Honeycombs

Stephen West has gone Honeycomb Crazy. You can purchase the patterns on his website.

The honeycombs are super simple and addicting to knit, so this project is suitable for an adventurous beginners and experienced knitters alike.

You might ask - how are they simple? You are only knitting with one colour in a row and the honeycombs are made by slipping stitches. Here is a link to a website describing the stitch. This will help you decide that one of these patterns is for you.

These are all great projects for using up stash yarn. Or self-striping yarns. Stephen repeats colours but there are no rules.

My Spark Cardi is growing. Both sleeves are finished and now I need to knit another 2” on the body. Then joining.

Getting a picture wasn’t easy. Beth has her lego spread out on the table. I laid my knitting out on the kitchen island. Small problem - the lighting kept changing the background from green to yellow. I had to aim and shoot quickly before the colour changed. Not my best work but you get the idea.

Our yarn from Turtlepurl is getting closer. It is in Mississauga at the sorting depot. We could have it next week. Keep watching for the launch date.

Easy Eyelet Scarf

Churchmouse Yarns has adapted their Easy Eyelet Poncho and Wrap pattern and the scarf is amazing! Lynda is going to need a new project and I think that this will be it.

You can download the addendum on Churchmouse’s website. You need the original pattern in addition to the addendum.

In possibly the simplest lace pattern that exists (it’s a one-row repeat!), we’ve reinterpreted this wrap in so many yarns over the years. With the option to seam it into an easy poncho for a breezy, multi-season layer, it’s quick to knit—it’s got more holes than yarn!

We’ve knit this Easy Eyelet Wrap in a combination of Shibui Silk Cloud and Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light. Perfectly paired with the mohair fuzz of lace-weight Silk CloudTosh Merino Light’s tonal washes of complementary, hand-dyed color gain a glowing halo. Together, these yarns have the soft, lightweight warmth we love season after season!

We’ve resized our Easy Eyelet Wrap with a free adaptation to make sure we took full advantage of both Tosh Merino Light and Silk Cloud’s yardage. We kept the scarf narrow to gain a lavish length! And with the extra yardage of Tosh Merino Light, we added an abundance of fringe.

Churchmouse used 2 skeins of tosh merino light and 2 skeins of Shibui Silk Cloud for their sample. The colour is Lovegrass.

While I was unpacking Dyed in the Wool I put together five kits for Cinnabar by Andrea Mowry. You can purchase the pattern on her website.
Garter and brioche will always be my go-to ingredients for creating my favorite shawls to knit and wear! This shawl plays with two-color Garter and Brioche with the increases offset to create an asymmetrical shawl that wants to be wrapped right around you! This shawl turns up the volume on texture by using DK weight yarn in one color and Sport weight yarn in the other color!

I spent time in the store today but there weren’t a lot of pick ups. I haven’t talked about snow days. If there is a Weather Advisory, please call the store before heading out. I live in the country and our roads aren’t a priority to be cleaned.

Good Omen

Lynn and I did a very quick photo shoot today. Here is my Painting Waves. I dropped it off at Alex’s on the way home from work and she is going to block it for me. She does a beautiful job and it saves me time so that I can knit.

(Before anyone asks - I had a mask on while we were doing this - Lynn took hers off for a minute so we didn’t cover her face. I am anal about wearing my mask. I wear it when I go through the Tim’s drive thru.)

I will need a shawl pin when I am wearing this.

We were in the store later than expected because we were waiting for Ms. UPS. She is normally at the store by 9am on Monday so I was there by 8:30. It was a new driver today and she didn’t come until after 3. It was worth the wait. Meet Good Omen
Dream State above and Dyed in the Wool below. I didn’t take any home but I thought about it.
I will try and get this online tomorrow.

Joji has a new cowl pattern (you can purchase it on Ravelry). The cowl is knit in three colours of fingering weight yarn. Mini skeins would be great too.

Cowls… They are so fun to make, so warm to wear, yet taking photos of them is so hard… I hope you’ll approve of my creative styling, I just love the stitch pattern so much, I really wanted to show it off!

Join our mini KNIT-ALONG!

The Winter Trails Cowl was designed on the go…
There was a time last year when I needed something light and easy to carry with me, and I really wanted to play with these 3 colors. It is worked in the round using stripes and a very easy mosaic stitch pattern.

I didn’t/couldn’t blog yesterday because I was busy knitting. Sleeve #2 of my Spark Cardi is growing. I could be joining the sleeves to the body by the weekend.

Artichoke

Diana finished Only Good Vibes (pattern purchased on Ravelry). It is gorgeous! The yarn is Hedgehog Skinny Singles and Hedgehog Alpaca Boucle. I chose the colour Artichoke and I’m happy that I did. There is a touch of colour but I think you can call it neutral.

Only Good Vibes is a reminder to enjoy the good things that surround you — there are so many of them out there!

The design pairs garter stitch with lace sections to show what a beautiful world it is when we set aside differences to work together and lift each other up.

Diana’s next project is Pressed Flowers (pattern purchased on Ravelry).
I went through different projects on Ravelry and a few people knit the shawl with Malabrigo Rios. We are going with Magenta and Gris. The pattern calls for 4mm needles but Diana is going to swatch and she might go to a 4.5mm.

I went to take the skeins off of the website and realized that I totally forgot to add them when they arrived in December. The new colours of Rios are there now.

Dad and Lucy visited this morning to make boxes. I’m not sure how I’m going to get a box out on Monday. He has them packed in very well. And very tall.

Boscoe was helping me take pictures. He is getting used to the cone. That doesn’t mean that he likes it.
