Happy Saturday

Here is another ‘I started this yesterday and then got home really late (we close at 5 and I was in the store until 7) so my post didn’t get finished’ posts. It will be extra long today.

I’m onto the next set of colours. The Inclinations Shawl is a great project if you need mindless knitting.
Svetlana Gordon has a new pattern. These are amazing! You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

Blocking

We have new Blocking Wires coming tomorrow. I just checked the FedEx tracking and I think I should say that they are arriving on Monday.

What helps you finish your project like a professional? Blocking. And that is a task made much easier with these fantastic flexible blocking wires.

Walcot Wires by Walcot Yarns are a flexible, no kink wire that you can bend around any shape you need. Perfect for crescent shaped shawls, picot edges and getting your sweater pieces to have nice neat edges to sew up, blocking wires are a game changer.

Walcot Wires Blocking Tool is made from rust-free, flexible memory wire. Each set contains 3 x 100cm wires and 4 x 175cm wires along with 30 stainless steel t-pins for blocking countless combinations of knits. These modern blocking wires coil up neatly in a zippered pouch when not in use making storage easy.

This product contains nickel.

We had a restock of Cascade 220 Heathers today. I put together a few more kits for the Douglas Cardi.
Take a look at the purple in this kit. It is awesome. I’m not sure why we haven’t had this colour in stock before now.
This picture shows the colours better. The first was taken inside and the second outside. Small problem with the outside picture - I used the wrong grey. Now that I’m looking at it I’m going to add this one to the website as well. Then knitters will have a choice.

Lynn is working away on her cardigan and is going to bring it in tomorrow for pictures.

I put together some more kits for Joji’s Frank Shawl.

The main colour is the same as Joji’s - we just changed the contrast.

The individual colours are available on the website if you want to pick a different contrast.
Freia Fibers posted these pictures on Instagram.

Oscilla - New Pattern and kits coming very soon - here’s a preview of some of our favorite kit combos. This is a great project worked with six Freia Minikins in coordinating, but contrasting, colors. A soothing slip stitch pattern feels like gentle waves as you’re knitting this rhythmic repeat, hence the name “Oscilla”. Each sample shown here in six Minikin combos, optionally pick just two colors to show the full unbroken gradient. Pictures of the two color versions coming soon

I’ll post more as soon as the pattern is available.

I love Minikins. So much colour in a little ball.
Someone needed a shower after work. The grass was cut at work yesterday and Boscoe’s paws were an awful shade of green after running outside many times today.

Best Friends

Mr. UPS brought in two huge boxes from Madelinetosh this morning.

There are new colours of Wool + Cotton. They will be added to the website tomorrow. I can see colours that would make a beautiful Douglas Cardi.

There was a restock of Tosh Merino Light including a new (to us) colour - meet Pop Rocks. Kits for Joji’s Frank Shawl are going out tomorrow.

Mr. Canpar came with three boxes from Soak.
We restocked these cute Soakboxes. These are perfect for yourself and for gift giving.

What is it: The perfect gift to give or to get. This gift set includes one bottle of Soak travel size stylishly matched to our Eco Wash Bag in the Slim - 16” circle format.

The Eco Wash Bag is made from 100% RPET, post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, and each wash bag diverts 8+ plastic bottles from oceans and landfills. Soak has been bottled in 100% post-consumer resin bottles since 2012, saving 15.6 tons of C02 emissions per year.

How it works:

  • Soak is the modern way to clean and refresh the laundry you love.
  • The Eco Wash Bag is designed to keep all your Soakworthy items safe during machine washing. Protect your lingerie, swimwear, active wear, scarves, sports bras, baby socks, knitwear, and embellished garments.
  • Place your favorite delicate items inside the Eco Wash Bag. Zip and secure zipper pull under tab. Wash in cool water on the delicate cycle with Soak. Lay knits and lingerie flat to dry. The Eco Wash Bag is ideal for top and front loading machines, including HE. Also dryer safe.
  • Flight friendly.
Lynn and I sent out a lot of boxes today.
These are the SweetGeorgia Advent Kits. Canada Post delivered them at 10am and we got them in the post today.

Best friends.

There is a baseball game to watch. I am very close to joining the next colours on my shawl. I would like to think it will happen tonight but …

Hello November

Stephen West introduced new patterns today. This is the Spiraling Cables Triangle.

Choose a main color and contrast color to knit this cabled DK weight shawl. The triangular shape begins at the small point and increases sideways toward the wide border. Slip stitches form the crisp cables and stripes and you only have to work with one color at a time. The spiraling cables flow into a diamond trellis pattern and a picot hem finishes the edge of the shawl. Choose a solid main color combined with a self-striping yarn like Spincycle Yarns Dream State or Schoppel Wolle Stärke 6. These marled self-striping yarns form the most fascinating background stripes for an addicting knitting project.

These new patterns are from Stephen’s new collection called Hibernating

Hiberknitting 2 contains 7 designs that you can knit with DK or worsted weight yarn. This e-book includes individual PDFs of each pattern with detailed written instructions and inspiring photos. You will receive 2 shawls, 2 hats, a sweater, cowl, and blanket.

You can purchase the patterns as an ebook or individually on Stephen’s website.

The Westknits Hiberknitalong is our annual winter KAL that begins in December. The Hiberknitalong is focused on relaxing and cozy knitting projects as we knit together into the new year.2021 will be our second Hiberknitalong year and this year we're featuring beautiful kits from Spincycle Yarns and Schoppel Wolle.

The Hiberknitalong is open for anyone to join with any yarn. We always prepare an abundant selection of kits and design fun goodies and notions to go along with these winter themed packages. This year you will also receive a signed copy of Stephen West's new Hiberknitting book with your kit!

Check out the FAQ page for any of your burning questions.

This is the Cabled Trellis Shawl.
This colorful shawl features two skeins of the main color striped with self-striping contrast colors. Garter stitch and slip stitch cables decorate the top center of this shawl and then flow into an expanding diamond motif. The semi-circular shaping blends seamlessly with the crossing cables. The border is finished with a folded picot hem. You can use DK or worsted weight yarn to knit this architectural shawl.

Thank you Stephen for giving me lots of bright pretty pictures for tonight’s post.
If you aren’t familiar with Zauberball Starke 6 here is what the yarn looks like. We have a lot of colours in stock with more coming next week.

If you are interested in the shawls (they take the same amount of yarn) send me an email and I can make colour suggestions.

I was in the store this morning to pack boxes and meet the mail man. Then I came home to place orders. More Addi needles. Also Crazy Zauberball and Starke 6. Then I did an order with Blue Sky Fibers and The Fibre Co.

This is the Woolstok Light Big Bundle - 14 full skeins of Woolstok Light which is a fingering weight yarn. These should be arriving this week and are available on the website.

The Bundle will make the 14 Color Woolstok Light Wrap.
Knit with 5 grams or less of each of the 14 colors of Woolstok Light, this colorful, striped hat is super lightweight and perfect for spring or fall.

You can download the free pattern on Ravelry. The wrap and hat would make a great pairing. You might run a bit short on the wrap - I’m not sure if you use every last bit of the skeins - but who would notice if you wrap is a few rows shorter?

I will share my purchases from The Fibre Co later this week when I know the arrival date.

Now a bit of knitting.
