Saturday Shopping

Linda has a new sweater and it is gorgeous. Linda used Rowan’s Summerlite 4ply.

I wanted to share a photo of my Shakerag top by by Amy Christoffers which I knit in Rowan Summerlite 4-ply, colour 418, washed Linen. I decided to use a neutral shade so I could wear whichever colourful shawl I wanted. And I have a few! :)

I incorporated modifications from another knitter who knit a split hem with the back slightly longer. I’m getting a lot of wear out of this this simple summer top.

The pattern can be purchased on Ravelry.

It’s a striped fabric made from exactly one yarn. The subtlety and cleverness of this is something we really love. Using two strands of Jade Sapphire Sylph, we make the stripes first with one strand, then two strands carried together.

The shape is as elemental as imaginable—it is worked from the bottom up, in the round, until dividing to work the top part back and forth. There is plenty of ease in this pullover, and drape.

I think we are ready for Saturday - except for the fact that we are expecting rain. I will watch tomorrow and then we will decide on what we are going to do.

Just a reminder

We are going to set up a small yarn shop outside in our parking lot on Saturday July 17, 2021 from 10am-3:30 pm.

  • For the safety of everyone coming masks are required.
  • We are very limited on capacity. Please no spouses, partners, sisters, brothers, friends or children unless they are a knitter.
  • Payment by debit or credit card.
  • The store will NOT be open for in store shopping
  • Park in the empty lot beside the store.
  • Weather permitting.

If you know of items you need ahead of time (knitting needles, accessories...), please order online and choose Curbside Pick Up. Mark in the notes that you are coming and we will have it outside waiting for you.

What will be outside?
  1. We have gone through some of our hand dyed sock yarns and they will be on sale. $20 for 100grams. Don’t worry - we have lots of yarn. There will be enough for everyone - whether you come at 10am or 3pm
    • Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock
    • Lorna's Laces Solemate
    • Mountain Colors Twizzlefoot
    • Prism Saki
    • more could be added
  2. The many samples that have been knit up over the past 12 months along with kits.
  3. New yarns.
  4. New bags
Just a reminder that we can’t run in and out of the store to match colours to something you already have. Think of Saturday as a Frolic or Knitter’s Fair. What is outside is all we have.

Also, we have decided to make an even better deal on the sock yarn. Buy 5 skeins and get the 6th free. Don’t worry - we have lots of yarn. There will be enough for everyone - whether you come at 10am or 3pm
