Yesterday Beth and I golfed in a fund raising tournament for Redeemer University College. Our team won lowest score for Mixed Teams and Beth won for ladies longest drive. It was a great day but boy was I tired when I got home. We watched Big Brother and then off to bed.
At this point I am not sure who I want to win Big Brother. Many of them are very annoying. Why are you going on this show if you can't get along with other people? Britney and Monet-can't we get rid of both of them this week? The Brigade? Meow Meow-really? That is the name you are giving yourself?
The fall Rowan arrived late yesterday afternoon. Jane took all the yarn out of the boxes but I hadn't left instructions on where to put it. I need to find room for it!! Along with the two new yarns (Drift and Purelife Renew) there are new colours of
-Felted Tweed
-Felted Tweed Aran
-Felted Tweed Chunky
-Cocoon
-Lima
-Kidsilk Haze
-Big Wool
-Kid Classic
-Colourscape Chunky
Here is a garment from Rowan knit in Renew. I like the feel of the yarn-it will be a decision which garment I want out of the new book.
Drift looks great. Big thick wool in marled colours. How can this be bad?
Rowan sent a sample sweater in Drift as well. Sorry that I didn't get it on the mannequin properly. The batteries of my camera are dying and I wanted to get more pictures taken.
There are two new colours of Colourscape Chunky but they aren't on Rowan's website yet. Here is my favourite-there will definitely be something in this colour in my closet for the winter.
On my way to work this morning I watered the front plant. It was looking so good that I had to get a picture.
iPad and iPhone users
Before going to Myrtle Beach I could send emails from my iPad if I was at home but not anywhere else with wifi. I called my internet provider and there was a long answer which I will translate-it will only work at home or in my store. What am I going to do? It is the same on my phone and laptop. Well, I found the solution. I now have a gmail account. If you are having the same problem send me an email and I will tell you how to make it work. Very simple solution. Why didn't anyone tell me this before??
The battery for my computer is dying now as well. I am going to hit publish and get some yarn put away.

UPS-Please work with me
I don't think there will be any knitting today in the store. I just checked the UPS website and the fall Rowan is coming!! Where am I going to put it all?? I have started boxing up yarns for the tent sale to make room. There are going to be lots of great deals!
As I am writing this Ms. Canada Post came in with a box from Blue Sky Alpacas-mainly Bulky and Della Q. There hasn't been any sign of Mr. UPS so I went online to see what it says and the news isn't good. The parcels won't be arriving today. Maybe tomorrow. This doesn't make me happy and it won't make Jane happy-Jane is working tomorrow (I am golfing-it's a fund raising tournament so I couldn't say no).
Here is the Rosemary Bag that came in the box from Della Q. This is a great bag if you are knitting socks-a perfect fit for a ball of sock yarn and your needles.
We have four colours in stock.
I just came back from a coffee run and checked the UPS website. Now it is saying Thursday for the Rowan to arrive. I'm not happy but there isn't anything I can do so I'm not going to think about it again until Thursday.
Here is my Malthese Shawl-I am into the 8th flower now. In some ways I am happy that the Rowan isn't arriving today. Now I can work on my shawl for a few more nights. :)

This cute little bag looks great on the arm as you knit on the go. The closure serves as a perfect way to feed your yarn, tangle-free. An outer pocket holds any notions! The bags are made out of 100% Taffeta Silk. Very shiny and pretty.

Cables
I just tried tracking my fall Rowan online. There are 9 boxes coming. HURRY!!!
I promised you lots of cables for fall and here is a selection from Rowan's new book Purelife Autumn.
From Rowan's website
The magazine also features British Sheep Breeds and the new British Sheep Breeds Boucle.
The new yarn, Renew, knit up.
You are going to see lots of short sleeved/sleeveless sweaters this fall. I like this idea-less knitting to get your garment finished!!
A WOW sweater or is it a poncho with armholes or is it a vest? Hard to say but it looks great.
The store is closed on Mondays for the summer so that I can get other work accomplished. I have been busy all day (meaning I didn't take the nap that I wanted) but nothing has been accomplished.
I had a list of things to do today
-write a newsletter
-do my PST
-do my GST
-get my accounting up to date
-mail out parcels (done)
-write a blog post (working on it)
-unpack my suitcase
-take Beth lunch (done)
-go to the grocery store (done)
-make dinner (done)
-do some computer work for Beth (partially done)
-have my nails done
Since I didn't get my list done I will be working on it tonight-no knitting for me!!

Post-take two
We just finished dinner and Beth is watching her movie with subtitles. I decided to use this time to finish a blog post that I started this morning. I finished it alright-with the delete key-that is the reason they tell you to write something and then reread it the next day before posting.
On Friday a shipment came in from JUL. The box included shawl pins, buttons and purse hardware. Here are a couple of the shawl pins we received.
This is one of my favourite-I have it in my collection of shawl pins.
The fall Rowan should be arriving this week!! I am very excited. Here are some pictures from the new Purelife Autumn magazine. Okay, I can't upload the pictures right now. Blogger is having one of its temper tantrums. Now I will have some pretty pictures for tomorrow.
It is almost time for Big Brother. Of course I am watching it this summer. Why make an alliance the first week? This always comes back to bite you. And a showmance the first week. That didn't take long!! I'm off to knit. Seven flowers are now complete on my Malthese.

Back at it
Beth is making dinner (nachos) so I am quickly doing a post. My choice for dinner was something on the barbecue but neither of us was willing to stand outside in the rain.
I am back at the Malthese shawl-here it is halfway through the seventh flower. The work is now on a 100cm (40") circular needle. The rows are taking a lot more time to get through!!
This picture should have been taken outside but the rain ruined that thought.
The plan for tonight is to get some knitting done while watching TV. I need to relax after the trip. :) Beth went to Blockbuster and rented the first few episodes of Glee-everyone says that the show is great. Beth also rented a movie-Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Unfortunately the movie is in another language (Swedish??) with subtitles. That makes it hard to knit and watch!!

New Putter
Last night we watched the episodes of Big Brother that we missed. My knitting sat beside me but I was just too tired to pick up the needles. It is packed in the car and I hope to get some done in the store today.
I am writing before going to work because I got up early to watch golf.
I didn't do much shopping in Myrtle Beach but I did visit two different golf stores. These are huge (think grocery store) selling anything and everything to do with golf.
On Monday we golfed a beautiful course that none of us had played before. My putting was atrocious and I am normally a very good putter. That made up my mind-time for a new putter.
I now own an Odyssey Divine Line Marxman Putter. This is a ladies putter-didn't know there was a difference between a putter for men and women. My old putter was also an Odyssey that mom and dad bought me when Odyssey putters first came out many, many years ago. Beth tried my putter on Tuesday and now she wants it!!
We have to golf in a tournament on Wednesday (I'm pretty upset about this :)) so she will be able to try it again. Then there might be a phone call to Myrtle Beach. "Mom and dad, can you go to the golf store and get me a putter??"
I need to get a few things before heading to the store-the cleaning ladies are coming today and I need to tidy the house. Enjoy the beautiful weather. Hopefully you are on the golf course!!!

Back to work
We made it home very late last night. The highway was down to one lane in St. Catherines so we were stop and go for over half an hour. The dogs were very excited to see us and did not want us to go to bed so we watched the first episode of Big Brother. Needless to say I am very tired this morning.
Here are some pictures from the trip.
This is my parents pride and joy. When they arrive in Myrtle Beach they phone home to let us know that they arrived safely. The first thing out of their mouths is that the house looks as beautiful as they remember it.
In front of the house is a huge magnolia tree. My dad loves this tree!! When I was taking pictures he kept telling me to make sure I got one of the tree.
We got home from dinner one night and someone commented on how many pairs of shoes were sitting at the front door of the house. Thirteen people makes for a lot of shoes!!
We golfed the Dye Course on Tuesday-one of my favourite Myrtle Beach courses. Right now the course is open to the public but they hope to take it private in the next few years. If you are a golfer going to Myrtle Beach make sure you add this course to your list!!
It was so hot on the course that I couldn't continue bringing the camera out to take pictures.
There has been no content on the blog for the past week so I am adding a pretty picture. Rowan is supposed to be shipping today from the US. Here is another amazing design from #48 called Anastasiya.
Sarah worked in the store while I was away. A lot of boxes came in and she was busy unpacking and trying to get the yarn on the shelves. We really need a bigger store. :)
Tosh DK
Tosh Vintage
Kauni (yarn and patterns)
Christel Seyfarth Mongolia Jacket kit
Addi turbos-we should be restocked on everything
Berroco Sox Metallic-four new colours
Mountain Colors
-new colours of Bearfoot
-new yarn Crazyfoot-merino wool/nylon blend
There are many updates to be done on the website and I hope to get started on those later this afternoon.

Leaving Myrtle Beach
We are sitting in the airport waiting for our flight out of Myrtle Beach. It is a small airport (only six gates) and it is very quiet today.
Last night was a late night playing cards. Poker then six handed Euchre. I'm glad I wasn't one of the people trying to sleep.
We decided not to golf today. It is so hot here that you are wet and tired when done. We don't get into Buffalo until ten tonight which makes a long day.
After breakfast this morning dad dropped me at the outlet mall (across the road from the Legends) while he ran to do errands. There is a Coach store at the mall and I was hoping for a good find but no such luck. It was so hot out that I didn't want to wander much and was happy when he got back to pick me up.
The rest of the day was spent with the family-we are good children. :)
Our trip was great. Five rounds of golf is nothing to complain about. We really need to try and get here more often.
The plane has arrived from Charlotte so I need to hit publish. I do have some pictures for tomorrow.

Legends
We have been here for a couple of days now but true to a vacation in Myrtle there isn't enough time in the day. I keep saying that I need to write a post but somehow I can't get in front of the computer to do it.
This is the condo that we are staying in. Who is the we? Beth, our cousin Paul, Paul's daughter and I. Mom and dad's house is full and we have no where to sleep.
Todays round of golf was played on The Parkland-one of my favourite courses. It is extremely long which makes it really hard but I love the challenge.
Here is another picture of the course. The greens on the Parkland are huge.
The Parkland is one of the three courses at The Legends (where mom and dad's house is.)
This is the clubhouse. They don't build them small in Myrtle Beach.
The house is very noisy!! A poker game is going on at the kitchen table. I am in my mom's sewing room watching the Home Run Derby.
The only shopping I have done so far has been at the golf store. Balls, gloves and tees but nothing exciting. I am hoping to go to the Outlet Mall tomorrow afternoon after golf.
I can't tell you how we have spent our time here but it seems like we are always on the go. My knitting is still in the suitcase.
My bed is calling-we have an early tee time in the morning at another one of my favourite courses. I need to get a good night sleep so my game is good!!!

Hello Myrtle Beach
Yesterday morning I received an email from US Air that we could check in online. It was going to cost $50 to upgrade to business class for one leg of the flight. Wasn't sure if it was a good deal since the leg was Charlotte to Myrtle Beach (a 50 minute flight) so I called US Air. Upgrading means you don't have to pay for checked bags and we each have 2 bags to check (a suitcase and golf clubs) which would cost us $60 each at the airport. We sat in prime seats for the shortest flight ever!!
The trip was uneventful. A bit of turbulence from Buffalo to Charlotte but nothing we couldn't handle. Dad is back at the airport picking up more people and then we are off to the golf course.
The fall Knitty is up-take a look at Jewels. Knit in handspun or Spud & Chloe Outer. Another project to add to my list. My suitcase was already packed or the yarn might have come along.

Fall Noro
It is Wednesday night and I am starting Thursday's post early. I really want to go to bed but must get some laundry done before I can pack and until I pack there is no sleeping.
Unfortunately there was no knitting Wednesday night so there are no pictures for Thursday. The shawl will not be coming on vacation with me. If the weather is nice there will be no time for knitting. If there is rain I will be in a house with thirteen people. Not the best conditions for knitting. I have Noro Kureyon packed to work on squares for my Log Cabin Afghan.
I was looking at one of my supplier's websites to get a last minute order done and found the cover to Jenny Watson's new book for fall.
Here are some more pictures from the book. I don't know what yarns are used but can you really go wrong with a Noro sweater?
Sorry that the pictures are so small. They are the only ones I could find online.
After work an email came from Amy at madelinetosh. My shipment of tosh vintage is leaving the US this week. We will be receiving
Logwood
Composition Book Grey
Kelp
Moss
Violin
Ms. Taylor
Tart
Isadora
There could be a lot of new yarn in the store when I get back. :)
We are flying out of Buffalo on Friday morning. Beth has issues about getting to the airport early-we can't get there early enough for her. You never know what the traffic will be like or how things will go at the border so we are staying across from the airport Thursday night. It means extra sleep in the morning.
It is now Thursday morning and I am in the store. Yesterday really was Beth's birthday. For the past two years Beth has had birthdays at random times during the year-whenever it suited her. In 2008 she had a birthday in October during Knitting Camp. In 2009 she had a birthday in January. We were at TNNA in California and while eating out there was an amazing chocolate cake for birthday people. Of course Beth had a birthday in January. Then she had another birthday in September at Knitting Camp. Really, whenever it suits her she makes it her birthday!!

Happy Birthday Beth
Today is Beth's birthday. She can be a hard person to buy a gift for. She doesn't want much and if she wants something she will go out and buy it. We are going shopping in Myrtle Beach-she wants a new golf club-a Vokey wedge. Apparently these make you hit the ball closer to the hole.
After talking about Martinis yesterday Irene wanted to know how I make my Apple Martinis.
One shot of Sourz.
One Shot of Vodka. I like Level Vodka but any Vodka will do.
Two shots of apple juice and shake!!
I have been working like crazy to make sure that everything is in order for Sarah.
-tape in cash register
-price lists
-tidy store
-orders done (Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky and more Tosh Sock)
-lists of what is coming so she can get it put away
-lists of anything that could possibly go wrong and I bet I have forgotten something
Now I need to go and make up some kits.

Martinis
A very cute box came home from Columbus with us and I finally unpacked it yesterday. Bev and I spent a bit of time shopping in Crate and Barrel-one of my favourite stores. I want everything!! They had these cute martini glasses and I couldn't pass them up. There is a collection of Martini glasses in my cupboard and these will make a great addition. Of course I had to try one out last night-Green Apple Martini. YUM!!
I just received an email from madelinetosh that Tosh DK should be shipping this week. I have asked for a confirmation of the colours in the box and will let you know.
Perrin is new pattern from KnitWhits. Another sweater that I am going to have to knit. I love it!! It is knit in the round starting at the neck and working down. A great pattern for those afraid of sewing together.
The yarn used is Noro Yuzen. Korey should have the new shades added to the site this week.
I didn't get much knitting done today. Because I am going away for a few days I need to get the store in order for Sarah. Here is Malthese-I am almost finished the sixth row of flowers.
Beth is yelling that it is time for Hell's Kitchen-gotta run.

VEGAS HOT!!!
It is seriously hot out there today. Normally I have lots of errands to do on my Monday off but a quick trip to the post office is it for today. Because I am going to be home all day I kept the dogs with me. The warehouse can get warm in the summer (who air conditions a warehouse?) but today is going to be unbearable. Think about wearing a fur coat outside today-that is how Roko and Melo are feeling.
They spent part of the morning lying on my bathroom floor. It is one of the coldest rooms in the house-nice air conditioned tile.
I am now into the sixth row of flowers on my shawl. There is increasing at the beginning and end of every row-the rows are getting a lot longer!!
My plan for the day is accounting but it has been put on hold for a bit. Mom has an iPad and the Geek Squad is going to their house in Myrtle Beach tomorrow to set up her wifi. I set her up with a new email account and we are going through and clearing out old email addresses. It is kind of like my dad cleaning-if you haven't used it in a year then you don't need it.
I have been working on the accounting for a while now but I need to find something in my Paypal account and Paypal isn't cooperating today. I think this might be a sign that I should walk away from the computer for a while. Maybe a nap?

I have been working on the accounting for a while now but I need to find something in my Paypal account and Paypal isn't cooperating today. I think this might be a sign that I should walk away from the computer for a while. Maybe a nap?

iPad
When I bought my iPad I bought the keyboard dock to go with it. I hadn't tried it yet but pulled it out this morning. Great. It is very easy to type on and if you are doing lots of typing it is nicer than typing directly on the iPad.
I have only a few small complaints about the iPad but my major one was sending emails when I am away from home. I use 'Mail' for my emails but messages won't send when I am using someone else's wifi. If I am staying at a hotel I need to log in to my webmail to reply to anyone. On the iPad, my webmail won't let me type messages. Some weird glitch that I have researched and other people have that problem. With the keyboard I can type in webmail. At least that problem is solved-the keyboard will be traveling with me.
Now if I can find out how to add pictures to a blog post while away I would be a very happy person. I have done research about this and at this time it isn't possible.
The fifth repeat of flowers are done. I was so tired by the end of the Nascar race that I couldn't see straight so the knitting had to stop for the night.
Beth is golfing today so the dogs and I are trying to keep cool in the house. I have finished the work I need to do and it is time to pull out the knitting again.

Y&R Marathon
Last night Beth and I went upstairs to watch TV. After the first episode of the Y&R Beth couldn't stop. She wanted to see Victor find Adam. At 1am I finally went to bed. I think she would still be watching if I didn't quit. We didn't watch any other story lines-I had to figure them out while she was fast forwarding through them.
I did get some knitting done and am into the fifth row of flowers on the Malthese Shawl. Nascar is on tonight so I should get more knitting accomplished.
We are going to see lots of big, thick yarns again this fall. This makes me happy-quick knitting. :)
Rowan has a new yarn coming out called Drift-100% merino wool chunky-think of a marled Big Wool.
This is colour 902.
Here are two garments that I really, really need from the new Winter Drift magazine.

Here is the whole magazine which combines Drift and Big Wool.

Who can complain about knitting on 10mm needles?

Burrow.
This might be the first garment I knit when the new Rowan arrives. I love the knit/purl pattern and it looks great in the marled yarn.

Fourth repeat done
We had a great time golfing yesterday. My score wasn't very good but I hit the ball much better than on Sunday. Beth had an amazing round. My plan was to get some knitting done last night while watching the Y&R but Melo was quite upset by the fireworks-he needed to sit in my lap.
I spent a lot of time knitting in the store today. Boxes arrived that should have been unpacked but there will be time next week for that. :)
One more row and the fourth pattern repeat will be done.

The Rowan website has the preview to Magazine 48 available now. We hope to have the magazine in the store the week of July 19th.
Here are some of my favourite designs.
Knit in Felted Tweed Aran.

Knit in Felted Tweed Aran.
I love the shape of this jacket as well as the colours used. How can you go wrong with purple and teal?
Also knit in Felted Tweed-I don't know if Aran or Chunky.
Normally I get a poster showing all the garments from the magazine along with the yarns used. This time there are only three sweaters on the poster-not a lot of help.

Fabulous cables. It is shown on a man but there is no reason why a woman can't wear this sweater.
I'm not sure about the belt but the sweater is beautiful. You will be seeing lots of cables this fall.
Since I am on a roll with my knitting today I am going to move upstairs and knit some more.

Happy Canada Day
This is going to be quick because Beth and I are on our way to the golf course. Two games in one week-I need to get practice in before Myrtle Beach.
Very little knitting was accomplished last night because I was too busy watching TV. Why can't I knit and watch at the same time? I am trying to get through my many, many taped episodes of the Y&R. There are only a few story lines that interest me so a lot of fast forwarding is going on. Adam is alive. Amazing!! Can't wait to see where this is going. I think there is still 3 weeks worth of episodes to get through.
Have a great Canada Day!!
