Ponderosa

Wool & Pine has a new sock pattern called Ponderosa Socks. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

We love a classic handknit sock—you’ll catch us rocking that Birkenstock-and-wool-sock lifestyle year-round. There’s just something about a handmade pair of socks that makes every step cozier.

Ponderosa Socks take inspiration from their namesake Ponderosa Sweater and Hat, beloved for their plump cables and timeless feel. These socks bring that same bold texture to your feet, blending rugged charm with everyday comfort. Knit from the top down with a classic heel flap and gusset, they fit like a dream and hold their shape beautifully over time.

  • Yardage: 350 (425, 510) yds / 320 (388, 466) m
    • If making the largest size, consider a contrast heel and toe to avoid running out of yarn (~25g contrast color recommended).

Mr. UPS brought us a box from Emma’s and I put together new combinations for the Musselburgh Hat (pattern purchased on Ravelry).
We used two skeins of Emma’s Practically Perfect Halves. All the colours are available online and in the store.

I loved going to Ponderosa when I was young. It was always a treat when mom and dad took us. They had the best hamburgers that were rectangle.

It’s time for the annual Andrea Mowry March to May KAL.

WHAT
Any DreaReneeKnits sweater pattern! (WIPS are welcome!) Find all patterns here!

Any DreaReneeKnits shawl pattern! (WIPS are welcome!) Find all patterns here!

SHARE
Post photos of your yarn and projects so we can all oo and ahhh! Share on Instagram as well with the hashtag #DRKMARCH2MAYKAL25 so we can follow along and give you some hearts! (I also love to be tagged so I don’t miss your photos - you can tag me with @dreareneeknits and hashtag #dreareneeknits).

RULES
Just have fun! This is a very casual KAL and a space created for all of YOU to get together digitally! Andrea will pop in now and then to say hello, knit on her own sweater, and of course to check out all of your gorgeous makes!

Many of us don’t have a local knitting group, so this is a great way to get together online with other knitters and enjoy the company and support of our peers as we dive into a new knit! Cheer each other on, share tips and make some new friends! (Andrea met one of her absolute best friends during a KAL!) Everyone is welcome here!

PATTERN SUPPORT
Nothing warms our hearts more than seeing knitters help each other out. We still learn new tips all the time and are so grateful for the shared knowledge of other knitters! If you have a specific question about a pattern please email:
drkpatternhelp@gmail.com

These forums can get very chatty, and we would hate to miss someone who needs help. This email address is the promptest and most reliable way to get your questions answered! Please also remember that this forum is public, so we do ask that you don’t post any specific instructions (or pictures of the instructions) from the pattern as that would be a copyright violation.

PRIZES
Oh yes - there will be prizes! To be entered to win, participate here in the forums or on Instagram and make sure to post a picture of your finished sweater in the FO thread by midnight EST on May 31, 2025!

I need to cast on a new project. It’s been a while since I’ve started something new.

This afternoon I started to look at colours for What the Fade?! I’m going to use Hedgehog Skinny Singles. Hopefully our boxes arrive tomorrow because I want to see the new colours before deciding.

You can purchase the pattern for What the Fade?! on Ravelry.

Quadruple your fading fun!! This shawl starts off with back to back fades thanks to beautiful, bouncy two color brioche! We then end with an epic band of all 6 colors faded together with some relaxing garter stitch! To celebrate this amazing fade, we’ll finish it off with faded tassels, and then wrap it around and wear it all year long! Included in the pattern are links to helpful video tutorials!

I love the tassels and will be adding them to my shawl.

This is a good time to pull out a WIP for an Andrea Mowry pattern and get it finished. I have a few of those too. Are you going to join me for the KAL?

I could be a little late opening tomorrow. We’re going to see our lawyer in the morning to sign all the papers for our new house and the sale of our house.

Boxes

Mr. FedEx came early this morning with our boxes of Mode at Rowan. The yarn and patterns are available online and in the store. Now I need to find somewhere to put them.
We put dad to work making boxes last night. Then I took them upstairs to fill. I have a shoe problem. There are a lot of boxes of them.
This morning I put together more boxes to ship yarn. My shoulder is getting sore 😂 but I’ll be happy to put more together tomorrow to ship again.

It feels like spring is coming

It was a beautiful day in Ancaster today. There are puddles everywhere and the snow is starting to melt.

I was working on the website and realized that I missed this magazine last spring. There are 4 designs knit in Rowan Summerlite 4ply.

The magazine has been added to the website.

We have lots of Summerlite 4ply in stock and more will be coming the week of March 10th.

The Spring/Summer Rowan will launch on March 14th. There will be new patterns using Summerlite 4ply.

Summerlite 4ply is made using 100% of the finest cotton resulting in a beautifully soft, matt yarn, which boasts a wonderful, summery tonal colour palette. This yarn is a perfect choice for spring and summer designs such as a pretty shrug or evening time cardigan. It has brilliant stitch definition, meaning that all types of textures are showcased perfectly.

I visited Trish today and now my hair feels much better. After running a few errands I came home to place orders. There was some paperwork that the lawyers need for Friday morning and I think Beth and I have it figured out.

Mode at Rowan should be arriving tomorrow. Once we unpack the box I will put the pattern inventory online.
Fred loves the nice weather. We can’t get him in the house.

Mode at Rowan Cotton DK

Mode at Rowan Cotton DK should be arriving sometime this week.

Spun from the finest natural cotton fibres, our Cotton DK is your ultimate go-to for quality cotton yarn. Luxuriously soft to the touch and exceptionally durable, your garments will remain as stunning and comfortable as the day they were made. Machine washable, this cotton is as practical as it is beautiful. This premium DK yarn is a must-have staple for your everyday yarn collection.

The yarn is available online to preorder.

For spring Mode at Rowan is using Cotton DK and Alpaca Haze. Some garments are just one yarn and for a few garments both yarns are used.

Here are all the patterns. They are on the website for you to see the yarn and needles used. Once they arrive I will make them available to purchase.

Yesterday was spent relaxing and knitting. I spent a lot of time in the store today. Boxes were shipped - thank you to everyone who ordered. I finished a newsletter that is going out tonight and then wrote my post. When I got home I worked on the website to get all the Mode up and ready for the shipment to arrive.

After dinner I’m back to packing.
