One more sleep

Tomorrow is the day - Rowan magazines will be available in the store and online.

Ambah O'Brien has a new shawl pattern. This is Lacy Business.
Make the most of two gorgeous skeins and knit up a delicate shawl. Designed to fade the two skeins into each other, you could choose boldly contrasting skeins for a more striped result. Garter stitch and eyelets create the body of the shawl and the edge is finished off with the lacy business.
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions for the lacy business.
A perfect relaxing project for a seasoned knitter or a lovely first lace project.

Madelinetosh is not arriving until Monday. Thank you Fed Ex. It frustrates me so I am going to leave it at this.

Dad and Lucy just left. It was Pizza Friday. Boscoe had way too much sleep today and has been running around like a mad man. A skein of yarn ended up in his mouth. Only the best for Boscoe - Spincycle Dream State. He doesn't normally go for yarn but so far every skein he has touched has been Dream State. There are five skeins by my chair and he loves them all.

I'm going to knit for a bit and watch another episode of Money Heist.

Elizabeth Taylor

Mr. FedEx should be delivering a box from Madelinetosh tomorrow. We will have new colours of tosh dk and merino light

This is Elizabeth Taylor and she is coming in merino light.
Bluesteau and Eleven Dark are coming in DK.

Also coming in DK - Celedon
Night Bloom
No Farewell

I ordered more Wrist Rulers today and we should see them by the middle of February.
These are a few of the new colours that are coming. All colours on the website will be in the shipment.
Wrist Ruler is a leather wristband with engraved inch and centimeter measurements. If you find yourself always needing to measure things when you’re on the go, this is the perfect product for you.
Sizes are based on wrapping around your wrist twice. Give it extra length depending on how loosely you want to wear it. Please allow an extra 1/2 inch for the stud closure.

Wrist Rulers make great shawl cuffs.

If you look at the top of the page right above the title of the post you will see 'Ancaster Community Food Drive'. I am continually updating the page as we receive donations from my suppliers.

Party Pack

We have fun new kits coming from SweetGeorgia and should see them by the middle of February.
Party of Fives in Party Pack size! Made available by popular demand, exclusive colourways from our mini-skein sets are now available in full skeins for a limited time. With the additional yardage, you can knit that gradient tee, cardigan or sweater that you’ve always wanted.
80% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon
5 skeins, each 425 yards / 388 m per 4 oz / 115g skein
A perfect blend of warmth and strength to make a hardwearing sock yarn that can stand up to your affection and abuse. Tough Love Sock is our best-selling yarn and knits up beautifully into fine-gauge sweaters, small shawls, as well as socks! Spun from 80% superwash and super soft merino and 20% nylon, this 3-ply yarn is so versatile — knit it firmly for hard wearing socks, knit it loosely for drapey shawls, or knit it doubled for a great worsted weight substitute. Suggested gauge for sock knitting: US 0-1 (2-2.25mm) | 8 sts/1

There are 6 different combinations coming - they are all beautiful.

The kit would be amazing for Stephen West's Chevron Shenanigans.
I knit the shawl and would definitely make it again.

Andrea Mowry's So Faded is another project for the kit.
This sweater sums up my ideal raglan pullover: worked from the top down, completely seamless, and just a little bit of texture to make it fit into a more modern wardrobe! Adjust the length of the sleeves and the body easily to fit your personal style!

Fading Point is another great option for the kit. This is my shawl and I highly recommend the pattern. I love wearing this shawl.
Fading Point is constructed from both ends towards the centre, and then both pieces are connected with triangles to achieve a seamless rectangle.
The pattern is completely different than its predecessor: It has sections where you blend 2 colors together and then sections with lace. The instructions are WRITTEN AND CHARTED.

Picking a colour is easy - I'm going with the first kit I showed. Picking a pattern isn't as easy - there are too many choices.

The new colours of Noro Akari arrived today. They are totally different than I thought but that's not a bad thing. I am sending Lynda the top two colours for a Nightshift. I can't wait to see how the colours play - I am totally into greens right now. Purple and green together is a bonus.

Food Drive 2020

I'm showing the Felted Tweed shawl again for two reasons. It is so beautiful and I wanted to show the colours used.

The pattern will only be available in the kit of 6 or 12 balls.

Here is the purple combination that I put together today. I would love to see this knit up but it might be too soon to ask Lynda to knit the shawl again. I'm going to send her something else tomorrow and then after that we will talk.

This is another gorgeous combination that Rowan put together.

What am I sending Lynda?? I am sure she is wondering the same thing.
New colours of Noro Akari are coming tomorrow and she is going to knit us another Nightshift with two of them. I'm not sure which yet. I want to see them in person.

It's Food Drive time again. We will be collecting food and cash donations until Friday March 6, 2020.

Our customers have been generous in the past and I hope that will happen again this year.

For every food item brought in you will get one ticket. You will get 10 tickets for $10 donated and 25 tickets for $20 donated. We will have one and possibly two baskets as prizes.

So far we have donations from

-Noro (various balls of yarn)
-Rowan (a bag of Rowan Felted Tweed)
-Blue Sky Fibers (a hat kit)
-Lykke Needles (a 3.5" interchangeable needle set)
-Biches & Buches (4 skeins of Le Petit Lambswool in 4 different colours)

Donations are coming from
-Namaste
-Madelinetosh

Our suppliers are very generous so I know the baskets will be awesome. I will be sending out many more emails over the next week.

All food and money collected is divided between 7 agencies in Ancaster and Hamilton.

If you live out of town you can call to donate and if you win we will ship the gift basket anywhere in Canada.

Maybe you can't donate right now but please consider donating to your local food bank when you can. It is a hard time of the year for these agencies. Any help is appreciated.

Tasteful in Teal

Mr. Canada Post dropped off a box from Lynda this morning. I am in love. This is a new pattern coming from Rowan for spring. There will be fade kits with 6 balls of Felted Tweed. My shawl took 2 kits (12 balls).
Since the kits from Rowan won't be in the store until March, we are going to make our own kits tomorrow. They won't be in the pretty packaging but we'll make them as pretty as we can. I'm going to put together some combinations that Rowan didn't do. They didn't do a mauve/purple version. Seriously??

The yoke of Hinterland is finished and I'm onto the plain, boring knitting. Jenn Steingass writes a very good pattern and I highly recommend her designs.
When I looked at Jenn's pattern page this jumped out at me.
PATTERN SALE! Receive 30% off all knit.love.wool patterns! This discount is valid for pattern quantity of your choice and applies automatically at checkout. Happy Knitting!
I don't know how long the sale is on for but it's a great time to stock up.
