LYS Day

Thank you to everyone who visited yesterday and today. It was great having a store full of people. Everyone was patient and happy and we had a great day. Thanks to everyone who purchased online as well. Beth and Lynn came in early this morning and we have most of the boxes packed and ready to go on Monday.

It was great having Lynn in the store again. Her help is very much appreciated.

This is how I’m feeling tonight.

Don’t forget that the online special run until Monday evening which includes 10% off everything.

There will be website updates on Monday afternoon. We received yarn from Hedgehog, Emma’s and Rowan on Friday.

Have a great evening. I’m moving to the couch.

Plump

Our first three colours of Plump arrived today. It is so beautiful.

Plump will be available in the store this weekend. The front colour is Sex on the Beach, then Good Omen and Ghost Ranch is in the back.

The yarn will not be online until next week. I don’t have time before LYS Day(s). I was in the store before 9 and didn’t leave until 6. The hockey game is on but I’m sitting at the table working. I don’t know if I’ll be awake at the end of the 3rd period.

We have a little surprise for those visiting the store over the next few days. There are 8 colours of Lang Super Soxx priced at $15 a ball. Then you will receive 10% off which makes it $13.50 for a 100gram ball of sock yarn.
Here is another picture of Kitation. Kits will go live at 9am tomorrow morning. I could make them live now but I’m waiting until the 10% LYS Day(s) discount starts.
These are some of the Emma’s Super Silky kits. The yarn is 80% Superwash Merino and 20% Silk.

A box is coming tomorrow (hopefully in the morning) with one more kit. This will be close to Casapinka’s colours.
I put together a few more combinations with Hedgehog Sock.

Right now there are 29 combinations online. I have more combinations in the store and will make more tomorrow when the box arrives from Emma’s. We also have a box coming from Hedgehog and if it arrives tomorrow I will make kits in Oh So Fine. There could be more kits coming to the website - it will totally depend on time.

I’m sorry for the short, disjointed post. I’m tired and have lists running through my head. The store will be open from 11am-4pm tomorrow and 9am - 4pm on Saturday.

Kitation

Casapinka posted this on Instagram last night. Here is the LYS Day Shawl. Kits should go live on Friday morning.

This is Kitation - rhymes with Citation. It’s an asymmetric triangle with 2 colors of fingering and a US 6 (4mm) needle.

I finished the knitting on my Kilim Cowl. I used one skein of Madelinetosh Woolcycle and two skeins of Dyed in the Wool. You can see that the cowl really needs to be blocked. Then the ends will be grafted together.

Today I moved around garments. Here are 4 of my 6 Shifts.
One of my Inclinations Cowls on Elah.
Freia Minikins. Passagietta and Painting Waves.

The store is still a mess. Mannequins need to be dressed and there are many signs to put up. I am on dog duty tonight so I had to leave right at 4pm. Tomorrow will be a long day. A box might come tomorrow from Spincycle. Then Friday we should see boxes from Hedgehog and Emma’s Yarns. Lynn might cry on Friday 😂 trying to find places to put the new yarns.

Socks

This is the Fuzzy Fix Cowl (pattern purchased on Ravelry). The cowl was designed by Laura Dobratz who owns a yarn shop in Florida. She is also Emma of Emma’s Yarns mom.

Emma’s Suri Silk is so soft and fluffy, I want to knit it forever! This cowl, the second that I’ve designed with Suri Silk, features a fun-to-knit lace pattern. It’s memorizable and works up quickly, making for a gratifying knit! It looks great over a tee shirt when it’s just a bit chilly, tucked under a jacket or pulled up over your head in the cold. I hope you love yours as much as I do mine!

The cowl is knit with one skein of Suri Silk.

Mr. Canada Post brought a huge box of Opal Sock yarn this morning. Lynn has it on the shelf but I haven’t had time to add it to the website. I want to say that it’s going to happen tonight but it’s not going to. We stayed up too late last night watching Vegas and Winnipeg play hockey.

I had very bad planning and scheduled a hair appointment and a dental appointment today. I didn’t accomplish much but Lynn did lots in the store. I think you will be surprised if you visit this week. We still have work to do but the store is looking much neater.
While I was at the dentist an email came through from Emma’s Yarns. A box should arrive on Friday with more colours of Practically Perfect Sock. I chose these colours to make kits for the Casapinka LYS Day Shawl.

We should have the final details for Casapinka’s LYS Day shawl later this week. Kits should be available online and in the store on Friday. Please remember that Casapinka gives the shawl pattern away for free so we are working on her schedule.

Every kit will have a Ravelry download code. The pattern must be downloaded by Sunday April 30th so we will email codes to those who order kits online. You must download the pattern because it will become a paid pattern on Monday May 1st and I won’t be able to get you a free copy.

After the dentist I stopped at Terra.
They always have the best planters out front.

Happy Monday Post

Now a happy post for today.

Spincycle just sent me an invoice and we have Plump coming. This is the Bulky weight version of their yarn. Will it make it for Saturday? Maybe.

Good Omen

PLUMP • bulky weight • 100% superwashed American wool • 100 yards per skein • hand wash cold, lay flat to dry • MADE IN THE USA FROM SHEEP TO SKEIN

We couldn't possibly be more pleased to introduce you to PLUMP, our newest, warmest, thick & juiciest yarn yet!

Kettle dyed for you on our American grown wool in some of our favorite colorways (a pretty nice mix of old standards and flashy new bangers, if we do say so ourselves) and spun on our custom Italian mills, this two-ply bulky yarn is gonna have you clearing your queue for some instant gratification knitting! And soft? Is it ever!

What else do we love about Plump, besides the record breaking time it takes to knit a hat or sweater? It's the color, duh. The same gorgeous and unpredictable color changing effect you expect from a Spincycle colorway is magnified on this macro yarn, and every color POPS!

So what's your next project gonna be?!

Ghost Ranch
Sex on the Beach

Here is my latest Nightshift. This was knit with Noro Ito. One ball each of 34 and 48.

Of course Lynn and I are moving yarn around for Saturday. Hedgehog Fibres Alpaca Boucle has a new home. The shawl is called Only Good Vibes and was knit with one skein of Alpaca Boucle and one skein of Hedgehog Skinny Singles.
Now it’s time for dinner and then hockey. While the game is on I’m going to be making price signs for the store. With yarn moving around they have been missing for a bit. I will also be making signs for all the garments hanging.

LYS Day Update

We are postponing the Outside Sale that was planned for this Saturday. It is calling for rain on Saturday and I don’t want to wait to the last minute to make the change. Yarn and rain don’t mix.

We are still going to have LYS weekend in the store and online.

-From Friday April 28th at 9am until Monday May 1st at 9pm all online purchases (including sale items) will receive a 10% discount. This is automatic.

-All purchases in store on Friday and Saturday (including sale items) will receive a 10% discount. This is automatic.

-You will earn points during the sale but you can not use points during the sale.

-There will be a LYS Day heading at the top of the website. These products will have an additional discount on top of the 10%.

Online Orders

-It is going to be busy in the store on Saturday and we might not see your order right away. Someone shopping in the store could purchase something you ordered. Should this happen we will contact you about changing the item or a refund. All orders placed on Friday will be packed before we open on Saturday.

The Outdoor Sale will be held on Saturday May 27th. I know this puts a kink in plans. We will hold another LYS Day on May 27th (more details about that later in May). The same deals will be available on both LYS days so it won’t matter which day you come. The only difference is the Casapinka LYS Day shawl. The pattern will only be free this weekend. You can purchase a kit online for pickup and we will hold it until the 27th for you.

________________

I want to say that I had a sleepless night worrying about this but I actually had a great night sleep. After much discussion we decided to move the Outdoor Sale. It is calling for rain and cold on Saturday.

Today was spent working on newsletters, the blog and social media posts. I’m trying to the get the information to as many people as possible.

There will be another post later (I hope) with pretty pictures.

Ranunculus

Alex stopped by this afternoon with three projects that she blocked for me. Thank you Alex!!

This is my Shift knit in Dyed in the Wool. I used three skeins of the same colour - Ranunculus. I picked three very different skeins for the project. Kits 100, 104 and 109 are all three skeins of Ranunculus.

The cowl goes perfectly with a jacket I own.

There won’t be any outside pictures today. The rain hasn’t stopped.
This was while I was knitting Grevillea. Today Alex brought it back blocked.
You can see the difference that blocking makes. The stitches lie flat and the lace is no longer bunched up. I loved knitting this shawl. You can’t go wrong with an Ambah O’Brien pattern.

The yarns are from Emma’s Yarns

There was one more shawl. A Nightshift in Noro Ito. Pictures tomorrow. I’m trying to write while watching Vegas and Winnipeg in overtime. It’s hard to concentrate.

Reset

Churchmouse Yarns released a new pattern. You can purchase the pattern for the Reset Slipover on Ravelry.

This season-spanning piece is a reinterpretation of the Churchmouse Classics Sleeveless Slipover. The deep, ribbed hem and open side vents give the Reset Slipover a relaxed, easy style. With options for cropped and tunic lengths—and a clever yarn choice—it’s a versatile layering piece that’s great for any season.

We knit the Reset Slipover in collaboration with Madelinetosh, selecting their brilliant Tosh Wool + Cotton for its year ‘round, easy-care aptitude! This DK-weight yarn is composed of 50% superwash merino wool and 50% Pima cotton, both ethically sourced in Peru.

Lightweight, yet nice and substantial, Tosh Wool + Cotton is a great choice for transitional pieces we love to wear in the in-between seasons. It’s nice and resilient—machine-washable on gentle cycle. And then, there’s the palette of Madelinetosh’s gorgeous hand-dyed colors!

Here are the colours of Wool + Cotton that we carry in the store.

The kits I made up yesterday for Bluegrass all sold last night. Today I made more. I’m not sure if everyone is making Bluegrass or people couldn’t pass up the amazing deal for 10 skeins of handdyed fingering weight yarn.

It’s time for hockey and knitting.
