Golfing cuts into the knitting time

We slept in this morning until 8 which is great for being in Myrtle Beach. Beth wanted to go golfing so we got ready and headed to the clubhouse here at the Legends. We couldn't get out for a few hours so we decided to go to the Barefoot Resorts and play the Fazio course. I haven't played it in years and we had fun. The only bad part of the day was that the course was busy and our round was very slow. Thank goodness for the wind (which was in our face for the whole back nine). Beth won. Not surprising.

I had a small mishap on the second hole. I was getting into the golf cart not paying any attention and smashed my head on the roof. Beth was across the fairway from me and heard it. There is a bump on my head and I have a bit of a headache but it didn't stop me from finishing the round.

There was a lot of water on the course. Luckily we mostly played beside it and not over it.

Lots of trees too which were good for sitting under when we were waiting to play our next shot.

My knitting isn't growing. It would help if Lynda and Jess would pick it up and work on it while I'm on the course. :)

Beth, Lynda and Jess are out picking up dinner at the deli so I better hit Publish and get the table set. Maybe some knitting tonight during Big Brother.

Day two in Myrtle Beach

Today has been a lazy day. I was up early and waited for the others to get up so we could go for breakfast. Then a trip to Barnes and Noble. Who doesn't love an hour in the book store? When we got home I put on the TV and laid down on the couch only to wake up three hours later. I think I was tired. Beth and I were going to go golfing but a rain storm just hit. It is coming down in buckets. I am sending it to Southern Ontario because you really need it to break the heat. Our weather here is cooler than yours. Who would have thought July in Myrtle Beach would be cooler than Ancaster?

Cathy has been busy today in the store with many, many deliveries. Eight boxes of Rowan are being unpacked plus three more boxes from other suppliers. I wish I was Samantha from Bewitched so I could get myself home for a few minutes to get Rowan Magazine #52 and then get back here.

Yesterday we saw Nancy (our landscaper) and she told us that our grass was being cut today. Beth decided to leave them a message.

Then Jess finished up the work of art.

Jess and her mom are out shopping right now and she will be upset when she gets home-the rain has washed her drawing away.

Nancy has done a great job in our yards. The previous owners didn't do anything in the yard and everything was terribly overgrown.

I waited to Publish until after dinner incase we did something fun. We ate and then drove along Ocean Blvd. There are some amazing houses on the ocean. We drove far enough to see if the hotel that we stayed at as kids was still there. The Cherry Tree Inn is still standing and looks exactly the same as when we first started staying there almost 40 years ago.

It's now time to get some knitting done. This way I can feel like I accomplished something today. :)

Hello Myrtle Beach

Our trip here was pretty uneventful which is a good thing. :)

We made it to Morgantown WV on Saturday night and the weather was good until half an hour before we arrived when the rains hit. And they hit hard. We were going through twisty mountain roads so I was happy to be stopping for the night. Sunday we were on the road before 8am. I drove most of the way and it was a beautiful day. We had one small problem when our GPS took us a different route than I am used to. We finally met up with the route I knew and the rest of the trip was good.

I was in bed by 9 which meant getting up early this morning. Beth and I are heading the golf store. She is thinking she would like new irons. The ones she has are old and she likes mine better. Now she thinks that it's time to buy irons of her own. There is no better place than Myrtle Beach to buy clubs.

I didn't get any knitting done in the car. For the two hours that Beth drove I relaxed.

I'm going to show you something new coming from Rowan. This won't be here until October but you can dream about this beautiful yarn.

Everyone is yelling for me to get ready so the day can get started so I better hit Publish and get moving.

Rockefeller

I said that I would show you my Mystery Shawl (Rockefeller) tomorrow but I changed my mind. Here it is so far. I really like how the colours are coming along.

I'm into the fifth repeat and need to finish thirty two by Friday. Knitting with Noro always inspires you to knit more-you want to see the colour that is coming next.

We have a brand new yarn coming from Rowan and hopefully it is in the boxes that Mr. UPS is delivering on Tuesday. Kidsilk Haze Trio.

I haven't mentioned Big Brother yet-are you watching? Russell's brother. Seriously? I'm not sure how the coaches are going to work either. I think tonight will tell us a bit more about the house guests-Thursday didn't reveal too much. Thank goodness we have DVR on our TV in Myrtle Beach so we don't have to wait until we get home to watch.

On the Road

As soon as I close the store today we are starting our drive to Myrtle Beach. The truck is packed and waiting. Cooler. iPads. Laptop. Car games that Beth has downloaded. Golf clubs. I think that's all we really need. :)  We will be stopping tonight in Morgantown, WV and finishing the drive tomorrow.

I can't tell you the yarn that were used (I could guess but don't want to be wrong) but I know they are all chunky and quick to knit. In true Rowan style they are beautifully photographed.

Mystery KAL

Last night mom and dad came with Beth and I to get the clock. My dad does not pass up an opportunity for 5 Guys. After dinner dad came over to help me move my bedroom furniture and to take down our pictures. Beth and dad decided they needed a beer so we went home with dad and then I could get mom online for half an hour. Mom had a surprise for us-Beth told her about my dream. $120 US each. Nice!!

This morning has been productive. The cleaning ladies are coming today. Perfect timing. We moved furniture so that they could get all the dust bunnies. It doesn't matter how often you clean when there are two golden retrievers in the house. My bedding has been washed and the bed remade. Shoes and yarn are where they belong. Pictures taken downstairs.

Beth went to the bank and post office this morning. I think that is all our chores taken care of.

The most important thing is that yarn is wound. The first clue for the Stephen West Mystery KAL came this morning. I'm starting when I get to work.

Sign ups for the KAL are closed but the pattern will be released in August if you decide that it is something you want to knit.

Introducing the new colours coming from Lorna's Laces. These are coming in Sock, Lace and Solemate. Unfortunately hand dying yarn takes time so it will be a few more weeks before our shipment arrives.

It's later in the day and the Mystery Shawl has been started. I have a problem-do I show you pictures or not? Some people don't want to see what it looks like until they start their own. I think I will wait until Monday and by then most of you should have started and will know what the first clue looks like. I can tell you that I like how my colours look.

I just got off the phone with the ladies at madelinetosh. We have another HUGE shipment coming. They will be dying it next week and then it will be trucked here-it's too big for Post.

Mom-Are you kidding me?

I thought I was going to start on my knitting last night but it didn't happen. I did some running around to get ready to go and then early to bed. The night started out with a really stupid dream that made me mad and then the rest of the night was bad sleep. This is my dream-my mom pulled me aside to thank me for everything I did to get their new house ready. She didn't want Beth to know but she had a cheque for me. $120. Are you kidding me?? All my time and effort and she gives me a lousy cheque for $120. Remember - this was a dream. I'm not really mad at my mom. :)

I heard noise at 5:30 and Beth had the dogs out. She was having a bad nights sleep as well. After I told her my dream she was mad too. Mom offered me money and not her.

I tried going back to sleep with no luck. I was out the door by 6:45 and in Home Depot as they opened at 7. We had many keys to be copied and they are done. I was in the store by 8:15 and got lots of work done. The new Rowan yarns are on the site (they won't go live until next week) and now it's up to Korey to get the shade cards added.

I found a free Noro pattern online today. Very nice and a great way to play with Kureyon. You need 2 balls each of 2 colours

It is only 10:20 and most of my computer work is done. That means I will get my knitting started and hopefully a picture.

It's 5:20 and time to start packing up. My clock is in so we are going for dinner at Five Guys and then pick it up.

I did get the Beach Rose shawl started.

I didn't say that I got very far. I'm trying something new this time. When I knit my last shawl I knit the first 30 or so rows flat and then joined into the round when there was enough stitches. This time I am trying Magic Loop. The flowers will start on the next row. I'm not having a problem with the Magic Loop but the first row had only 13 stitches and I kept dropping the stitch markers. It's going much better now. I'm going to eat fast so that I can get home to knit. :)

Beach Rose Shawl

I started writing in the store yesterday but didn't get finished. A lot of time was spent on the phone trying to fix things. My parents don't have Internet in their house yet because a major telephone company is playing games. I have been trying to get it straightened out but couldn't get anywhere yesterday.

After work we went to visit the parents. My dad is golfing today and he doesn't have golf clubs here so he needed Beth's (Beth plays with men's clubs). My mom wanted to pay some bills online so with the magic of my iPhone I could give her temporary wifi in her house. Then we had dinner with our friend Lynda who is coming to Myrtle Beach with us. Last minute details were worked out. By the time I got home I couldn't come up with anything to write-especially anything you would want to read.

The dates and times for the Tent Sale have been finalized-originally I said Tuesday and Wednesday but we decided to add some time on Monday.

Mr. UPS brought in a box yesterday afternoon with the new Rowan magazine Just Baby.

This collection of 18 baby and toddler designs by Lisa Richardson features classic sweaters and cardigans which have been given a slight twist with the addition of button detailing and fully fashioned shaping. There are also fun dungarees and romper suits in strong colour blocked patterning.

I decided to call Rowan and find out when our books would be arriving. Keep this a secret but I think they are in the hands of UPS. They should be arriving on Tuesday. Maybe the truck will hurry and I will have them Friday before I leave.

I have decided on what is coming to Myrtle Beach with me. I won't get it done while I'm there but it is something that I have wanted to make for a long time.

Christel Seyfarth's Beach Rose Shawl. I love knitting fair isle and I like working with lots of colours. This will keep me busy until the Olympics start.

I think I have my Olympic knitting figured out as well.

Tiree from Rowan magazine #52. I don't care if it is shown on a man-I will love wearing this. More fair isle-there is a bit of a theme here.

I think I have the store in order for while I am away. The price books should be up to date. There should be price signs throughout the store. I hope I have remembered everything.

Tonight I need to finish going through the house and make it painter ready. Pictures need to come down. Dressers need to be cleaned off. Knick knacks (is that how you spell it?) need to be put away. I'm tired thinking about it. Maybe I will knit instead. :)

Decorating

Beth and I are leaving for Myrtle Beach on Saturday night. Monday morning the painters are arriving to paint our house. My bedroom is just about ready. A full garbage bag and three boxes later it is almost livable. There were some good finds!! Lots of knitting needles. Yarn I forgot that I owned. Many books (including signed books from Martin Storey, Josh Bennett, Ysolda Teague and Jenny Watson). Some things (really good things) that will be door prizes for Camp. Golf gloves. This might not sound exciting but I need special gloves because of my nails and they aren't always easy to find. Then there was my shoe collection. Many ladies come in the store telling me they have enough yarn at home to open their own store. I might be able to do that with shoes. :)

Choosing colours wasn't easy. The main walls in our great room are spiced rum (pictured). The dining room colour and loft colour have to go with it.

The second from left looks blue but it is grey with a hint of purple. My bedroom will be the fifth down (Special Grey).
The third down beige will be the dining room and loft (Bona Fide Beige)
The far right grey-third down (Requisite Grey) will be my bathroom.

I took a run to Urban Barn today to buy a clock for Myrtle Beach. Every time we visited the store for mom and dad's furniture I looked at it. I finally got off the pot.

I don't have much to pack for Myrtle Beach. I leave clothes there so that I can fly carry on. This time we are driving which means a lot of room. I have my yarn packed for the Stephen West Mystery KAL. This won't keep me busy for the whole trip so I need something else. Now the conundrum. I don't think that the Rowan will be here in time. Then there is that small thing coming up called the Olympics. I'll be working on an Olympic project so I don't really want to start something now and then something on July 27. What is on the needles that I want to take with me? Nothing. I want something new. I told you it was a conundrum.
