Rowan Edition 6

Fall arrived fast. We went from bright and sunny to rainy to cooler.

Our October 2025 Crazy Beautiful Club colorway is pumpkin spice and everything nice! This gourd-geous tonal orange colorway captures the essence of autumn leaves and crisp October days.

We have a shipment arriving from Emma’s on Thursday with the new Crazy Beautiful Club colour.

Another magazine coming from Rowan (fingers crossed this week) is Edition 6. The magazine is full of great garments.

A chic collection of 12 minimalist silhouettes worked in elegant winter whites adorned with intricate textures and techniques. A neutral canvas for you to reimagine in your favourite colourway. These classic everyday knits pick up different shades adding depth to your winter wardrobe.

I’m early tonight. We need to get dinner finished and ready for the Jays!!!! I don’t know if I’ll be able to knit during the game. I might be too busy chewing my fingernails. Beating the Yankees is three games would be amazing and totally unexpected.

Kaffe’s Palette

I’m so excited for this new magazine from Rowan. Kaffe Fassett designs in new colours of Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze. The patterns are so bright and cheery.

In a vibrant and rich curated palette by renowned designer Kaffe Fassett, this collection of eight designs showcases new shades of Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze in Kaffe’s signature style.  With simple shapes and accessories, these pieces let the striking geometric patterns and vibrant color combinations take center stage, celebrating colorwork knitting.

I have a new order in with Rowan hoping to receive the magazines before the launch on Wednesday. The yarn might not make it but everyone loves a new magazine to look at.

The new colours are amazing! Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze have been in Rowan’s yarn line for many, many years and are very popular.

Thee is something about this sweater that is calling my name. It is knit from sleeve to sleeve in Intarsia.

Thank you Kaffe for these beautiful designs.

Here is a video from Very Pink Knits demonstrating how to knit Intarisa. It is a technique that designers have moved away from lately.

Now it’s time for some football and knitting. It’s hard to believe that it is October - the weather today was amazing!

Christmas Sock Yarn

The Flotte Christmas Socke yarn for 2025 has arrived.

Metallic and regular are available in the store and online. One ball will make a pair of socks. The yarn will also be great for Christmas decorations and Christmas gnomes.

The non-metallic yarn is 75% wool and 25% polyamide. The metallic yarn is 75% wool, 20% polyamide and 5% metallic.

Jaunty is growing. The second ball has been joined. I tried to knit during the Jays game but I had to keep paying attention. It was a great game - hopefully we see more of that tomorrow.

Lynn and I had a great day in the store. Thank you to everyone who visited. Now it’s time to relax.

Frankie

Petiteknit has a new pattern - this is the Frankie Sweater (pattern purchased on Ravelry). This looks like a nice cozy sweater. Mette has posted pictures of Instagram and I’ve been watching for the pattern.
The Frankie Sweater is worked from the top down with raglan increases on the yoke. Short rows are worked along the back of the neck to shape the neckline. The sleeves are worked in the round on double-pointed needles or on a circular needle. The Frankie Sweater is worked with narrow stripes.

Frankie is knit with DK weight yarn. Here are some suggestions.

  • Estelle Superwash DK
  • Rowan Felted Tweed
  • The Fibre Co. Arranmore Light
  • Juniper Moon Patagonia

Lynn was with me today and she unpacked a lot of boxes and filled the shelves. As she was filling the shelves I updated the website.
  • Addi needles are restocked
  • Cascade 220 Heathers
  • Cascade 220 Superwash
  • Malabrigo Rios, Washted, Sock and Ultimate Sock
  • Rowan Felted Tweed restock - not the new colours
  • Cascade 220 Heathers, Cascade 220 and Cascade Eco
Every time she would tell me she was finished something I found another box for her to unpack. There is one more new yarn that I will blog about tomorrow. It’s almost time to close the store and then I’m going to have my hair cut. Dad, Beth and the dogs just arrived at the cottage. They are there until Monday afternoon so I have a few days of quiet.

Mystery Gnome Knitalong

The first clue for Sara Schira’s MKAL comes out tomorrow. You still have time to get your yarn - we have amazing colourways in stock. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.
Because Gnumpkin and Gnettle are a mystery gnomes, I can’t tell you much about them. The ‘skills used’ listed below will give you a bit of a sense of what you’ll be doing, but don’t get intimidated. It’s all just knitting, and you’ll be great at it. Plus wonkiness is gnominess.

I really wanted to blog last night but I was exhausted and frustrated when I got home. Our Rowan shipment is still sitting in Mississauga and we have no clue when it will arrive. FedEx can’t tell us when customs will release the boxes. I’m working with Rowan to make sure we at least have books for the launch.
I have appointments that day that can’t be moved.

It’s time to close the store and head home. There hasn’t been much knitting this week and that is going to change tonight. I’m going to put my feet up with a cup of tea, my knitting and lots of baseball.
