New Yarn and Needles

Thea Colman has a new pattern. Meet Western Rose. You can purchase the pattern Ravelry.

Western Rose is my first real foray into the world of mosaic knitting and I am hooked!

A deep panel of flowers in beautiful shifting color really stands out against the sophisticated navy blue heather of the stockinette body on this one. Some ridge detail at hem and cuffs adds a tiny bit of texture - and a raglan yoke, paired with a shallow folded collar gives it an updated and easy-to- wear shape.

A stockinette body means I have included lots of options for modifying the sweater to fit your body and your wardrobe, so the pattern has instructions for alternate necklines (see the test knits!), as well as how to alter width or length as needed. And I cannot WAIT to see your color combos!

Western Rose is knit from the bottom up. Sleeves are joined at yoke and then both raglan shaping and short rows are added before working the final collar.

It’s actually a very simple knit, and seemed to fly off the needles once I cast on.

What a gorgeous sweater.

I made up some kits today for the sweater. For these I combined Lore from The Fibre Co and Dream State.
Processed in a mill in England’s historical textile region of West Yorkshire, Lore is made of 100% lambswool from the Romney sheep breed also referred to locally as Kent lamb. It is an honest woolen spun DK weight yarn that blooms into a beautiful knitted fabric after washing.  Garments made from Lore will wear well and are perfect for everyday and special adventures alike.

This colourway is very close to Thea’s sweater.

There will be brand new colours of Lore coming in about a week.

The new Addi Click Interchangeable Rocket Squared sets arrived today.
The addiClick interchangeable needle set is the only complete system which provides a patented click-in tip that will never come unscrewed while knitting. No tools are required to make a quick tip change; simply insert the cord deep into the tip, twist and release. Thanks to the Click’s revolutionary locking mechanism, the tips will remain secure until you choose to change them.

The bright blue case is the Standard Set.

The addiClick Rocket2 STANDARD set includes:

  • 8 sizes of addiClick Rocket2 STANDARD tips (approx. US 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11)
  • 1 each 24", 32", and 40" pliable, blue nylon cords with lifeline eyelets
  • Click Connector, which helps to either store stitches or combine cords
  • addiGrip to make changing tips even easier

UPS did not deliver our box from Old Soul today. I have been assured that it is coming tomorrow morning. That assurance came at 4pm. Then at 5:30 it has changed and is now being held. 👿

The new colours of Felted Tweed are gorgeous. They will be on the website tomorrow.

I have spent enough time in front of the computer. It’s time to knit.
