeless, saddle shoulder look.

The sweater is knit in fingering weight yarn.

Dad, Beth and the dogs are at the cottage. The drive up was good and they got everything loaded in the boat and across the lake with no problems. The cottage was in good shape when they got there - no winter damage. There are only one small problem. The satellite dish isn’t working. Bell is coming out to fix it on Friday which means they’ll be coming home on Tuesday or Wednesday and then head back on Thursday afternoon. Dad and the dogs will be happy. 

I spent the day knitting. I finished a shawl that has been on the needles for some time. I won’t see Alex this week but hopefully next week and I’m hoping she’ll block it for me. My New Year’s Resolution was that I would finish at least one project a month. Then we moved and that resolution fell apart. I’m going to try and get back on track.

Then I went back to my first DRK Everyday Cardi. I’m started the ribbing on the bottom. Have I mentioned that I hate ribbing? It takes way too long!!!!

Linen Traveler

We have another Traveler Cowl in the store.

Linello is a beautiful yarn made of linen, cotton and just a small percentage of viscose. The composition is not only breath-taking but it’s also a very breathable material. Perfect for hot summer days and balmy evenings, this yarn features beautiful long stretches of colour. 

40% Linen, 32% Cotton, 28% Viscose 

Machine wash cool, lay flat to dry.

It is a much lighter version and would be perfect for a spring evening. We hear knitters remarking that wool is too warm for them so a Linello version would be perfect.

I took a quick picture outside of my Traveler Shawl. Now the colours really show up.

Jackson took one of Beth’s shoes out into the snow. Carrying around a shoe is the best thing in the world.

Lying in and eating fresh snow is awesome as well.

Dad made muffins after dinner.

I hope everyone had a good day. We had a crazy amount of snow here. The roads in our neighbourhood haven’t been plowed yet. Our driveway is going to be a mess again when they do. Now it’s time to relax and knit a bit more. There wasn’t much knitting today because I took a long nap. A lazy Sunday afternoon is the best.

Tomorrow I’ll spend some time on the website - we received a few boxes on Friday and I need to put the yarn online.

I love the colours.

Dad is working beside me. They are bidding on a job on Tuesday and he is finishing the estimating. He has all the numbers written down and is adding them in his head. The only problem is that he talks while he is adding and I’m having a hard time concentrating on what I want to write.

I hope to open the store tomorrow morning. We’ll see if the snow starts early. If I can get there I will open but we might close early. The roads in my neighbourhood weren’t plowed until 10pm last night and they didn’t do a good job. The road was very icy when I came home tonight.

Rosey Pink

The February Crazy Beautiful Club colour from Emma’s has arrived and it is awesome!

Romance is in the air! February 2025 is a lovely shade of rosey pink - with a bit of sweetness sprinkled throughout!

This colour would make a gorgeous Sophie Scarf (pattern purchased on Ravelry). You need one skein of yarn and 3.5mm, 3.75mm or 4mm needles. It will depend on how tight or loose you want your stitches.

The Sophie Scarf is worked back and forth in one piece, from tip to tip in garter stitch with built-in i-cord edges. The smaller size Sophie Scarf reaches around the neck once, while the larger size can wrap around the neck twice.

For the past week I’ve been working on a Traveler Shawl. I was able to finish the first half and have picked up to start the second section. I’m using Dyed in the Wool in the colour Bamboloni.

Here is the start of my vacation knitting. I like to have it cast on and started when I get on the plane.

The people who purchased our house were doing their last walk through today. It was a scramble to tidy before heading to work. Our house is clean but sometimes a mess piles up (think 3 knitting projects by my chair or dog toys everywhere). Then there are the tumbleweeds of Jackson hair.

I’m not sure how much time I’m going to have to write posts while I’m away. The ship I’m on is huge and I will need lots of time to explore. And eat. And knit. Over the past few days I’ve been writing posts that are schedule to publish while I’m away. I will try and write a few vacation posts along the way.

Overboard

I finished another project.

This is the Traveler Shawl knit with Dream State in the colour Overboard. I finished my knitting while we were watching Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. We needed something to watch while waiting for the football to start. It is a cute movie that is perfect for knitting. If you look down at your pattern you won’t miss the plot of the movie.

I will get better pictures once the shawl is blocked. Hopefully Alex will take it on Friday and I will have it when I get home.

The game has kicked off and it’s time to knit. I’ve pulled out another half finished project to work on.

Chard

Last week we received a large order from Rowan which included a restock of Rowan Creative Linen. This got me thinking about the Rowan design Chard. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

A open lace stitch is used to create this sweater's unique breezy fabric. With exaggerated side panels, puffed sleeves and vents at the hips this striking sweater is designed by Lisa Richardson. Featuring a boat neck, this garment is worked in the deliciously cool Creative Linen, and is the perfect Summer cover-up.

A customer knit Chard and wore it into the store. It is beautiful. If you are looking for an elegant spring/fall sweater this is a great choice. 

 

With a crisp look but a soft feel, Creative Linen is a winner for spring and summer knits. Great stitch definition means that lace or texture patterns really shine in this yarn, which comes in a fresh colour palette of brights and tonals. I pulled out another project to finish. This is the Traveler Shawl knit with Dream State. I’m using the colour Overboard. It is going much quicker now that I’m on the second part which has decreases. I thought about taking it outside for pictures but it was way too cold (and tomorrow is going to be worse).

I was at home with the dogs today. Dad had a meeting near Peterborough and Beth has left us for the week. She is on a cruise. I was supposed to sew the sleeves into Framed but I got busy working and napping. Now back to my knitting.  

The Day After

Our house was full last night and we had a great time. It was very loud and everyone had fun. The meal was great! We had to move our couches out of the way so that everyone could sit at tables for dinner. Last night we were all too tired to put the couches back where they belong. Dad sat in one of my knitting chairs to watch tv. Boscoe decided that he needed to sit in the other chair. I sat at the kitchen table to watch tv.

We had breakfast this morning and then did some cleaning. After a nap I went to the store for a few hours. There are lots of boxes going out tomorrow. Thankfully Mr. UPS will be picking up again. No more driving to the UPS store. I can’t really complain about that because it was dad’s job for the past few weeks. He loves being out and about and hates being bored so it kept him busy. 

I started this Traveler Shawl a while ago. I’m using Dream State in the colour Overboard. It has been calling my name so I dug it out for tonight’s knitting.

Hello from Miami

Here’s a bit of knitting. I took pictures of my Snowflower last night before going to bed. I didn’t finish week four so I’m going to have catching up to do when I get home. 

I was up way too early this morning (2:30am) to finish packing and to get to the airport. The flight was uneventful. I knit two rows and then napped. My hotel is nice. There is a full kitchen and laundry in my room but there isn’t a desk. I should have taken pictures before I made a total mess of the place. I’m writing with my iPad on my lap so this is going to be short.

I went to the Bayside Marketplace for lunch. There were some beautiful boats in the harbour. The cruise ship port is on the other side of the bridge.

It was so hot here today. When I got back from the Marketplace it looked like I had run a marathon. It’s a good thing I packed so many clothes. 😀

The road to the port runs in front of my hotel. It will be a short drive in the morning.

I started this Traveler Shawl a while ago and brought it as my trip knitting. I’m using Bambolini Dyed in the Wool. I should have looked at it before I packed it - my needles could should be longer. I’m going to have a hard time getting pictures as I knit further. 

Have a good evening. I’m heading downstairs to get some dinner and watch football.
