Isn’t She Grand

Yarn: Emma’s Theme Pack - Super Silky - Isn’t She Grand. We are out of this kit but more will be here on Thursday when UPS delivers our box from Emma’s. You can also knit the pattern using a Theme Pack in Practically Perfect Sock.

Now it’s time to knit. Dad and Beth are watching Top Gun Maverick. I’m going to say goodnight and join them. 

Thanks to all who visited today. Lynn and I ran all day and it was great! Mr. UPS picked up a pile of boxes  and dad delivered the rest to Canada Post and Purolator. Fibre goodies are on the way.

New Samples

We have a new store sweater. Lynn put it on and squealed. She said it was so soft and so light.

Pattern: Hale from Mode at Rowan. We have a few copies left in the store or you can purchase the pattern on Ravelry. More patterns and yarn will be coming in a few weeks.

Yarn: Mode Softest Alpaca

This comfortable high-neck sweater is knitted in Softest Alpaca. Clever construction – the sides are picked up and knitted out from the central body - adds interest and texture to this stylish knit. With a high neck and garter stitch drop sleeves, it is a classic shape with a modern look.

I made this cowl before knitting my Plumped Up Cowl to get back into the swing of Brioche knitting.

Boxing Week

There is still time to shop our sale. 

Thank you to everyone who visited yesterday. Lynn and I were running all day. I got home, had dinner and went to bed. 

I have more to write but I need to pack boxes for UPS. Thank you to all who mail ordered as well. 

The Day After

Our house was full last night and we had a great time. It was very loud and everyone had fun. The meal was great! We had to move our couches out of the way so that everyone could sit at tables for dinner. Last night we were all too tired to put the couches back where they belong. Dad sat in one of my knitting chairs to watch tv. Boscoe decided that he needed to sit in the other chair. I sat at the kitchen table to watch tv.

We had breakfast this morning and then did some cleaning. After a nap I went to the store for a few hours. There are lots of boxes going out tomorrow. Thankfully Mr. UPS will be picking up again. No more driving to the UPS store. I can’t really complain about that because it was dad’s job for the past few weeks. He loves being out and about and hates being bored so it kept him busy. 

I started this Traveler Shawl a while ago. I’m using Dream State in the colour Overboard. It has been calling my name so I dug it out for tonight’s knitting.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and happy holidays from our family to yours. We don’t have a lot of family photos - this was taken at the cottage.

Dad quickly helped me roll another ball of yarn from my Advent kit. Boscoe wanted to help.

Now it’s time to peel 20 lbs of potatoes. Then vacuum because it doesn’t matter times you do it there is still Jackson hair everywhere.

Happy Christmas Eve

I have two projects that are almost finished. Above is Framed (needs both sleeves) and below is my Tessellated Vest (needs one arm band and the neck band). I should pull them out this week and finish them but…. We are hosting Christmas dinner tomorrow with 35 people coming. I won’t have much time to knit this afternoon or tomorrow. Then Thursday will be spent cleaning and trying to relax. Do I really want to pull out an old project and figure out where I am? It would be a lot easier to start something new. 😜

There are other projects as well but many have been packed up and are in storage.

Dad picked up the Christmas cake at Jones Bakery this afternoon. When I got home from work I took a look and this is what I found.

Birds of a Feather

Lynn was with me today and helped to straighten the Hedgehog Fibres Skinny Single/Kidsilk Lace wall. If you haven’t checked yet here are some of the yarns/kits/books that will be on sale for Boxing Week.

We brought out one of my all time favourite samples. Birds of a Feather (pattern purchased on Ravelry). The shawl is knit with 2 skeins of Skinny Singles and a skein of Kidsilk Lace. The sample was knit with the colour Bandit.

Lynn finished her first sock and it looks awesome!! The pattern is called Step Into Christmas and you can purchase it on Ravelry.

Dad and I are about to wind colour 11. I won’t make it for Christmas Day but maybe by the end of the month.

Rabbit Hole

I cast off another Traveler Cowl this afternoon. 

I knit this one in Dyed in the Wool Rabbit Hole. I’m a bit obsessed with this colour. The cowl is beautiful and I can’t wait to wear it. 

The cowl takes three skeins and I knit it on 3.75mm needles. Alex will block it and sew the back seam after Christmas for me.

Romi Hill has a new pattern called Winter’s Finery. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

The pinyon pine forest wears a cloak of white in the winter, with icy tendrils trailing after the pogonip. The Winter’s Finery shawlette echoes the beauty of a snow flurry amongst the evergreen branches, with an edge decorated for the solstice. 

It’s a satisfyingly simple pattern, and a great introduction to lace. The top uses a T increase to present a beautiful smooth triangle, and the lace charts (with written instructions also included) are straightforward. The edging is finished up with an Icelandic bind-off that leaves a sturdy edge, and yarn scraps are used for the wee decorations along the bottom. It’s perfect for every day, or for special occasions.

The shawl is knit with one skein of fingering weight yarn. 

After work Beth and I visited our new house. We had some questions for the owners who helped us with everything. I’m very excited and wish we were moving in January.

I’m tired today and wasn’t sure if I could come up with a blog post. Dad and Beth gave me a cruise for my birthday/Christmas. Check in opened at midnight last night so it was late/early to bed. I got the best boarding time so it was worth it.
