Come knit with us

Andrea Mowry has a new sock pattern. After seeing this Lynn and I decided that we are going to knit them. Yes, you read that correctly. I am going to knit socks. I have knit socks but I normally spend my time knitting sweaters or shawls that I can wear and people can see them.

I had so much knitting my Spark Cardi and Sparky pullover for this years Rhinebeck-inspired knitalong, that I just didn’t want the fun to end! Enter Sparks - these spicy socks are knit from the top down with an Afterthought heel and will keep your feet toasty all year long!

Andrea used a fingering weight yarn for the main colour of the socks along with a skein of Dyed in the Wool.

Lynn and I are going to use a skein of SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock and a ball of Crazy.
This is my combination - I will be casting on tonight.
This is Lynn’s. The yarn looks periwinkle but it is purple. We will not have matching socks but we are okay with it.

We also put together a few combinations using Lang Jawoll and Uneek Sock. If you want your socks to match perfectly then this is the yarn for you.

Kits are on the website and you will find them here.

You can make up your own combination. Here is a link to all our fingering weight yarn. Please don’t pick a single ply yarn - you will have holes in your socks within a few weeks. We also suggest yarn with nylon in it. Your socks will wear better with nylon. If you need help putting together a combination please send me an email.

Join us for a KAL (knit a long)
I will have more information tomorrow but here is the start. Purchase the yarn from The Needle Emporium and knit with us. I think we will have an end date of December 31, 2020. Send me a picture of your finished socks and we will enter you into a draw for prizes. We have door prizes that suppliers donated for Camp so this is a good way to share them with you.

A shipment came today from Spincycle and we have a new colour of Dyed in the Wool. Meet Lapis

What a beautiful colour.

Lots of pompoms arrived today. They will be on the website tomorrow afternoon.

Here is my story from Wednesday evening. I went upstairs to go to bed and my bathroom door was locked. Beth went up to get my sweatshirt earlier in the evening and pulled my bathroom door closed. I have no idea why it locked but it was. There is supposed to be a ‘key’ above the door frame for emergencies like this. We checked every bathroom and there wasn’t one. I read online and watched videos and we tried to open the door. We used nails, knitting needles, drill bits and Allen keys but nothing worked. I worked on the powder room door while Beth worked on my door. I finally got the powder room to unlock with one of the drill bits but it wouldn’t open my bathroom. Beth ended up outside (at midnight) with a drill bit hammering it to MacGyver a key. Finally we were in at 12:15.

The Great British Baking Show is on and I am starting my socks.
