Back at Work

We had an amazing time at Camp with Laura Bryant. Her classes were awesome. She brought many garments for our fashion show. Here are a few.
This shawl is stunning!!! It is from Vogue Knitting and I am ordering yarn from Laura to make one for myself.

Laura is all about colour!

There were many Rowan garments too. In previous years I did a fashion show brochure that was printed and everyone could follow along. This year Laura brought her garments and I didn't know what was coming. That makes it harder to write a brochure so the models carried signs.

New shawl cuffs arrived while we were away and should be on the website this week.
While unpacking boxes we did some rearranging. Project bags from Zigzag Stitches. These are beautifully made in Ontario.

I'm early today. I did get a bit of knitting done last night and am ready to do more tonight. After the colourwork in the yoke there are more short rows. I finished those last night and now it's around and around until it's time for the armholes.

Lynn has separated for her sleeves. It looks great!
Baseball, football and a new Love it or List it Vancouver. A good TV evening.

The Last Night

Yesterday afternoon we did some group shots. Comfort Fade Cardigans in very different colours. You can tell that we love Andrea Mowry patterns.
Nightshifts
Weekenders.

I have more but it's late and I need some sleep.
My students were hard at work. They did a great job with Colour Dominance.
Laura taught Activated Colour. I wish I could have sat in on this.
Color choice for visually active patterns like chevrons, mosaics, and slip stitches can make or break the impact of your work. Learn what Laura has learned through years of discovery, including studying Missoni. Lots of hands-on swatching with simple pattern stitches illustrates how to achieve a dynamic balance in value and hue contrast. Turn that ordinary pattern into extraordinary! Especially useful for showing the beauty of hand-dyed multi-colors.

We had a great student fashion show tonight. So many talented knitters. Everyone received a door prize and I want to thank our amazing suppliers.

The weekend has been great but I haven't knit a stitch. My Newleaf might become short sleeved. And cropped if I'm going to be wearing it in Woodstock.

We have one more class in the morning. I will be teaching Brioche. Then we pack up and head home. The afternoon and evening will be spend with my feet up. If you don't see a blog post tomorrow I will share lots of pictures on Monday.

What happens at Camp...

We just got back to the room after the fashion show. It was a long one this year. Over 50 garments. We had a photographer and I will have pictures next week.

This morning I went for a walk and took pictures from around the resort.

I have taken a class with Laura Bryant and knew that she is an amazing teacher. The ladies found that out this morning.
Beth taught needle felting this morning. She took great pictures that I will share when we get home. The ladies jumped right in and 'poked, poked, poked' until they had finished their 3D felting projects.

There are no pictures from last night's game because what happens at Camp stays at Camp. I will tell you that there were a lot of laughs. Everyone had a great time.

Breakfast is at 8am and then I am teaching two classes tomorrow. I need some sleep.

Knitting Camp before the fun begins

We made it safely to Bayview-Wildwood for Camp. It rained lightly for most of the ride but thankfully it stopped when we arrived. It is definitely sweater weather!
We stopped at Webers on our way.

I've stayed in the same cabin for the past 25 years and it is newly renovated. Half the rooms at Bayview-Wildwood are finished and the rest will be ready for Camp in 2020.

The mini yarn shop is taking shape. Lynn will be bringing some more yarn tomorrow and we'll be ready.

Survivor is on and it's time for Tribal Council. I'll have more pictures tomorrow.

New Patterns

Seacross is a seamless sweater knitted from the top down with a stunning five-colour yoke. The pattern includes two sets of instructions for the colourwork: one for knitters who are comfortable stranding several colours at once and one with swiss darning instructions for those who are less comfortable. Lore creates a light and lofty fabric that blooms beautifully when washed – perfect for colourwork!
Pattern: Seacross (purchased on Ravelry)
Yarn: The Fibre Co. Lore

I finished my swatch for Camp last night and did it in Lore. The yarn is beautiful to knit with.

Bowness is a classic raglan sweater knitted top down in the round. The body features a grid-like knit/purl texture whilst the sleeves are in simple stockinette. Our Donegal tweed Arranmore adds gorgeous depth of colour and nubby texture to this wardrobe staple.
Pattern: Bowness (purchase the pattern on Ravelry)
Yarn: The Fibre Co. Arranmore

I have knit a garment in Arranmore and LOVE this yarn. You can't go wrong with Donegal tweed.
Last night I finished the swatch for my class. Now I need to finish the notes. I thought I would lull you with pretty pictures and then you wouldn't realize that I didn't write anything tonight.😘

Beth and I are heading up north tomorrow morning. There isn't a big rush. Except for the fact that Beth is expecting Webers for lunch on our way. If you don't know about Webers, it was the place to stop on the way to the cottage when we were kids. It's been around forever! Since 1963 - I googled it. Stopping brings back great memories of our childhood.
