New Arrivals

It was a very happy delivery day today.

Mr. UPS brought a huge box from Spincycle and two boxes from madelinetosh.

Mr. Canada Post brought a box of Zauberball Starke 6.

Mr. Canpar brought in the new Lantern Moon products.

This is Neveruary Dream State - a discontinued colour. I love it and use it a lot so I contacted Spincycle and asked if they could make me a batch. We have a lot now.

I mentioned that I love Neveruary. This is my Nightshift that I see when I open the store door every morning. Neveruary was used.

My cowl is growing. I carry it around in the larger of the Knit Sacks which is big enough to hold my Maker’s Board.

It’s going to be an early evening. The last two nights I was up late watching football. 

Roadblock

We used to have one Roadblock. Now we have two. Dad and Lucy came and made boxes today. I was climbing over her to get outside with orders.

This was Jackson last night. Lucy doesn’t move when you try to step over her but Jackson will sit up quickly and send you flying.

It’s a quick post tonight. The first football game just ended and the next one starts in 30 minutes.

I played with Dyed in the Wool today - our shelves were a mess. While I was putting skeins away I made up a few more kits for The Shift. This is #26.

Happy Friday

I’ve just finished row 33. The rows go fast - there are only 108 stitches on the needles.

I didn’t have much time to knit today but I had to get to the next colours.

My day at home didn’t go as planned. I was supposed to be crunching numbers but instead I vacuumed and then washed the floors. Procrastination??? When I went to university our house was very clean at exam time. Anything instead of studying.

Can’t put it down

I’m happy with my decision to double strand the Kidsilk Haze. I love working with Dyed in the Wool but there is a problem knitting with it. You can’t put down your project because you want to see what the next colour is going to look like.

I made a few with Zauberball Starke 6.

I’m not in the store tomorrow (accounting day) but I will make more combinations on Saturday.

The new colours of Ito have arrived and are available on the website.

Mr. UPS brought in 6 boxes from Rowan today. We had a big restock of Brushed Fleece.

I don’t have to be up really early tomorrow so I’m going to knit a few more rows before bed. I need to see the next colour 😘

Velvet Mirror

I didn’t want to start a new project but I had to. Let’s call it research. Andrea Mowry has a new pattern called the Velvet Mirror Cowl (pattern purchased on Andrea’s website).

This cowl gets started with a provisional cast on and then is knit sideways as a tube. A half twist and some kitchener stitch to finish it off and you have an easy to wear, cozy-to-the-max cowl to pair with all of your cool weather outfits!

Andrea used Dyed in the Wool with a yarn that we don’t carry. It is a blend of Baby Suri and we don’t have anything ‘fluffy’ with the same tension. I am using two strands of Kidsilk Haze. Andrea always adds a list of yarn substitute suggestions to her Ravelry page but she hasn’t actually knit with these yarns. She suggested a yarn like Kidsilk Haze but single strand. I was afraid that it would be too thin.

I am using Pick Your Poison Dyed in the Wool (2 skeins) with Kidsilk Haze 641 (3 balls). If you use the Kidsilk Haze single strand you will need 2 balls. So far I am happy with the two strands but really haven’t knit enough to make an educated decision.

If you are wondering about the teal - it is my provisional cast on. It will be removed when I am finished knitting the cowl.

The pattern for the beautiful sweater that Andrea is wearing will be available in a few weeks. We will be making kits. I can’t wait - I already have yarn set aside for mine.
