New Project

Happy Easter. I hope everyone is having a great day with family and/or friends. It is sunny out there but the temperature could go up a bit.

I caved and started something new last night. My first thought was this pattern.

Beth was going by the storage locker yesterday and I asked her to pick me up a couple of skeins of the merino/silk, dk weight yarn. We couldn't decide if the purple (wild huckleberry) and green (boston fern) had enough contrast so I asked her to bring vintage port as well.

The three colours worked very well together. You know what that means? A linen stitch scarf. One day I will make the Pine Bough Cowl.

It's time to make desert for tonight's dinner. While the cookies are in the oven I'm going to start sewing buttons on the the little girls cardigans. It's an unfortunate way to spend time on this great day. :)

The cookies are done but not the buttons. I worked on two other tasks. I sent yarn to Ann for a cowl but she had limited time to knit before heading on vacation. I finished up the cowl this afternoon and it is blocking. Then there is a shawl that Beth knit. She was whining while casting off so I said that I would do it. Normally my cast off is fine but this one was way too tight. Then I remembered Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Cast Off. Here is the video.

I-Cord Bind Off

What happened to spring? I came to work yesterday with no winter coat. Not so lucky today. It's cold again. Seriously.

Yesterday I showed new colours of the Color Play Mohair Wrap. Here are new colour ideas for the Color Play Mohair Scarf. These are knit in Rowan Kidsilk Haze.

I just had a customer in who was finishing off a baby sweater. The pattern asked her to do an I-cord bind off. The instructions stumped her. This is a technique that a lot of knitters have never done before. Here is a You Tube Video that shows how to do it. In the video she does a knit 2 together through the back loop as her decrease. I personally do an SSK but that is just my preference.

I'm still deciding if I'm going to Toronto tonight for One of a Kind. It's cold and windy and I'm tired. By the time 4:30 rolls around I'm sure that I will change my mind and I'll be in the car heading to the show.

Someone's sister has been busy looking around on Ravelry. She decided that she wants to knit some monsters. Did I have Rebecca Danger's book The Big Book of Knitted Monsters? Can I bring it home with needles? I pulled out the book and looked at the patterns. She can handle it but will need to learn magic loop.

I talked to her and she has watched not one, not two but three different videos. I think she has it. We will see tonight.

Mr. Canada Post brought in a box of Opal Sock yarn today. Kind of fitting with my discussion of Magic Loop.

I didn't get much knitting done last night. There was a small problem with Windward (sometimes knitting after 10pm isn't a smart idea) and I had to rip out a few rows. It's fixed now and I should be on my way tonight.

Hell's Kitchen. Something big is supposed to happen tonight. Never before in Hell's Kitchen history. I can't wait!!

I'm off to pack up needles, yarn and a book for my sister. I hope she lets me eat before we get down to knitting.
