What a great day

Thank you to everyone who came yesterday. We had a great day. Lynn and I were tired at the end of the day and that is a very good thing.

I need to thank a few people.
- Lynn who came in during the week to help me get ready. She left home very early yesterday morning and called me around 7am that she had a flat tire. Luckily she was able to pull off the highway safely at Centennial Parkway and pull into the Honda dealership. A kind young man coming into work changed her tire for her. She was amazing helping everyone yesterday.
- Alex came a bit later and brought Lynn and I tea. She helped customers and straightened a slight messy store.
- Kelley brought Lynn and I tea in the afternoon.
- Luba brought me a stash of tea - I enjoyed it when I got home last night.
-Everyone who came - you were awesome. Everyone was patient while shopping and waiting to check out. You made it a great day.

Customers were lining up just after 7am and I let them in at 7:15. By 8:30 we had to hold the line. The store was jammed!! As customers left new people came in. Our parking lot was full and the empty lot beside us was packed. People were parking on the grass. We cleared out quite a bit of yarn. YAY!!!
I knit for most of the day. I started on Frame Your Face. My pattern is on my iPad and the battery ran down later in the afternoon so I moved to Snowflower while my iPad was charging.

I just made a fresh tea and am going to knit for a bit. I think I’m sticking with Snowflower. I’m not finished the second chart and the third chart came out yesterday. I need to catch up.

See you bright and early

A customer was in today with her amazing work.

She bought a jean jacket and cut out the back panel. Then she sewed in rug hooking canvas. These are different fabrics, ribbons and skeins of Practically Perfect Sock Smalls. She promised to wear the jacket in when it is finished. I can’t wait to see it.

I think we’re ready. I was in the store until 6:30 and have all the price signs up - I hope.

We found some older balls of Freia yarns - worsted, fingering and a few lace. These are on for $10 a ball.

The website has been updated. The Point of Sale is ready. Now it’s time for me to head to bed. I hope tomorrow is a really long, busy day.

Alpine Bloom

Last night I was lying in bed and thought that I should wear Alpine Bloom on Saturday. Then I started thinking about where my sweater was. I looked in my dresser and everywhere I had sweaters stored. I couldn’t find it. It wasn’t in my closet. After a half hour of panicking I finally remembered where it was. I was going to wear the sweater but then remembered that it gets really hot at the cash desk and it is supposed to be a warm day on Saturday. Now it’s on display.

Lynn and I tried to make it very easy for everyone to find yarn on Saturday. Tosh Vintage has moved so it’s right out front in the worsted weight room.
Tosh Wool + Cotton moved as well.

Tomorrow I’m going to put together a few more kits and start getting the website ready. All the sale yarns need to come off until next Wednesday.

Dad, Beth and the dogs are at the cottage for the weekend. It could be the last really nice weekend. This will give me time to sit and knit tonight without worrying about dinner or cleaning. The nice man from Dominos brought me pizza and now I can get back to my knitting. I’m about to start the second skein of Dream State.

Driving Again

This morning Lynn and I made a pretty display for Freia Minikins and Solemates.

Lynn rearranged a lot more in the store as well. I think we are ready for Saturday - the only thing left to do is the sale signs. I think all the garments on display have signs and I need to make sure yarns around the stores are priced.

Dad had a great day. We found out last night that he has his license back.

I’ve been knitting since dinner with the hope of getting Framed Your Face finished for Saturday. I’m not going to make it but I’ll have a lot knit so you can see how great the pattern looks and how nice the yarns are.

Lily has arrived

Mr. UPS brought in a big box from Atenti. The Lily Hope Basket and Lily Caddy have arrived.

The fabric is stunning! These are available in the store and on the website.

Dad and Beth brought me folding tables this morning and I spent some time laying out yarn.
We have a lot of tosh DK and yes there are sweater quantities of quite a few colours.

The front table is full of Rasta and I need to find somewhere to put more. Help!! I need a bigger store.
Fred was upset that he hasn’t been on the blog lately. He likes everyone looking at him and telling him how cute he is.

My Knitting

I knit on my Frame Your Face Cowl yesterday morning.

Then I moved to my Snowflower KAL for the afternoon and evening. As you can see I really changed up the colours. I wanted something totally different than the sample colours.

Hedghehog Tweedy is another yarn that will be on sale on Saturday.

Photo © Andrea Mowry
Andrea Mowry knit her Winter Beach Cardi (pattern purchased on Ravelry) with Tweedy.

I made this sign that will hang with the yarn. As you can see the pricing will be amazing on Saturday.

Here is a link to more Tweedy patterns on Ravelry.
I started rearranging on Saturday after the store closed. Lynn came in with me today and we got a lot more things moved and ready for Saturday. Freia Shawl Balls and Yarn Bombs.

Select Della Q bags are on sale.
The sale shelf has been straightened. These skeins will be $5 each on Saturday.
Hedgehog Tweedy is easy to find. The rest of the display is Rowan Fine Tweed Haze (not on sale).

I’ve started working on the price signs so we can put those up Friday after the store closes.

CLOSED FOR A FEW DAYS

I’m heading to Miami for a cruise at the end of the month. I leave on Sunday September 29th and return Friday October 4th. The store will reopen on Saturday October 5th.

My flight is booked with Air Canada. Beth called me today asking if I knew about the possible pilot strike. WHAT??? I booked another flight on Porter that I can cancel if all is well with Air Canada. I’m not missing the cruise.

Now I’m going to work on my price signs and then a bit of knitting.

Freia Minikins

A little sneak peek at a new project. I’m knitting Andrea Mowry’s Frame Your Face Cowl (pattern purchased on Ravelry) with Primrose Roan (from yesterday’s post) and Dream State. The colours are Serenity and Levitate. The pattern is easy to follow and fun to knit. I want as much knit by Saturday as possible. Now I have a quandary. Do I knit on this or start the next clue of the Snowflower KAL? I think I’ll divide my time between the two of them tomorrow while watching football.

Today is all about the Minikins - another yarn on sale this Saturday.

Fiber: Single ply 100% US Merino Wool (mulesing-free)
Care: Hand Wash
Ball Size: 25g/.76 oz – 98 meters/107 yards
Yarn Weight: Fingering
Gauge: 24-28 sts/28-36 rows over 4” on US3 (3.25mm) – US7 (4.5mm) needles
This is the Passeggiata Wrap (pattern purchased on Ravelry) that is knit with 9 Minikins. We have a few kits left with 9 different colours of Minikins that is perfect for the wrap.

Wannietta knit me two different colourways of the shawl. It is amazing!!!

This is Stephen West’s Painting Waves (pattern purchased on Ravelry). I used 9 Minikins but I think that 7 would make a large enough shawl. You will need a solid colour fingering weight yarn to go with the Minikins.

Here is a link to Ravelry so you can see all the projects that people have knit with Minikins. Hats are very popular.

In case you missed yesterday’s post.

Missing Newsletter??

I mentioned that we just sent out a newsletter and a few customers wrote that they weren’t receiving it anymore. When I looked they were unsubscribed. I don’t know why this happened. If you missed our last newsletter here is a link to it. If the emails are no longer coming to you please sign up on the website again.

Now I’m heading back to my knitting. I was in the store late rearranging for Saturday. My goal is to have displays so you can easily find yarn. I picked up dinner on the way home and then had a 3 hour sleep. Now I’m wide awake.
