New Kits

Dad and Beth were on the road early this morning. I was on dog duty. I brought home a big basket of yarn to take pictures and get new kits online. There are different colours combinations for the Attune Shawl.

This is a brand new (to us) colour of Patagonia called Seaweed.

What the Fade?! I would definitely make this shawl again,

There are new combinations for Autumn Alpine.

The above combinations are on the website. I made a few more but Shopify is acting up so the combinations below will be online tomorrow.

We are expecting fun boxes tomorrow. New colours of Le Petit Silk & Mohair and new colours of Malabrigo Rios.

The Jays are on and it’s time to knit!

What the Fade?!

I finished last night.

Dad was very concerned about all the ends hanging. I told him not to worry - Alex will look after them.

When I was finished I went back to my Temperature Blanket. That is going to be my knitting tonight while we watch the Jays.

I’m on dog duty tomorrow so I’ll get a skein of yarn wound and get back to Night Lights.

King Salmon Light

This is King Salmon Light by Caitlin Hunter. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

King Salmon Light is a fingering weight version of my King Salmon sweater. Knit from the top down, this sweater features a bold salmon design on the yoke, a relaxed, comfortable, unisex fit and is easily adjustable in the sleeve and body length to create a perfect fit.

This version has a more traditional shape than the original design, the yoke is a standard depth as opposed to the exaggerated yoke depth of the original, worsted weight version. You can find the original King Salmon sweater here!

The sample shown here is a size 4, with 14” of positive ease on a 34” bust for an oversized fit. I recommend choosing a size with 3-14” of positive ease depending on your style preferences.

I used Brooklyn Tweed Loft for mine, which has been discontinued. Any fingering weight wool or wool blend that you can get gauge with and like the fabric of will work beautifully for this design! Please see the testers’ versions in the projects for alternative yarn ideas.

Le Petit Lambswool is the perfect yarn for this sweater.

This is King Salmon (pattern purchased on Ravelry) that is knit in worsted weight yarn.

My shawl is almost finished. I’m 3/4 of the way through the I-Cord bind off. Over 550 stitches takes a long time.

I was looking on Ravelry and there is a new pattern for a knit Granny Square. Yes, you read that correct. Now knitters can make Granny Squares and they look very similar to the crochet version. Here is a link to the pattern on Ravelry.

Dad is going to an arena in Toronto tomorrow so I have cookies in the oven for him. Then a bit of TV and finishing my shawl.

Butterfly

Butterfly is the most talked about sample in our store. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

This short row shawl looks lovely in either a long transition mutli-colorway or in placed color OR with bits and pieces from your STASH.

Instructions are expressed in a new and unique method which I developed and that most American knitters are familiar with. The instructions let you know when you are on the right side or wrong side and gives extensive stitch counts. For some, it takes away a lot of the confusion sometimes found in other expressions of short rows.

There is a lot of counting and this is very important. It is not a great project to knit while only partially focused in the short row sections. But there is also a lot of plain, garter knitting employed. For every short row section, there are rows in between that are more simple to execute.

A few pattern notes:
Pre-reading of this pattern can cause confusion. If it does not make sense when doing this, try casting on and only reading a bit ahead to see if it starts to make sense as you work.

The shawl is knit with short rows but these are easy short rows. No wrap & turn. No picking up bars on the come back row. You knit to where Marin tells you to turn and you go back in the other direction.

I put together kits this afternoon in more summery shades.

While I was making kits for Butterfly I made a few more for Ooey Gooey.
I spent way too much time on the website today and need to close my iPad. My eyes are tired. Beth is going to find us a movie and I’m going to get back to my knitting.

New Colours

When Fred is tired at night he leaves us and goes upstairs to sleep. This is how we found him last night - in Beth’s shower.

Earlier in the evening he was on the landing going upstairs. When we purchased the house we had the company who installed the stairs come in a give us a quote to put backs on the steps. We had read that dogs don’t like open stairs like this. Our dogs have no problem with them. If Fred lies here he can see into the kitchen - just in case someone is getting cookies or ice cream.

We have three brand new colours of Noro Akari. These are available online and in the store.
