Laine

Meet The Weekender Crew from Andrea Mowry (pattern purchased on Ravelry).

The Weekender Crew is born of the wonderful requests I receive from amazing knitters to my inbox! Topping the list has always been an alternate neckline for those who aren’t comfortable in a boat neck, followed closely by a DK weight option, and something made in a warm-weather friendly yarn! But I didn’t stop there, I also decided to bring the drop shoulder down the sleeves for an extra polished finish, and of course - pockets! I hope this new Weekender Crew fills another gap in your wardrobe!

This sweater is worked from the bottom up, seamlessly, except for a small seam at the underarms. Starting with a split hem, the body is joined in the round and worked that way until the divide for the sleeves. The remainder is worked flat, and the shoulders are finished with an exposed seam created using the 3 needle bind off.

I worked out yardages for different DK weight yarns. This is the number of skeins that you need for each size. I worked these out to one decimal place so you can decide how many skeins you want to purchase.

Laine Magazine 18 is available online for preorder. The release date is September 15th.

Our beautiful autumn issue is here! In Laine 18 — called Weekend Getaway — we take time to relax in a little cottage by the forest. The versatile and comfortable knits are suited for both indoors and outdoors, and they are the perfect addition to your wardrobe as the days get colder.

Designers featured in this issue: Jenny Ansah, Marcela Chang, Melissa Clulow, Emma Ducher, Jenna Kostet, Ksenia Naidyon, Olga Putano, Tiia Reho, Anna Sjösvärd and Julia Wilkens.

Beth, Lynn and I decided that we are going to do an Outdoor Sale on Saturday September 23rd (weather permitting). If you go to the top of the blog you will see a tab for the sale and you can read all the details.

Lynn was busy in the store.

Felted Tweed has been rearranged. The shelves are filled and the extra stock is in order again.

Patagonia has been rearranged as well. Lynn found colours that I did’t have on the website. They are there now.

My Alpine Bloom is dry but I don’t want to graft at night. That needs to be a daytime, I’m wide awake chore.

New Books

Lindsey Fowler’s knitwear collection Salt & Timber is inspired by the Pacific Northwestern coast. This visually stunning book features 15 cozy designs that are intuitive and easy to knit. The patterns – including socks, shawls, sweaters, hats, mitts, and even a blanket – offer thoughtful details, opportunities to make the most of your yarn stash and ways to customize the garments to fit your style.

We’ve made it easy!

52 Weeks of Easy Knits includes 52 uncomplicated knitting patterns, ranging from beanies, mittens and scarves to sweaters, socks and cardigans. The designs are fun, cosy and modern, but above all, they are a pleasure to knit.

In this clear and colourful book, there are many super-easy, quick-to-finish patterns that are perfect for beginners. The more challenging ones offer meditative projects for those with a bit more experience. All the patterns are created using basic knitting techniques, and each step of the process is explained thoroughly. The book also includes useful information about choosing the right materials and finishing your garment.

52 Weeks of Easy Knits offers you knitting inspiration for years to come – the only difficult thing is deciding what to knit first!

See all the books from Laine.

I’m not sure why I picked today as the day to move things around but it was. Hedgehog Twist Sock is moving to a new home. I can’t get all the colours up - that will be Monday’s job to move things around.
I moved the top hooks down a few rows. They were way too high before and no one could reach the yarn. I will think about this over the weekend to come up with something to hang up there.
It’s time to head home. I’m going to hit Publish before I go and hopefully I will get some knitting accomplished tonight.

LYS Day

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and shopped online for LYS Day. Hopefully we will be able to do a big event next year - with cupcakes.
We found this scarf yesterday afternoon and then I went searching for pictures. Beth knit her scarf using 4 skeins of Dyed in the Wool - 2 skeins each of 2 colours. If you like an Inclinations Cowl kit but want something easier to make then this might be the project for you. This is our store pattern and is available when you purchase the yarn.

My Inclinations Cowl is growing. It’s hard to put down - you want to see the next colour. Lynn is having the same with hers. This is her first project with Zauberball Crazy and now she understands why Beth likes to knit with it.

This is Lisa Richardson’s Elder Throw. Rowan did a KAL for this blanket in 2020 and it would be a great summer project.

A cosy heirloom blanket in a range of rich shades using the ever-popular Rowan Felted Tweed. This gorgeous blanket builds as you progress from week to week with a variety of different stitches and techniques used, including garter stitch mitered squares, simple lace, texture and slip stitch patterns.

It’s time to say goodnight. I have parcels to ship tomorrow.
