Mr. Canada Post also brought in a box from Dream in Color. We received 17 colours of Jilly with Cashmere.

I had a difficult time choosing because Spincycle Yarns has so many great colour combinations. I tried to make sure that I had colours for everyone. It's hard to believe but not everyone wants to knit with purple :)

Home Again

We made it home safely. I tried to sleep on the plane but it didn't work. I got home and slept for 5 hours. Now I'm feeling better.

Since everyone else was sleeping I didn't want to turn my light on to knit. I got a few rows done in the terminal and before take off.

The sun rise was beautiful.

Ambah O'Brien has another new shawl pattern. I don't think she sleeps.

Packing

We're up in the room have a rest - we leave here at midnight on the red eye. I can't usually sleep on the plane so an afternoon nap sounded like a good idea.

We had a great time at the concert. Blondie was awesome. It's hard to believe that Debbie Harry is 71 years old. She was on stage dancing away. The warm up act was Exene and John Doe. The name didn't mean anything to us but thanks to Google we found out that they are in a band called X which is one of the most influential bands from the punk movement of the late 70s. Then Garbage played. I wasn't familiar with all the songs but we had fun singing away to the songs we knew.

The World Series of Poker Main Event started at the Rio yesterday. Beth and I went over for a while to watch. The entry fee is $10,000. This is serious. Two groups of players are at the 'featured tables'. When the WSOP airs on TV later this summer, you see a lot of these players.

It's time to finish packing. Good Bye Vegas. I'll be back :)

Happy Saturday

It's day two of Beth's birthday. Tonight we are going to see Blondie and Garbage at the Palms. We first saw Garbage in Vegas in 1999 and when they were here this weekend we had to buy tickets.

This morning we played tourists and went on the High Roller.

You can see for a long way around you. The best part for me was watching the planes land and take off at the airport.

 

 

 

 

 

At the Cosmpolitan - look mom we bought new shoes. I don't have any knitting to report but I can talk about yarn for a minute. A lady called me a few weeks ago looking for a skein of yarn that she couldn't find anywhere. We had one skein on the website and she wanted to confirm that we had it. I recognized the area code and asked where she was from. Las Vegas. I have the skein with me and meeting her in a few minutes. It saved her a lot on shipping. And now I've talked about yarn :)

Happy Birthday Beth

Today is Beth's birthday - the reason for our trip. Like I need a reason :) Chocolate cake at The Cheesecake Factory.

I took her to see Le Reve at the Wynn. 

 

 

Another blog post in just under the wire. Beth had me running today. Her phone started beeping at 6am with birthday wishes so we got ready, had breakfast and kept going from there. We went to Fashion Show where I bought a pair of shoes and Beth used some of her birthday money from mom and dad for a pair of custom Oakley sunglasses. Over 18,000 steps today. It's been decided that we're going to sleep in tomorrow - maybe to 7.

Day Two

It was another busy day. Almost 20,000 steps. We visited the Conservatory at The Bellagio. A must on every trip.

 

The work that goes into maintaining the displays is amazing.

 More lemons. And the hydrangeas were amazing! 

Hockey is coming to Vegas this fall. We went to the arena this afternoon and Beth has a t-shirt and hat for the Golden Knights. We're going to try and see them play on our next trip.

I did get a few rows knit on my cowl. Plus ripped out a row because I couldn't count. You can't really see the pattern yet - hopefully tomorrow. The yarn is very nice to work with and I'm enjoying it. 

You might be thinking that my post is late. It's 11:30 in Vegas. I made it just in time. 

Hello from Vegas

We're here safely and had a great flight. It's only 7:30 but it feels like midnight. I might knit a few rows before bed. We went for a long walk this afternoon and it is very hot here. My iWatch says that I've walked 14,000 steps and I've been up for 19 hours. I'm tired :) 

I had to put down my knitting a few times on the plane to get pictures.

There is one more row to go on the ribbing and then onto the pattern. Great news - Spincycle Yarns is sending our order next week. I can't wait. My iPad won't save pictures of the colours that are coming - I'll show them next week when I can access them on my computer.

New Jacket Pattern

Lynda needs a new project and Blue Sky Fibers has a new pattern. Perfect timing. Mr. Canada Post picked up her yarn this afternoon and she should be knitting on Thursday.

Pattern: Janesville Jacket (pattern purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: Woolstok

This sample is knit with 1306 and 1309.

On the go or cozy at home, the Janesville Jacket is one size fits most. Knit in Woolstok; 100% Highland Peruvian Wool, with an interesting seed stitch and 21 color options, you will want more than one.

The colours in this sample are 1301 and 1317. My sample will be 1304 and 1300.

I spent some time this afternoon doing orders and sending off emails to find out when shipments will be arriving. No one was answering the phone. It was getting me a little angry and then I remembered the date. Happy Independence Day to our neighbours to the south.

Don't forget that we are closed for the next few days and will reopen on Tuesday July 11.

Our flight is at 8am tomorrow. YIKES. Frank (a friend and the owner of Ancaster Limousine) is picking us up at 5am. DOUBLE YIKES. I have so much to do tonight. See my parents. Wind yarn for my plane project. Download some TV episodes of NCIS: LA onto my iPad. Laundry. Pack. Plus I'm having my hair done tonight.

I'll blog as much as I can while I'm away. We're heading to Vegas for Beth's birthday and she has a lot of activities planned.

Packing

I need an easy airplane project. The Issa Cowl (pattern purchased on Ravelry) fits the bill. It is knit with Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool which will be coming in August. We will have copies of the pattern in the store with the yarn.

The ribbing is fair isle and the pattern is mosaic knitting.

I brought two skeins home from TNNA and can't wait to start.

Free Your Fade came along while I had my pedicure this afternoon.

In the past I have packed the suitcase in my bedroom. That means dragging a full (sometimes heavy) suitcase down the stairs. I've learned. I bring everything downstairs and lay it out on the kitchen table. Then I can take inventory before packing.

My day started way too early (especially for a day off) so I'm going to knit a few rows and then head to bed. I won't get Free Your Fade finished before I go but I'm getting closer.

Anxiety

My plan was to finish today.  I put my skein on the scale and it says that there are 50 grams left. UGH!

I don't think I knit 10 rows today. And there was no knitting last night.

Last week we went to the vet and got Melo some anxiety pills for fireworks. He had his pill early last night, had on his thunder jacket and was doing really well. Until the people across the street decided to set off fireworks in the road. Poor Melo. It was so loud and there was almost no consoling him. We finally got him settled down when it stopped. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.
