Slowly Drifting

This is Slowly Drifting - a new pattern from Melanie Berg that you can purchase on Ravelry.

Lynn and I had a bad start to the morning. Shopify wouldn’t let me make mailing labels. We had all the boxes packed and ready to go. While waiting we started to count the Hedgehog Skinny Singles that are going on sale tomorrow evening. A whole basket was missing. After running around for 1/2 hour we figured out where the basket was. Then the day got much better.

Lynn rearranged the Skinny Single wall. All the Kidsilk Lace has been moved here as well. The wall looks great!

Now I need to run - The Price is Right at Night is on.

 I was on dog duty this afternoon. I went to the store early to pack boxes and they were delivered to Canada Post and the UPS store on my way home. Dog duty was very easy because I went for a nap. They slept on the couch and were well behaved. Unfortunately I didn’t do any of the work I had planned on - there is always tomorrow.

Happy Family Day

Here is my first finished project for February. This afternoon I sewed the back seam and put in all the ends.

Pattern: The Traveler Cowl (purchased on Ravelry)

Yarn: Spincycle Dream State. I knit my cowl with 4 skeins of the colour Hidden Place. This colour has been discontinued and is on the Dream State - Discontined Colours page. You should be able to knit the cowl from 3 skeins as long as you follow Andrea’s dimensions. I knit my cowl larger.

Needles: I used 4.5mm, 80cm Ewenicorn needles.

The knitting is finished on my Tessellated Vest. Now I need to do the armhole and neck ribbing. Unfortunately I couldn’t find my needle so I have to wait and get a new one at work tomorrow. One day I’ll get my needles in order!!

Today was a very relaxing day. Now I’m off to watch the end of the Daytona 500 and finish knitting another project. The shawl I’m knitting with the Smalliday Set from Emma’s is almost done. It was so close weeks ago and has been sitting in a basket. I’m going to cast it off tonight and I’m hoping that the nice person who blocks for me will take it home on Friday 😀. There are a lot of ends to sew in.

Madelinetosh Vintage

Moonstruck Knits has a new shawl pattern that is beautiful. It is knit with Rowan Felted Tweed and you can purchase the pattern on Ravelry. I can't show pictures because I haven't asked permission but Moonstruck Knits has a tutorial which shows the shawl and a few of the stitches used in the shawl. Even if you don’t want to knit the shawl it’s always fun to learn new stitches.

The Sophie Shawl (pattern purchased on Ravelry) from PetiteKnit is another pattern that works great with Tosh Vintage. I looked at the finished projects where the knitters used Tosh Vintage. Most used 3 skeins but a few went into a 4th.

Very Productive Day

Alex came in for a few hours this afternoon to help me unpack and to do some rearranging. 

The first job was counting the Madelinetosh Vintage and making sure the numbers on the website are correct. Vintage is on sale for 25% off - in the store and online. I need room so we’re doing some spring cleaning.

This is Lynn’s Hipster (pattern purchased on Ravelry) knit with 3 skeins of Tosh Vintage.

The next job was unpacking and putting away spring Rowan yarns. We received Cotton Cashmere, Creative Linen, Denim Revive and Four Seasons.

Then Alex started on Hedgehog. There are discontinued colours and these will go on sale next week. We want to confirm all the numbers online first. 

While Alex was counting I started to put Tessellated Cardigan kits online. I’m not finished but there are some great combinations.

It was a very productive day but I’ve been in front of the computer long enough. My kettle is boiling and chocolate chip cookies just came out of the oven. Now it’s time to knit. 

The Air was Blue

Andrea Mowry introduced the Tessellated Cardigan this morning. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

The Tessellated Cardigan is a comfy, drop-shoulder cardigan that is the perfect way to showcase this beautiful stitch pattern in the color combos of your dreams! Depending on if you choose high or low contrast colors, it completely changes the look. Instructions include options for both cropped & full length. It is worked flat from the bottom up. The shoulders are shaped with short rows and finished using the 3 needle bind off. The sleeves & button band are then picked up from the body and knit.

I’ve been working on my Tessellated Vest and the pattern is very relaxing. After a few rows you have the pattern memorized.  

I quickly put together a few combinations. 

Andrea calls for a sport weight for the main yarn of the cardigan. I looked at some of the test knits (as well as some of the finished Tessellated Sweaters) and some people used fingering weight. This picture is

I was merrily knitting away last night while watching TV. I don’t know why I looked down but it’s a good thing I did. There was a mistake 4 rows down. I tried dropping the stitches and latching them up but it wasn’t working. The air was blue. I had to rip out 4 rows. It was my mistake - pay attention!!! Knit 6 rows and rip out 4. I’m not going to accomplish much if I keep doing that. Let’s hope that my knitting goes better tonight.
