The Forest Glen hat started as a stash-buster, and ended up looking so effortlessly beautiful no one would ever guess it was knit from half a ball of sock yarn and some leftover fluff!  

Add a pom…or don’t. The crown looks lovely no matter your personal pomming preferences! The pattern is easily committed to memory. The double-layer hem is warm and practical. And the possible yarn combinations are virtually endless.

Main Colour (MC): Approximately 200 yards (180 meters) of fingering-weight yarn held single throughout. 
Sample shown in Schoppel Wolle Crazy Zauberball (75% Wool, 25% Nylon) in colour “Not the Foggiest”. 
Contrast Colour (CC): Approximately 150 to 270 yards (140 to 250 meters) of a fuzzy lace-weight yarn. 
Sample used approximately 150 yards (140 meters) of Hedgehog Fibres Alpaca Boucle (66% Alpaca, 34% Silk) in colour “Ozone” held double throughout.  

I love how the Crazy Zauberball stripes in the pattern.

Mr. UPS brought a box from Spincycle with a new colour of Dyed in the Wool. Meet Syringa. I did take a picture of our skeins but the colour was way off so I’m showing you Spincycle’s picture. The colour is gorgeous. This prompted me to make new kits for The Shift.

The first set of kits are three skeins of the same colour. I go through the skeins and find three that are very different. My Shift was knit with Ranunculus.

The Shift is a fun knit. I’ve knit the pattern four times and would make it again. I wore one today. It is comfortable - not too tight around the neck.

Now that the armhole shaping is finished the rows are going much faster on my Tessellated Vest.

A delicious taste of stranded colorwork, this cute cap is fun and engaging, and still simple enough for first time stranders! We’ve created a four-color motif, which—as is traditional—uses only two colors per row. Then, we came up with three different color palettes and six different charts (two charts for each palette). And then threw in one more ‘plain’ chart, so that you can make up your own colorway! 

This Colorwork Cap shines in a finer DK-weight, warm and woolly yarn with a great color palette. So we picked perennial favorite Rowan Felted Tweed!

I have been working on my Tessellated Vest. The pattern is mindless and I need that kind of knitting right now. It’s really busy in the store (that isn’t a complaint) and I need easy knitting at night. The pattern calls for 10” of knitting before armhole shaping. I’m at 10” but decided to add another 2”. I know that the vest is cropped but that’s a bit too short for me.

Dad and Fred brought me a tea yesterday afternoon. It was Fred’s first time in the store where we let him roam. He was really good. He looked at yarn and sniffed yarn but he didn’t put any in his mouth. Dad and I were shocked.

I have a bit of time to knit before dad and Fred arrive for dinner.
