I was going through my pictures and these jumped out at me. Sarah in her Love Note. It is a beautiful sweater. After Skylights and Spark and ..... I will get mine out and finish it. 😘

Laura Aylor has a new pattern out knit in DK weight yarn.

A simple, body-skimming pullover knit seamlessly from the top down with yoke and then raglan increases. Knitted-on garter borders give texture and interest. Wear with 2-5” of ease. (Sample knit in gold-speckled yarn is an M2 worn with 5 inches of ease. Sample knit in blue-green yarn is an XS worn with 2 inches of ease.)

Pardalote

Ambah has a new shawl pattern.

Named for one of my favourite Australian birds, the spotted Pardalote; a small brightly coloured, short-billed Australian songbird related to the flowerpeckers, typically having white spots or streaks on the dark wings and crown. The name derives from a Greek word meaning “spotted”. Requiring only 2 skeins, the Pardalote shawl is a smaller project that has a big impact. Its combination of slip stitches and eyelets allow for play between the two colours, a reference to the spots on its namesake. Pardalote is a relaxing knit that will keep you engaged and results in a wearable asymmetrical triangle shape.

You need two skeins of fingering weight yarn.

Wannietta test knit the shawl for Ambah. She brought a skein of fingering weight from her stash to the store and we added a skein of Hedgehog Kidsilk Lace.

What a great looking shawl!

I check out Malabrigo’s website daily hoping that they will have Rasta available. I checked this morning and there wasn’t any. I just checked and there were a few colours. My order has been placed. Malabrigo is behind on shipping right now (there is a big demand for their yarn) so I’m guessing we will see these at the end of the month.

These will be new to us colours of Rasta.

And there are three brand new colours of Rios.

The Rios colours look gorgeous. I think that any of them would be a great choice for Andrea’s new shawl Honey Moss that I showed yesterday.

The new Della Q bags are selling well for us and for Della Q. They are sold out of a few colours. If you are thinking about a bag, don’t be disappointed. Get your order in soon. We have a limited number of Maker’s Roll Top bags in red and olive. 

We did add another colour in the Maker’s Mini Messenger - Salmon.

We’ve been waiting for the new Mindful Collection needles from Knitters Pride. They should be here by the end of the month.

Now a bit of knitting. I hope to have Skylights finished this weekend. 

Andrea does it again

During Fall & Winter, I adore wrapping up in my biggest, squishiest shawls. The Honey Moss shawl combines squishy worsted weight wool with big honeycomb cables that transition into a magnified Horseshoe lace. Once finished it begs to be wrapped up in!

The shawl is knit in worsted weight yarn. You need 1000 yards for the shawl so for most yarns (Madtosh Vintage, Malabrigo Rios, Cascade 220, Universal Deluxe Tweed Worsted) that is 5 skeins. 

We received an order from Biches & Buches today with new colours of Le Petit Silk & Mohair.

Take a look at the Ombré Cowl Hood (pattern free on Ravelry). What a great gift. You need 3 balls - 3 different colours. The yarn is knit double strand on 5mm needles - in the round. It is a perfect project for watching TV.

I am almost finished the first sleeve on Skylights. There hasn’t been a lot of knitting time here. The new colours of Le Petit Silk & Mohair have inspired me to get going. I want to finish my sweater so that I can make another one.

Match & Move

I was looking for a shawl today and found this one in my pile. It is Match & Move that I knit a few years ago and I don’t know if I ever showed the finished project.

The unusual construction results in kinked stripes that look really interesting when you wear it. The knitting is plain garter stitch and very relaxing, and the shawl is so big and comfy, it is just a dream to wear.

I knit this after making Find Your Fade so I faded my colours. My shawl is four skeins of fingering weight - the yarn I used is no longer available. My shawl is much bigger than the pattern because I knit all four skeins. You can easily make the shawl with three skeins.

I made two combinations with Uschitita - Days Like This on the left and Eyes Wide Shut on the right. Tiny Dancer is in the middle in the picture above and Feather is in the picture below.

I hit publish and then saw this pattern. I had to share - it’s a fun quick project.

A simple marled hat is the perfect canvas to use up your scrap yarns or mini skeins. Gather up your colours and pick them out randomly to explore the unexpected colour combinations that marling creates. The most fun combos will result when using speckled or variegated colourways, but semi-solids will work too. Knitter’s choice!
