It’s a Mystery! And it’s a One Skein Wonder! And it’s by Joji!
Hello and welcome to another Mystery Knit-Along with Joji.
We’ll be knitting together a very easy but gorgeous shawl over the course of four weeks.Designing and writing a mystery shawl is a nerve-wracking process: you never know if you’ll meet everyone’s expectations. I don’t want you to be disappointed with the result, so I’ll share a few details about the project. But since this is still a mystery, I’ll keep some surprises for later!
Here are some facts about the shawl we’ll be making:
- It is a crescent shaped shawl. It can be worn over the shoulders or as a scarf.
- Approx. measurements are 68” (170 cm) wide x 15¼“ (38 cm) deep.
- This is a small one skein shawl, so the clues are really doable within one week.
- It is worked in only one color, but feel free to use colors as you like. Perhaps you feel like striping, fading, marling? That would make this shawl truly a mystery.
- You will need approx. 420 yards (384 m) of fingering weigh yarn. You can still make it with 400 yards… but 420 will work better. And if you have more than that, you’ll be able to use them. You can also use yarns in a different weight, with a similar yardage (for example: 440 yards of DK). The result will be a bigger shawl.
- Good for all levels. This is an easy shawl and there are no complex techniques used. There is no brioche involved. No short rows either.
Clues
There are 4 clues to be revealed and they will be delivered weekly as follows:
clue 1 - Nov 1
clue 2 - Nov 7
clue 3 - Nov 13clue 4 - Nov 19
Each clue will be sent as a ‘pattern update’ on Ravelry and you will have to download it from your library.
This is our Pressed Flowers (pattern purchased on Ravelry) knit in Malabrigo Rios. I can’t find the sample 🤬. Lynn and I have tidied and we put it somewhere very safe. I’m hoping we can find it for Saturday.
The shawl was knit with 6 skeins of yarn - 3 for the background and 3 for the flowers on 4.5mm needles.
Thank you to everyone who visited today. It was crazy in the store! I love days like this when I’m busy from opening to closing. Now a bit of TV before bed.
