Hello December

It’s (almost) the most wonderful time of the year! A time when we could all use an extra skein or two of peace and love. Our December 2024 colorway is just that! It’s merry and bright, like the most colorful string of lights, and totally embodies our Floridian holiday spirit.

The December Crazy Beautiful Club should be arriving sometime this week. Once UPS has the box on Monday or Tuesday I will add the yarn to the website.

We suggest

Bobbin
Cactus Flower
Oops! I Did It Again

I opened my Smalliday Set from Emma’s. Day one is complete. I am making Flora Daze (the same shawl I did last year) but this year I’m using fingering. You can purchase the pattern for Flora Daze on Ravelry.

This is Briochex from Lesley Anne Robinson. She used the Emma’s Smalliday Set for her blanket. I love this pattern and you can purchase it on Ravelry.

Happy December!! Cozy up this holiday season with a brand new hexagon blanket pattern, perfect for all your Smalliday sets, Advents and mini skeins!

Briochex : A beautifully intricate blanket made of hexagons created with two-color brioche motifs.

Yarn Notes:
This pattern was specifically designed for Emma’s Yarn Smalliday set for 2024! For the entire month of December 2024, the colors of the yarns that I used will be desaturated so as not to spoil the beautiful colors (in case you are opening your minis like a typical holiday set, one day at a time). It uses 24 mini skeins (approximately 20g each, see below for yardage / meterage). This pattern will work with ANY minis you may have, especially if you have any Practically Perfect Smalls sets in your stash. Each hex is meant to be made every 2 days, so you open Smalls 1 & 2 to make Hex 1, Smalls 3 & 4 to make Hex 2, etc. The yardage / meterage is an approximation based on using almost ALL of each mini skein. Please note that I’ve added a 5% buffer for all skeins to account for differences in gauge and tension. I did have yarn leftover when I completed each hex.

This pattern has both written instructions and charts for each Hex Motif. Included in this original pattern are 3 Motifs that you can choose from. You can make a total of 12 hexes from one Emma’s Yarn Smalliday set, which makes a small lap blanket. I chose to make 4 hexes of each motif, but you can mix and match. I highly recommend working from the charts for the best knitting experience.

My other knitting. This was at the airport.
Hotel room pictures are always awful and my room doesn’t have much lighting. I was able to knit some on the plane before closing my eyes for a few hours. I made it safely and was pretty wound up when I got here. By the time I went to sleep it was almost 2am here which is 5am at home. I had some sleep and then an afternoon nap. There are big plans for tomorrow including going to Bellagio to see the Conservatory. Tuesday night I’m going to see a hockey game - Edmonton is in Vegas. I’ve never seen Edmonton play live and I’ve been to a lot of games in Toronto, Buffalo, Vegas, Vancouver and Anaheim. I hope it’s a great game.

Have a good evening. I came upstairs to write but now it’s dinner time. I think I’m having pizza. They have a pizza place in the hotel that sells slices and they are really good!
