Emotional Support Chicken

A very popular pattern on Ravelry right now is the Emotional Support Chicken. I cast on one this morning.

I’m using Noro Ito for the chicken and Cascade 220 Superwash Merino (double strand) for the beak and comb. I won’t be adding a different colour for stripes on the chicken. There will be enough colour change with the Noro.

Life is Hard. We all need a chicken to make it all better!
This is a modification of a pattern by the late Bev Galaskas for Fibertrends called Henrietta and Family.

Bev Galaskas was a personal friend of mine. She taught many times at our knitting retreat and we spent lots of time together at trade shows. I can hear her laughing as I am writing.

You can create your own magical comfort chicken, that doesn’t need a permit to always be with you! It is loveable and huggable and you don’t even have to feed it to love you back!

I haven’t made it very far but the pattern seems to be well written and easy to understand.

Get ready for a mystery sock-knitting extravaganza! I'm thrilled to announce that the Surprise Sock Along is back for its second year.

Throughout July, we'll knit the Color Popportunity Socks, unveiling new details and design elements each week. The Westknits Surprise Sock Along is all about learning fun new techniques with detailed video tutorials as we knit a part of the sock each week for four weeks. By the end, you'll have an eye-catching pair of Color Popportunity Socks!

New to mystery knit-alongs? The Surprise Sock Along is perfect for knit-along novices. Each week's clues are more manageable than a typical mystery shawl knit-along, offering a mini knitting adventure with bite-sized sections to complete each week. By the end of July, you'll have a stunning pair of socks showcasing a symphony of stitches.

The pattern will be available June 15th on Ravelry.

Boscoe is sleeping with his emotional support shoe. Jackson puts shoes on the couch - he loves to carry them around. He doesn’t ruin them - just slobbers on them. One or the other will fall asleep on the couch touching the shoe.

Thanks for the ESC idea! I’ve just had my hip replaced and this will be a perfect knit to distract me and keep me company!

Hey Julie, I just dropped by online to see you’ve had some family challenges! Looks like your dad is coming through. He has a couple of angels in you and Beth. Sending him many healing vibes and sending you girls some calming and coping vibes.
