Easy Triangle Scarf

This is a new pattern (free on their website) from Churchmouse Yarns.

A shallow, garter-stitch triangle, this free pattern is a breeze to knit. Long, tapered ends offer lots of styling and tying options, while an eyelet edging adds interest. This scarf’s clean simplicity lets its chosen yarn shine. This version: fun, flecked fuzz!

We knit this Easy Triangle Scarf in a tweedy, red shade of Rowan Fine Tweed Haze. This DK-weight yarn is a fascinating blend of South African mohair and super-fine alpaca, supported by polyamide, cotton, and polyester. All along its bouncy, chainette-style strand, contrasting flecks of fiber peek out of a romantic, fuzzy halo. Warm and sooo soft, Fine Tweed Haze is such a fun yarn—and perfect for a cuddly scarf!

Fine Tweed Haze is a finer version of our cherished Tweed Haze. With a very similar blend – including superfine alpaca and extra fine merino wool – this dreamy yarn boasts the same contemporary tweed look. Its beautiful haze is punctuated with contrasting tweedy flecks making it an interesting choice for single-colour designs, whilst also being perfect for lightweight colourwork - the beautifully balanced palette is ideal for creating compelling Fair Isles.

See all the colours. You need 2 balls and 4.5mm needles to make the scarf.

Lang Linello

The new colours of Lang Linello will be arriving when I get home next week.

Linello is a beautiful yarn made of linen, cotton and just a small percentage of viscose. The composition is not only breath-taking but it’s also breathable material. Perfect for hot summer days and balmy evenings.

40% Linen, 32% Cotton and 28% Viscose

280m on a 100gram ball

The suggested needle sizes are 3.5mm - 4mm. Lang is suggesting a tension of 20 stitches = 4”. I am suggesting that you swatch the yarn to see the gauge that you like.

This scarf is called Easy (you can find it here on Ravelry - there are a lot of patterns called Easy) and we used one ball of Linello and 3.25mm needles.

Churchmouse Yarns knit their Bias Before and After Scarf with 2 balls of Linello. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

THE DESIGN
“Soft, soothing stripes.”
Our Bias ‘Before & After’ Scarf is one of those patterns that is a perfect balance of mindless and meditative. We’re soothed by the simplicity of the stockinette, and engaged by the little bit of business at the ends of the knit rows that creates the bias detail! And the fabric’s brilliant, post-blocked transformation is always so satisfying!

With its playful, eye-catching range of self-striping colors, Lang Linello brings even more adventure to your Bias ‘Before & After’ Scarf. This worsted-weight yarn is an inviting blend of linen, cotton, and viscose—breezy, downy, and drapey. Linello’s a great choice for cool accessories and for those who are sensitive to wool. And it’s such a joy to watch the self-striping shades unfurl as you knit!

THE DETAILS
FINISHED SIZE
Approx. 7 x 98”/18 x 249cm, after blocking (bias width across stitches in direction of needle will measure approx. 11”/28cm).

YARN
2 skeins Lang Linello (306 yds/280m each); Or approx. 500 yds/457m of an equivalent worsted-weight yarn.

Sample shown in color 09.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 8 (5mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge.

You will follow the pattern but use 5mm needles instead of the needles that are written.

A few people on Ravelry used Linello to make the Sophie Scarf. They used 4mm needles and the finished scarf looks great.

Someone knit The Shift by Andrea Mowry with 2 balls of Linello.

Diana is knitting us a store sample of the Traveler Cowl in Linello. She is using colour 56. I think we are going to knit the cowl on 3.5mm needles. I don’t want the stitches too tight but I don’t want them so loose that the cowl sags.

Rosey Pink

The February Crazy Beautiful Club colour from Emma’s has arrived and it is awesome!

Romance is in the air! February 2025 is a lovely shade of rosey pink - with a bit of sweetness sprinkled throughout!

This colour would make a gorgeous Sophie Scarf (pattern purchased on Ravelry). You need one skein of yarn and 3.5mm, 3.75mm or 4mm needles. It will depend on how tight or loose you want your stitches.

The Sophie Scarf is worked back and forth in one piece, from tip to tip in garter stitch with built-in i-cord edges. The smaller size Sophie Scarf reaches around the neck once, while the larger size can wrap around the neck twice.

For the past week I’ve been working on a Traveler Shawl. I was able to finish the first half and have picked up to start the second section. I’m using Dyed in the Wool in the colour Bamboloni.

Here is the start of my vacation knitting. I like to have it cast on and started when I get on the plane.

The people who purchased our house were doing their last walk through today. It was a scramble to tidy before heading to work. Our house is clean but sometimes a mess piles up (think 3 knitting projects by my chair or dog toys everywhere). Then there are the tumbleweeds of Jackson hair.

I’m not sure how much time I’m going to have to write posts while I’m away. The ship I’m on is huge and I will need lots of time to explore. And eat. And knit. Over the past few days I’ve been writing posts that are schedule to publish while I’m away. I will try and write a few vacation posts along the way.

Have a great week. I plan on enjoying the sun.

Two More Sleeps

My yarn is wound and ready to go. I chose Dyed in the Wool in the new colour Side Quest. The Traveler Cowl takes 3 skeins so I wound them all and put each skein in a baggie. I number the skeins and mark down if I’m knitting from the inside or the outside. This way I will have a smooth colour transition and you won’t know that I started a new ball. Putting the skeins in bags keeps them neat when I jam them in my suitcase.
Alex has some blocking to do. This is her Frame Your Face Cowl (pattern purchased on Ravelry) knit with Dyed in the Wool (Always Yours) and Suri Silk (Lemongrass - held double strand). You need 2 skeins of each yarn for the cowl. The cowl is so soft - I will share pictures after it’s blocked.

Alex has started a Musselburgh hat for herself using Dyed in the Wool Afternoon Delight.
We had crazy snow at the store this afternoon. I locked up at 4:20 and just got home. Over 3 hours for a drive that normally takes 20 minutes. The roads in Ancaster were crazy icy. Cars were getting stuck trying to go up slight hills and roads were being closed because of it. I’m going to say goodnight and try to relax.

Our backyard looks very pretty.

Musselburgh Hat and Malabrigo Chunky

I had today’s post all planned and then Deidre came in with Beth’s Musselburgh hat. It looks amazing. We used two skeins of Dyed in the Wool in the colour Dark Side. I picked two skeins that were very different so it looks like two different hats.

The Malabrigo Chunky is out and on display in the store. I need to tweak it after my trip but it works for now. I started thinking about patterns and found Northward which is a free pattern on Ravelry from Tin Can Knits.
Simple chunky cables make the perfect hat to keep noggins warm in the long northern winter

Deidre took home some Malabrigo Chunky to make the Plumped Up Cowl. We need a store sample made with the yarn and the cowl will show off the colours. Deidre needed something to knit so it’s a win win. I chose Arco Iris and Hollyhock. It’s going to be bright.

Here is the Plumped Up Cowl (pattern purchased on Ravelry) that I knit with Spincycle Plump.

I’ve been trying to get caught up on my Temperature Blanket. Right now I’m three days behind. I hope to catch up before I go.

Dinner is finished and the kitchen is clean. Now to knit.

Aileas

I love Isabell Kraemer’s patterns. They are well written and she really understands sizing.

This is Aileas (pattern purchased on Ravelry). The cardigan is knit in worsted weight yarn so you have many options.

Aileas is worked seamlessly from the top down and features decorative faux cables on both fronts, the back and sleeves. Knitting starts at the shoulders. Back and both fronts are worked to underarm length, then joined and worked back and forth to final length with set-in pockets. Sleeves are picked up and worked in the round from the top down using short-rows to shape the sleeve caps. Collar and button bands are worked last.

The pattern is from 2017 but you wouldn’t guess that. It looks like a pattern that has been recently published.

I couldn’t find a good picture - sorry. Here is our store sample knit out of Woolstok.

It was nice walking into the store this morning and having it in order. Lynn did a great job!!!

It’s time for The Price is Right. Have a good evening - I hope you’re playing with yarn like I’m going to.

Ladies and Magentlemen

We have new yarn from Emma’s. Mr. UPS brought us these beauties today. The February Crazy Beautiful Color was in the box and we will share it on Saturday. You can see pretty colours of Suri Silk in the top left corner of the box.

One skein of Suri Silk will make the Frond of You Cowl. You can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

Frond of you is a seriously soft cowl! It’s the perfect addition to your cold weather wardrobe. Designed in a luxurious blend of Suri alpaca and silk from Emma’s Yarn, it features a delicate lace detail and soft halo that adds a touch of romance to your look. The length is adjustable to your taste and knit as written, is long enough to pull up over your head when it gets chilly, providing extra warmth and comfort. The perfect piece for stylish and cozy winter days!

This is a great pattern for new lace knitters!

Ladies and Magentlemen is a new colour.
Lynn came in again today to do more straightening. The shelves of Rowan Felted Tweed are back in order and restocked.
