This is the perfect basic top for those warm days when your body is calling for something airy and breezy that lets your skin breathe.
It is a very basic shape, timeless, that can be dressed up or down.
I used a linen yarn that drapes beautifully, but it can also be worked in all kinds of materials: cotton, bamboo, hemp, silk, and even wool! This would make a really cool vest too.My yarn suggestions are Studio Linen or Pollock.
Phyllis emailed me pictures of her latest projects. This is Ambah’s Audra Wrap (pattern purchased on Ravelry). From Phyllis
I love this wrap! The yarn is a mixture of Madelinetosh, Rowan and Long Dog Yarns and it is so light and soft to wear.
From Ambah
Immerse yourself in this delicate confection, as sweet and light as fairy floss. Audra is a large bias wrap with simple shaping that begins with an eyelet border then alternates airy garter stripes with exquisite lace, like layers of sorbet and cake. Choose three colours in frosty neutrals or candy-coloured brights, work the layers as long as you like, and make it a luscious, one-of-a-kind piece. Designed to take you from early morning to cool, shimmery evenings, Audra is such an indulgent and satisfying knit, you’ll never take it off.Phyllis’ Breathe and Hope. Another gorgeous shawl. Phyllis has been a customer since we opened but I have never met her. She lives in Whitehorse. How did she find us? We were one of a very few stores that carried Rowan in Canada. We were the first store located in Ontario in the back of the Rowan magazine - the good thing about being located in Ancaster. We have talked on the phone many times and thankfully over the years the connection has gotten better. And now we can talk via email. Back then there was no internet.
Talking about Phyllis and thinking back to when we opened it reminded me that we are nearing our anniversary. I don’t actually know the day we opened. 😂 That was a long time ago. It was sometime in the middle of August. 1987. It’s late so I will tell you a bit about opening over the next few days.
