It’s that time of year - new colours of Noro Kureyon are on the way to us. We also have a big restock on existing colours in the shipment.

This is Cathy’s Log Cabin Afghan knit in Kureyon. I know that I show it to you every year but it is so beautiful. This is the perfect way to play with Noro’s self-striping yarn.

You can download the pattern here. The pattern is very long but just summarize it - how many stitches to cast on and how many rows to work. It is super easy. If you purchase the yarn from us we have a cheat sheet as well.

The pattern suggests knitting 20 squares in 19 balls of Kureyon. When I knit mine I used 20 balls for 20 squares. Cathy used 25 balls for 25 squares. We used Cascade 220 for the border.

Don’t be afraid to mix colour palettes. You probably wouldn’t use all these colours together in a garment but they work well for the afghan.

Squares

I need to start a new project. Addi sent me a surprise today - advanced sets of the Rocket Interchangeable Needle Sets. Sets will be available in the store later this summer.

Why a new project? The Square needles could result in a different tension than regular Addis. You might not see it but ...

Last Day

Frabjous Fibers has introduced So Fond of Rainbows. This is a pack of 20 mini skeins. The cardigan is knit with the fingering weight set. The pattern is called Rainbows in the Gorge and you can purchase it on Ravelry.

The rainbow baby blanket hanging on the wall is knit with the worsted weight version of a So Fond of Rainbows kit. It is called the Colorburst Blanket.

I forgot that I took a picture of the baby blanket on it’s own.

This shawl is called Which Way (purchased on Ravelry). It is knit with a Mad Hatter Combo kit - sport weight yarn.

The yarn from Frabjous is in my car and we will have in the store tomorrow. You can see all the yarns from Frabjous Fibers that we carry.

There were lots of pretty colours in the madelinetosh booth. An order should be coming in July with merino light.

We love Rowan Felted Tweed. There will be new colours coming for fall.

We went to Nationals Park to see the Washington Nationals play the Chicago Cubs last night.

Our seats were great!

It was so hot out. Beth and the beer man became close friends.

Travel

I cast on my travel knitting yesterday.

I cast it on and did about 20 rows when we decided it was too tight. I started again today on larger needles. I'm using the new Noro Ito. Colour 4 and colour 12.

What am I making??? I saw on Facebook that someone had knit Nightshift using Ito. It looked interesting. Not everyone wants to use Dream State so this is another option.

The pattern asks for 5mm needles and I am using 5.5mm now. I knit a touch on the loose side to begin with so I think that if you are going to use Ito you should use 5.5mm or 6mm if you are a tight knitter.

For the first section #12 is colour A and #4 is colour B. For the next section I reversed them.
