Looking for a tam pattern? Madelinetosh has a free one available on their website. One skein of dk.
A soft, slouchy beret with a simple lace pattern and whimsical top knit in DK to light worsted weight yarn, worked from the bottom up the hat can be more or less slouchy to suit individual tastes. Sized to fit a woman’s medium.
While we're talking about madelinetosh, there are new colours of tosh for 2014. These have been ordered and I hope to have them sometime in March or April. If there is a colour that you want in a particular base, please let us know and we will make sure that it is set aside for you when it arrives.

Chicory
Ember
Farmhouse White
Hosta Blue
Medieval
Purple Basil
Red Phoenix
Sun Rose
Black Walnut

There is a new yarn coming as well. I haven't seen or touched this yarn so it has been ordered in limited colours right now. If I like it when it arrives (and you like it) we will load up on our stock.
Dandelion is a single-ply custom blend of 90% superwash merino wool, 10% fine linen. With a generous 325 yards per skein, this fingering weight yarn is more than enough yardage to complete a pair of socks and two skeins can completed a full-sized lace project. This uniquely soft, fine linen blend is hand-dyed in small dye lots.

Jordana Paige just posted this on Ravelry
Quinn in Deep Purple is our fastest-selling bag to date. Only 29 remain! We’re working on a re-order, but at this point cannot guarantee it will be available again. If we are able to re-order, it will most likely be late spring when it is back in stock. If you love this bag, don’t wait any longer to order!
We still have 3 purple in stock and then who knows. Don't wait and be disappointed.

The end is in sight. I'm using G&A right now and when G runs out I do double strand of A. Then cast off. I've been checking the weather in San Diego and it's going to be beautiful. No mohair shawl this trip...
...but I'll get lots of wear out of it here.

Tomorrow the store is open from 10-2. Then I'm coming home to hibernate until Thursday. We'll finish Season 2 of Homeland. There is also the Criminal Minds marathon. And I have Seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7 of NCIS. Lots of knitting :)

Chateau

I was taking a spin around the Classic Elite website and found a new yarn that is coming out soon. I've called my supplier and ordered it. Hopefully it will be here in a couple of weeks.
MountainTop Chalet's colorful cousin, Chateau is the same super-soft baby alpaca/bamboo blend with a chainette construction. It knits up quickly, which is perfect for last-minute holiday gifts. Any pattern written for Chalet will knit-up just as beautifully in Chateau.

Chateau debuts this November with eight vibrant, heathery colors.

The Coors Cowl will look great in colours.

This is a free pattern from Classic Elite's website.

We have the cowl knit up in Chalet (undyed colours) and it is so soft. Probably one of the softest yarns you will ever feel.

While we're talking about coming soon, I just talked with Jordana Paige. She will have Quinn tomorrow and then start shipping. I'm hoping late next week the bags will be in the store.
Look what Kim found me while she was out antiquing yesterday.
I'm very excited. It's a great start to the booth.

 Edge is growing.
Melo came home last night. Roko was very excited to see him. We don't want to leave Roko alone yet so we've been cooking dinner at home. It surprises us too. We didn't know that the stove and oven worked in our house :) It also means lots of knitting. Since I took this picture I'm into the next colour. No more knitting tonight though. I'm sitting down to work on a newsletter now.

This and That

There hasn't been much about my life lately. There has been too many 'knitterly' things to show. And my knitting is still a secret. I'll decide on the weekend if the secret is going to be shared.

It was a happy day at my house yesterday. The mattress is gone from the living room. Roko's leg is healing and he is allowed to do the stairs again. Beth was happy because she could go back to her bedroom. I'm not sure about the dogs. I think they liked the mattress on the floor. A really, really big dog bed.

We're busy getting ready for the Woodstock Fleece Festival. There will be some overlap from what we had in Kitchener but there will be some different yarns and samples too.

After the Fleece Festival my next job is to get ready for Camp. Yes, 2014 will be here before we know it. The instructors will be Sally Melville and Kate Atherley.

Sally - I don't have enough room to write everything about Sally. She has been a fixture in the knitting community in North America for many years. Sally is one of the founding members of the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild. She has taught for me at different events over the years and is one of the most professional teachers you will ever meet. Sally has written many knitting books (both technique and for garments) including The Knitting Experience - The Knit Stitch, The Purl Stitch and Colour. Three of the best knitting books you will find on the market.

Visit Sally's website...

Kate has taught many times in the store for us and anyone who has taken a class will tell you that she is an amazing teacher. Kate has written two books, has patterns for sale on Ravelry and is teaching classes through Craftsy.

We are excited that these ladies will be joining us. One thing that is very important when we choose instructors is that they are outgoing and fun. Classes are important but if they can't handle the game on Thursday night then we don't invite them. If you haven't been to Camp this might not make sense to you but for those who have come, they are nodding their heads right now.

There are 6 boxes of tosh vintage on the way to us. So far 2 have arrived (1 a day) so hopefully all will be here by the end of next week.

Mr. Canada Post also brought me more Concetta Cardigan patterns today. Perfect timing - worsted weight pattern and worsted weight yarn.

A woman's seamless, top down raglan cardigan using worsted weight yarn and featuring slightly bell-shaped sleeves. Sized from 35"-55".
The pattern can also be purchased on Ravelry...

I just did an order for some new yarn from Malabrigo. These will be in the store sometime next week.

Nube
Roving, pure merino wool. For spinning or felting. Hand dyed Nube means cloud in Spanish, we call it Nube because it's malabrigo's merino.
114gram braided hanks
$17.95 each
 855 Aguas
 862 Piedras
 863 Zarzamora
 879 Candombe
247 Whales Road

Some days I really want to try my hand at spinning. And then I give my head a shake. I don't have time to knit the yarn that is already spun. But for those of you who do spin and do felting, the Nube looks really cool. I can't wait to see the colours in real life.

Jordana sent me this picture last night. The bags have been ordered and I will post when they arrive.

And a couple of notes on the TV front. I'm still loving The Blacklist. I have given up on Hostages and Ironside. They didn't hold my interest and there are enough other shows on TV for me to watch. Survivor-some people take it so personally. It's a game! And the Y&R - I watched the other day for the first time in forever. When/why/how did it come about that Paul and Cricket got married? I'm confused.

Quinn

There is a new bag coming from Jordana Paige.
Make every outing a productive one when you carry Quinn. This boxy shoulder bag enables you to thoughtfully pack a large, bulky project, tools and daily purse items so you're always ready for a crafting opportunity. A zippered pocket hides beneath the flap with another at the back. Its two-way zipper opens to reveal its careful details; a row of pockets for tools, yarn pockets with circlets to prevent yarn from tangling, a removable pouch and a zippered divider to keep your project separate from purse items. Made from vegan faux leather and adorned with gold metallic hardware.
The bag will retail for $150 and should be available by the middle of November. The bag is coming in black, deep sea green, deep purple and praline.

Jordana's bags always have lots of pockets.
It looks great from the side too.

Here is a video with a demo of all the features of the bag. Take a minute to watch this. Jordana has really thought out the inside of the bag.

Lots of New

This time of year is great. Every day we are receiving boxes from suppliers which makes blogging very easy. There are many pretty pictures to share.

My job today is redoing the master price list for the store. There are many new yarns and I need to make sure they are all in 'the book'. New labels are being made for the shelves as well. Oh yeah, I need to start rearranging too so that everything can fit. Right now there are bags of yarn sitting everywhere.

Yesterday, Mr. Canada Post brought in a box of fun from Lorna's Laces. Lots of new colours of Shepherd Sock.

And now from one extreme to the other. Sock to bulky.
Sirdar INDIE is a gorgeous, light and lofty yarn with a riot of magnificent colours in every ball - the fabulous colour effect appears as you knit. INDIE comes in a beautifully lightweight blend of 51% wool and 49% acrylic and comes in a conventional 50g ball. INDIE is fantastically quick to knit on 12mm needles and is easy for children and new knitters alike
Yesterday in the many boxes that Mr. Canpar brought were patterns for Indie and 4 new colours.

Ms. Canada Post just brought in a box from Jordana Paige. L.J. Kaelms is back in stock.
L.J. Kaelms is a north-south tote, tall enough to fit books and magazines, your latest knitting project, supplies and purse items. The straps are that perfect length for carrying on your shoulder, which you can do comfortably because the bag starts out so very lightweight before it's filled up. Inside you'll be happy to find all the great pockets Jordana Paige is known for, plus a new one. Below each circlet is a yarn pocket. Drop your yarn in the pocket, clip the circlet around your yarn and get to work, knowing your yarn isn't going to sneak away from you.
Were you shaking your head at Big Brother last night? What was Luwan thinking when he said that they could nominate him? Has he ever watched the show? It will be interesting to see who will be rejoining the show tonight. Please don't let it be Brendon.
