Boomerang

I did a bit of blocking yesterday afternoon. The boomerang is finished and it is a great size for a scarf. If you want it bigger then you keep working pattern repeats.

Pattern: Crazy Magic Boomerang (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: 1 ball of Zauberball 100 - colour 1699

Yarn: One String Quintet kit from Lorna's Laces - I used Tuba

The box from Fiberstory finally arrived and the new colours of Fave sock are calling me.

A 100% SUPERWASH merino, springy 2 ply with a tight twist and the look of a cabled yarn.  

Perfect for a comfy pair of socks or any other project calling for a fingering weight yarn!

There are 366m (400yards) on a 100gram skein.

We have been in our house for almost a year so I decided it was time to set up my sewing room. I got out some fabric tonight and played with a quilt idea. The thought was right but my numbers were off. Tomorrow night I'll try again. 10pm isn't a good time to be thinking numbers and trying to add fractions and make it all work.

Quintets

I'm working on a cowl with a String Quintet kit from Lorna's Laces. The pattern is the Three Color Cashmere Cowl from Joji.

Oh, this is a lovely little pattern to let the days go by while peacefully knitting away…
There are no complex stitches in this cowl, just putting together some stripes, texture and lace as they suit you best.
The yarn I used was a bit of a luxury, just perfect to spoil yourself with something luscious around your neck

I'm adapting the pattern because my kit has five colours. So far I like how the the colours are coming out.

The yarn is great to knit with. I was dreading knitting on 3mm needles but it isn't bad at all. The pattern called for a 40cm circular but I'm using a 60cm circular and the stitches aren't stretched.

The pattern is easy to follow - Joji writes a great pattern and I highly recommend knitting one of her designs.

I've been looking at the kits and trying to decide which colour I would like to make next.

Pattern: Rainbow Cowl (purchased on Ravelry)

Worked in the round from the top edge down, this cowl features a simple eyelet “raindrops” lace pattern and an openwork “sunray” lace pattern. It is finished with a picot bind-off.

After the mystery KAL is finished and the pattern is released as a full pdf, the cost of the completed pattern will increase to $6.50.

Finally Starting

We received a shipment of Malabrigo Rasta today with some colours that we haven't carried before.

-Stitch Red
-Oxido

One skein will make a great cowl.

I'm finally ready to start knitting with my String Quintet kits. I'm using two kits (Marimba and Trumpet) to make a large shawl. It will be striped and knit on the bias - the stripes will go diagonally by increasing at the beginning and decreasing at the end of every right side row.

I cast on for a different shawl in the pink that is rolled into a ball but after a few rows and rereading the pattern I realized that it was going to be hard to make sure that all colours were used or that I didn't run out of yarn. This way I can knit until I run out of yarn. Top Chef is on tonight - hopefully I can get through a lot of the purple ball.
