Socks

Lynn finished her first SoleMate sock.

This was Lynn’s first toe up sock. We thought it was best to do toe up socks to make sure she used every inch of yarn. The pattern? DRK Everyday Socks. You can purchase the pattern on Andrea’s website.

These are the socks I cast on again and again. The DRK (DreaReneeKnits) Socks are simple enough for an adventurous first time sock knitter, and available in 11 sizes so that you can make a pair for each member of your family and all of your friends! The ribbing helps to create a perfect fit and you can keep it interesting by adding in contrasting toes, heels, color blocks or stripes. (Which makes them great stash-busters!)

I found Andrea’s directions for the cast on to be very easy to follow.

Lynn says that she will definitely make these again. Lynn made the size that starts with 60 stitches and the fit is perfect.

Put your best foot forward with Rowan Sock! This delightful colour-changing sock yarn is a blend of wool and polyamide, ensuring durability whilst not compromising on style. The shades gently move through washes of colour, creating a subtle shift from one to the next.

Rowan’s new sock yarn should be arriving tomorrow. The yarn will be $25 a ball. There are 400m on a 100gram ball. 75% wool and 25% polyamide. The yarn is available online to order for pickup or to be mailed.

We received a shipment of Lang Jawoll today. There are 6 brand new (to us) colours.

Jawoll - tried and tested a million times and for many years a sock wool classic - including reinforcement yarn for heels and toes to extend the life of your socks! LANGYARNS JAWOLL is the Rolls Royce of sock yarns. The wool is sourced from Corriedale sheep: for JAWOLL we only use wool of the finest provenance from Chilean Patagonia. During shearing the best parts of the fleece are selected and sorted out. The average thickness, the diameter of the fibre, is just 25 microns (1 micron = 1/1000 mm) so the wool feels very soft and is very comfortable to wear. The Corriedale sheep live all year round in the natural wilds of Patagonia. Because of the scant food supply, their wool remains white and grows to an average staple length of 10cm. This makes it take dye well, the colours are brillant and the finished yarn is highly resistant to pilling (knot forming). In every 50g ball there is a spool of reinforcement yarn for knitting in to strengthen heels and toes. This will increase the lifespan of your socks. Due to the superior quality of the fibres JAWOLL is also excellent for baby or toddler knits and for men's knitwear.

Mr. Canada Post dropped off the Atenti Bags this morning. A different Mr. Canada Post picked up everyone’s mail orders this afternoon.

The Bonnie bag is amazing. There are 3 inside pockets and one of the pockets has a zipper. There are feet on the bottom of the bag so you can put it on the floor without the bag getting dirty. I had 5 skeins of tosh merino light in the bag and there was lots of room for more. My iPad Pro easily fit in the bag.

I was about to hit Publish and then I remembered that we are getting a shipment from Malabrigo tomorrow. There will be 4 new colours of Ultimate Sock.
Lynn isn’t going to be happy tomorrow when she has to find somewhere to put the yarn.

Now I’m going to say goodnight. Beth has started The Amazing Race Canada without me.
