Donegal Twists

This afternoon I ordered a brand new yarn for fall.

Donegal Twists is a subtle twist of two beautiful yarns, giving the perfect balance of strength, colour and handle. It blends together 28% Worsted Spun Luxury British Wool and 72% Woollen Spun Soft Donegal Merino. This traditional yarn is designed by the Baa Ram Ewe team and is made in Kilcar, Ireland at Donegal Yarns woollen mill.

100% of our wool comes from non-mulesed sheep.

Yarn weight: DK

Approximate meterage: 270m/295yds per 100g

Hank size: 100g

Tension/gauge swatch: 28 rows, 21 sts to 10cm/4” (4mm needle)

Suggested needle size: 4mm

Composition: 28% Worsted Spun Luxury British Wool, 72% Woollen Spun Soft Donegal Merino Hand wash and dry flat.

I saw a sweater knit in this yarn when I was at the trade show in Chicago and fell in love. Baa Ram Ewe is knitting the yarn to a DK tension. I think that you could knit it on a larger needle (4.5mm or 5mm) and knit it to a worsted/aran tension. I have a skein and need to try some swatches before the yarn arrives.
Here are a few of the colours that will be coming.

Here is a video from Baa Ram Ewe showing their yarns being made.
The family is at the cottage and I’m having a quiet evening. I brought out What the Fade?!
Six more rows and then I’m fading into the fifth colour.
