Happy Saturday

Tanis Lavallee has a new pattern called the Cambridge V. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

Vests are best! Ever since completing my original Cambridge Vest, which features a crew neck, I knew I needed a v-neck version. I love how the v-neck adds lots of options in terms of layering and depending on what you choose to pair it with you can create a new and dynamic neck line that really draws the eye up. Endlessly versatile. My vest phase is definitely not over!

One option is a fingering weight with a silk/mohair blend. The other option is a worsted weight yarn. 

Mr. FedEx came yesterday with 7 boxes from Rowan. The new yarn and all the books have arrived for the launch this Friday. There are new colours of existing yarns plus one new yarn. I can’t share more at this time but will as soon as I can.

If you looked at the blog last night there wasn’t a post. I wrote it and totally forgot to hit Publish. It’s there now - I back dated it to yesterday. Make sure you take a look - we have a new store sample.

House Blend Dyed in the Wool. This was in the box that Mr. UPS brought this week. It has a purple tone to it which makes me happy.

I couldn’t find Fred last night. He was passed out behind the couch. 

Fred was helping dad eat breakfast this morning.

I forgot to give a shout out to Oneida Movers for everything they did to make our move go smoothly. Tuesday morning they will bringing everything that is in storage from dad’s house.

I’m going to try and get some knitting done this weekend. I pulled out a project yesterday and realized that I made a mistake 10 rows back. My knitting time was spent ripping back. Now it’s on track and I can continue.

Spacetime

I stopped by the store this morning so Lynn and I could ship out boxes. Lynn modeled a new sweater that Deidre just finished.

Pattern: Spacetime 18 by Heidi Kirrmaier (purchased on Ravelry)

Yarn: Le Lambswool

Colour: Soft Green Grey

# of Balls: 7

Size: M2

Neck: Rolled Edge

Shaping: A-Line

Needles: 5mm for the body and 5.5mm for the sleeves

It is knit seamlessly from the top down in the round, starting with the collar. The yoke shaping is neither raglan nor round; it’s a bit of both! 

Options: 

The pattern includes 3 options, that you can mix and match: rolled or ribbed edges; straight or A-line body shape; basic (m1l and m1r) or invisible lifted increases. If you are unsure which edge you prefer, you can make a swatch with one edge style on each end, and wash and dry it to see how they behave. 

The sweater fits Lynn perfectly. I left and don’t know if she wore it the rest of the day.

Then I went to the old house to get the last few things out. Goodbye to a great house.

I’m back in the store tomorrow. There is a box from Spincycle to open and a restock of Crazy to get on the website.

Cloud Sweater

Lynn has a new sweater. Okay, almost finished. She has a few ends to sew in yet.

This is the Cloud Sweater from PetiteKnit. Lynn used seven balls of Rowan Tweed Haze single strand.

Cloud Sweater is worked from the top down. First the back yoke is worked back and forth while short rows are worked to shape the shoulders. Then each shoulder is worked separately, back and forth and with short rows. The shoulders are then joined to form the front yoke. The front and back yoke are joined at the underarms to form the body, which is worked in the round on a circular needle. The sleeves are worked from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the armhole openings. The sleeves are worked in the round. At the end, the stockinette stitch funnel neckline is worked from stitches that are picked up 
and knitted along the neck opening. 

Knit a swatch before beginning the project to check if the recommended needle size gives you the correct gauge.

I was in the store briefly this morning to ship boxes and it was pouring rain so no outdoor pictures. We’ll do better when she is really finished.

We’re ready for tomorrow. The house is looking very sad with all the art off the walls.

I will try and write tomorrow but I have a feeling that things might be a bit crazy here.

TV and Ice Cream

We took possession of our new house. I’m sitting at the island working while I’m waiting for the TV person to come. It was an anxious few days (there were a few problems that the seller didn’t clear up) but everything came together last night.

Beth brought me a bar stool so I had somewhere to sit. I have two iPads going so I can update the website. I should have brought knitting with me. I thought the TV person was coming between 10 and noon. Then Voila is delivering groceries at 2pm. There should have been time to run home. Unfortunately the TV person didn’t arrive until almost 1. 😂  

We have TV. The sellers left the TV over the fireplace for us but I didn’t know if it worked so we brought a small TV this morning - just in case.

The freezer is ready for dad. 

Now that we have TV and a freezer full of ice cream dad is ready to move.

This is going to be my sewing/knitting room. I can’t wait. There hasn’t been any knitting the past few days and now everything is packed away.

It’s much later and time for bed. We packed more boxes after dinner. The movers are coming in the morning to pack the kitchen and breakables. Then the big move on Thursday. 

Lynn is in the store for the next few days. I’m heading over in the morning to pack orders and then back home to label boxes. I hope this is the last move in my lifetime.

Sharktooth Socks

Stephen West has a new sock pattern.

This pattern is the March sock in my Westknits Year of Socks e-book. This pattern is available exclusively as part of the Westknits Year of Socks 2025 e-book. You will receive a new sock pattern update at the beginning of each month until all 12 socks are released by December 2025. The sock patterns will be available to purchase individually in 2026.

These top-down socks are filled with fun textures. The leg features a diagonal chevron rib that flow along the top of the leg into the top foot. The back of the leg features mirroring textured triangles flanked by twisted ribbing. Choose a solid or heathered sock yarn like Life in the Long Grass Earth to make the detailed stitches shine. The pattern includes five size circumferences with instructions to help modify the length of the leg and foot to achieve the perfect fit.

Two brand new colours of Edition 3 are coming from Schoppel. We could see them by the end of the week and if not then early next week.

We used 3 balls of Edition 3 to make the Shift. I will have fun making up new combinations when the yarn arrives.

Now back to packing. I think we’re almost there.

What the Fade?!

Mr. UPS came just as I was closing Friday evening with our boxes of Hedgehog. The colours are amazing!!! I have almost everything online now. We’re going to have fun trying to get it all put away this week.

I chose my colours for What the Fade ?!

I will be starting with the green and working to the fuchsia and then back to green.

The pattern is printed and I have my needles. My ball winder is going to be one of the last thing that gets packed. 

I started knitting last night and forgot to finish my post.

I knit well into the night and then more this morning and afternoon. The colours are off. Yesterday’s pictures are very close - this photo is too lime. I’m rushing to finish my post before dinner. Then more knitting.

The first sequence is finished and now I’m fading in the next set of colours. I have each ball in it’s own ziploc bag so I can keep them straight. So far I am enjoying the shawl.
