Lynn is pondering Arboreal for her next knitting project. The yarn she is looking at is Lore from The Fibre Co. Her debate is whether to knit it in blues or greys. 

Arboreal is worked seamlessly from the top down. The stranded yoke is worked and then short row shaping is added on the back to shape the shoulders and neckline. The sleeves and body are separated and worked top down. Optional, gentle waist shaping makes for a feminine fit. It’s fun and meditative to watch the leaves grow as the yoke is knitted. The chart is easy to follow and memorize and is suitable for a beginner, calling for only two colors. This design lends itself to many types of yarn and color combinations: Choose 2 colors for simplicity, create a faded effect in the yoke background, or simulate a turning leaves effect by creating a gradient with colors of your choice.

Lucy was lazy too. This is how she eats dinner. Why get up when you can eat lying down? She gets upset if Beth puts her food in a deep dish - then she has to stand up.

Le Petit Lambswool

kareno / 枯野 is a boxy, cabled pullover worked from the top down. Front and back are worked separately at first, then joined at the underarm to be worked in the round down in one piece. After a lateral braid worked above the hem, the body is divided again and the front and back ribbings are worked back and forth. Sleeves sts are picked up around the arm opening and worked in the round to the cuff, then worked back and forth. The pullover can be worn WS out. Enjoy different faces of cables. kareno / 枯野 means dry winter grass filed in Japanese.

The pattern calls for Le Petit Lambswool - 2 strands held together.

We should see an order from Biches & Buches later this week with brand new colours of Le Petit Silk & Mohair and Le Petit Lambswool. 

While I was on their website I saw this great cardigan.

The cardigan is worked flat in pieces from the bottom up and the sleeves are sewn together. It is worked in stocking stitch and has a lace motif on the upper part of the body. The sleeves are extra wide and 3/4 length.

We have made a version with buttons/buttonholes and a version without. Follow the instructions for the version that you prefer.

I spent some time this afternoon remaking our kits for Newleaf.

There are brand new combinations and more will be added this week. I love Dyed in the Wool but there can be a big difference in the skeins. I want the website to show the actual colours you will be getting if you purchase the kit. I can’t offer the exact same kit in every size - we might only have one skein of a colour of Dyed in the Wool. If you see a colourway you like but need a different size, please contact me. If I have enough skeins I will make you a kit. If I can’t make the kit exactly the same I will send you pictures of a kit that is very close.

Now I’m going to put my feet up and knit. Skylights is growing. The body and sleeves have been divided and the body is 4” long. I need to knit to 12”. Hopefully this week. 

Terra Shawl

Joji has a new pattern. You can’t go wrong knitting one of Joji’s patterns. They are very well written and the finished garment is gorgeous.

I love this shawl so much, especially the fact that it’s SO QUICK to make, and you can adjust how small/big you want it to be.  

It is a continuous repeat that you can keep making over and over until you run out of yarn.  

My sample was made using only 2 skeins of DK (although every last bit of it was used!).

I received an email today with pictures of the bags that are going to replace Namaste bags. I am so excited but I can’t share yet. The bags should be shipping to us at the end of November - just in time for Christmas. As soon as I can share I will because I think you will really like them. 

We will have two new sock yarns from Opal coming in November. The colours look great! 

Someone came out to play this afternoon. It’s probably the last day this year.

Rose

I have loved Andrea Mowry’s Rose Cardigan from the minute she released the pattern. There just hasn’t been time to make it.

This open cardigan is a true adventure in knitting! Combining unique sideways construction, cables, fading and exposed seams to create a flattering oversized dolman style sweater that looks great on all types of figures! Knit in one color or four, to suit your style! This sweater has a beautiful curved underarm that creates a lot of drape for an oversized look, with long, slim cuffs that give you different styling options. You can either wear them long, to accentuate the slender portion of your arm, or cuff them for a shorter sleeve!

We just received a number of colours of tosh sport that I ordered specifically for this cardigan. I think Wananietta might need a new project.

I am always questioned about this. This is from the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority and they posted it on their Twitter account this morning. 

Beth asked me to take a picture of our stairs and share with you. They are clean now. She didn’t want you to think that we were going to leave Boscoe’s mess.

And then this happened during dinner. The vacuum is out again.
