New colours coming soon

I ordered brand new colours of Opal today. Hopefully we see them in the store next week.

I had a crazy busy day and it feels like I accomplished nothing. I was supposed to finish my tax return. Didn’t happen. Was supposed to finish a newsletter. Hasn’t happened yet. Maybe after dinner.

Tomorrow we have boxes arriving from Biches & Buches and a restock of Patagonia light grey. 

I’m almost caught up. I have two days to go. I’ll be back into blue tomorrow - it was really cold today. 

New Scarf Pattern

Thru Lines is a new pattern from Andrea Mowry that you can purchase on Ravelry

I played around with the shape and style of this scarf for almost a whole year! I am so happy with where it landed, and I hope you love it, too. Knit sideways with lots of texture and a splash of color, it is effortless to wear as the perfect final layer before heading out! This scarf is knit sideways, increasing up to the widest part of the triangle and then decreasing back down.

The scarf is knit with fingering weight yarns. Andrea suggests a yarn like Le Petit Lambswool with Dyed in the Wool.

You can use any fingering yarn and for the colour changing yarn Crazy Zauberball or Edition 3 would be a great choice.

I’m almost finished. 

Yesterday I worked on my Temperature Blanket. I’m a week behind so I need to get going. The plan was to use the temperatures from my trip but I decided that it might look funny to have a band of pinks and purples. I’m sticking with the temperatures from Hamilton.

SUNDAY

This is Brenda’s Alpine Bloom. I am so jealous. Her colours are amazing and the fit of the sweater is perfect. Brenda used Practically Perfect Sock Be Hoppy with Midsommar Dyed in the Wool. Thank you Brenda for sharing.

My Alpine Bloom soaked in Soak this morning and now it’s lying out. I woke up at 5:30 this morning. After thinking about going back to sleep I got up and started knitting. My Temperature Blanket is growing.

This is up to May 28th. I will finish May tonight while watching football. The blanket is perfect knitting if your fingers want to play with yarn but you don’t want to count or follow a chart.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was relaxing. Dad, Beth and the dogs are coming home tomorrow. They’ve had fun fishing and relaxing. 

I started a post yesterday but picked up my knitting last night and didn’t come back to my iPad.

SATURDAY

The Cooma Cowl has a new home.

Cooma is a light and airy cowl that provides lots of warmth. Holding fingering and mohair together is all the rage (and for good reason, it’s stunning!) So you can swatch with a purpose! Use the cowl as a canvas for playing with color combinations, test out how each color interacts and practice holding the strands together while creating something of practical beauty!

I was up early this morning (6am) and decided to start working. While I was doing this I got everything ready to block my Alpine Bloom. I figured it could lay outside while I’m in the store to dry. It was a great idea but I couldn’t find any Soak. WHERE IS MY SOAK????? I’ll be blocking tomorrow.

What a great day!

Thank you to everyone who visited yesterday. We had a great day. The parking lot was full of shoppers! The weather was beautiful - we couldn’t have planned it any better.

Thank you for your patience with the technical problems we were having. The line took a bit longer than it should have but everyone got their yarn.

The last thank you is to Lynn, Beth and dad for helping set up and then schlepping the leftover yarns back into the store. I have a lot of work to do on Tuesday. We threw bags and boxes everywhere. 

I’m home with Jackson and Bosco tomorrow. Dad, Beth and Lucy are heading up north because the boat is being delivered. They are going out to the cottage to take a look while they are there. Dad informed me that the fishing rods are in his truck.

We are very excited about Emma’s Yarn Smalliday sets coming this fall. There are lots of advent sets online but none of our suppliers make them. I can’t wait. There are so many patterns on Ravelry for advents sets.

“Smalliday Sets” are Emma’s version of advent sets. She calls them “Smallidays” because the idea is you open one “Small” a day for the first 25 days of December! Each of her 2023 Smalliday Sets includes:

I needed easy knitting this week so I have been working on my Temperature Blanket. I pulled it out a month ago and then got behind again. I need to pick up the pace. It’s time for the pretty colours.

Awake way too early

Denise sent pictures of the Temperature Blanket that she is working on. The colours are amazing!!! This is the Kaffe kit. She is making this as a wedding gift.

My temperature blanket is at the halfway point for the year, and I thought you might enjoy seeing how the colours are coming together.  Only two colours have not yet made an appearance; I am sure they will in the near future as the weather continues to heat up.  This project has been an absolute joy, and I can already envision making one for myself in 2023.  (Same colour combo or different?  Very difficult choice!)

I made a temperature chart with yarn samples which has proven to be very helpful.  I also made a calendar grid for the year where I record the temperatures each day, and then go over them with a highlighter once I've knit the corresponding garter ridge.  I often wait until the weekend and then knit the rows from the preceding week.

I need Denise to get my blanket in order.

We had fun golfing yesterday. The front nine was very good. I shot 43 and was thrilled. Beth had a much better score than me - she shot 36. The back nine was not as good but it was worth spending the afternoon on the course.

The jets landing at the Hamilton airport fly right over the golf course. 

I’m tired from being up at 5:30 the past two mornings. Yesterday to get to the store to pack orders and take the boxes to the post office and UPS before golfing. This morning to look after the dogs. Dad was working in Toronto this morning so he was here with Lucy at 5:30. 

Cathy is making great knitting bags. I wanted these further up my post but Blogger isn’t cooperating. I tried but then became frustrated so they are staying here.

Cathy is selling the bags for $45. If you are interested you can message Sarah on Instagram. You can pick up the bag from Cathy in Kitchener or Cathy will deliver them to the store for you to pick up. As Cathy finishes more bags Sarah will show them on Instagram.

Cathy is an amazing seamstress and her bags are beautiful. 

I was able to knit for a while today while dog sitting. I am almost finished my first front. I’m going to do what Lynn did - put these on a holder and start the next front. I will leave the yarn attached to all the pieces so I can add rows before joining if I need to.

I took this a few days ago and forgot to share. The pool is upside down.

I’m not sure why Boscoe is snarling. I guess he doesn’t want his picture taken.

Spice/Spark

It’s done and I wore it to work yesterday.

Beth clicked a few pictures before I left home yesterday morning. The pattern is a combination of Andrea Mowry’s Spark and Spice cardigans. I used Harrisville Highland with Spincycle Dream State in Shades of Earth.

I loved knitting the cardigan and should have finished it a long time ago. It has been sitting waiting to be cut for at least 6 months. Now it’s finished and I’ll be wearing it every day until it’s too warm 😘

Beth is putting together new patio furniture today.

I’m caught up. It looks like the temperature is going to drop this week and I will be back to turquoise.

Jackson could lay on the step at one time. He doesn’t fit anymore.

The boys say hi. This was yesterday morning while we were doing weather pictures. The ice is all gone now.
