American Scenic

I was searching on Ravelry for a new pattern that is coming from Freia Fibers. It isn't up yet but I found a pattern that was new to me.

Pattern: Antheraea (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: Freia Shawl Ball. This size shawl takes two balls. You can do a smaller shawl with one ball.
What to do with beautifully hand painted yarn? The dye work is stunning but obscures most texture patterns, leaving you with an unsatisfying mess that shows off neither the yarn nor your knitting. Antheraea is the answer! Simple mitered shaping and short rows add design interest while leaving the yarn and dye work to shine through magnificently.

Last week I talked about the new yarn coming from Blue Sky Fibers. It should be in the store by the end of the week.
Blue Sky Fibers is proud to announce our partnership with fiber designer Tabbethia Haubold of Long Island Yarn & Farm. The first of a Made-in-the-USA collaboration, American Scenic is being offered in four beautiful color options.
FIBER CONTENT:50% US Alpaca, 30% US Merino, 20% Silk
WEIGHT:3oz / 100yds / 91m
NEEDLE SIZE:8-11 US / 5-8mm
GAUGE:4-5 sts per inch  / 2.5cm

There are two free patterns for the yarn. The cowl takes two skeins and the hat can be knit with one. The yarn is super soft.

I've finished up a newsletter today and it will be going out Wednesday morning. Watch your inbox. If you don't receive our newsletter, you can sign up at the top of the blog.

Lucy started doggy day care today. It is a beautiful facility in Ancaster. A huge farm with a pond - we know that Lucy loves water. She is wiped out. The lady who looks after the dogs said that Lucy was timid today. Kind of like the new kid in school. She's having a sleep over tonight because dad is leaving very early for work tomorrow - 5am is way too early for him to bringing Lucy here. Beth will drop her off at day care. Hopefully she won't be quite so timid.
