Adore

Kim Hargreaves latest (and last) magazine arrived today. Adore is available online and in the store.

I don’t have a picture of my cardigan but this is the first Kim Hargreaves pattern that I knit. It was from Rowan Magazine 8. I think it is in the cedar chest in my parent’s basement. I have always been a huge fan of Kim Hargreaves and it is sad to see her retire.
This is another Kim sweater that I knit. It is from Rowan Magazine #10. I really need to look in the cedar chest!
Caitlin Hunter (Boyland Knitworks) has a new pattern. You can purchase the pattern for Halu on Ravelry.

Halu sweater is knit top down in the round and features a subtle front and back V-neck shaped neckline which transitions to circular lace yoke design. Short rows are worked after the yoke chart for a comfortable fit, and instructions are included for adjusting the body length as preferred. The sleeves feature lace at the cuff which can be omitted if preferred.

The sweater is knit with a strand of fingering weight and a strand of laceweight mohair or you can knit the sweater in a DK weight with no mohair.

Le Petit Lambswool and Le Petit Silk & Mohair from Biches and Buches would be perfect for the pattern.

Dad and Lucy just arrived home from Myrtle Beach. Beth met them with groceries and texted me a picture of Lucy. She looks great. And Beth says she smells great!

Kim Hargreaves

ADORE is the latest collection from Kim Hargreaves. A nostalgic collection of twenty-one patterns that encapsulates everything knitters around the world love about Kim's designs. Sophisticated, elegant and timeless, Adore is the perfect swan song, the ultimate book from this much loved designer.

The magazine should be in the store next week.

This striking sweater is worked in Brushed Fleece and the Fair Isle pattern in shades of Alpaca Classic, for which three ends are held together in varying combinations. This subtle gradient in the monochrome shades adds a lovely depth to the beautiful all-over pattern. This relaxed fit sweater, trimmed with deep ribs will keep you super snug this winter.

This elegant sweater is knitted using a strand of Kid Classic held together with a strand of Kidsilk Haze. This heavenly combination creates a wonderfully warm and sumptuous fabric, and the funnel neck and wide sleeves add to the effortless sophistication. Choose to knit it plain or opt for a striped version.

This fitted peplum jacket is a timeless classic. Nipped in at the waist and worked in all-over moss stitch, this Felted Tweed jacket is neatly finished off with a chic button fastening and smart collar.

This slouchy raglan sweater is a dream to knit and wear, with four strands of Kidsilk Haze held together throughout. Choose to knit it in a single colour or try the shaded option which sees three shades of Kidsilk Haze cleverly worked together to create an ombre effect. This simple knit uses stocking stitch throughout and has a flattering polo neck.

Yesterday Beth decided what she wanted for her birthday gift. Her birthday was in July and we had been talking about a new iPhone. She decided on a new iPad instead. I ordered it yesterday and it will arrive at the beginning of November. The Apple site should be off limits to me. 👿 Today I went to Rogers and bought a new iPhone. The picture of my Inclinations Shawl was taken on the new phone,
The camera on the new phone is far superior to my old phone. I’m so excited.

I’m going to make new kits on Wednesday just so I can take pictures.

Drift

We have a new magazine from Kim Hargreaves.

The magazine is on the website along with pictures of all the designs.

A collection of easy summer style and casual comfort. The designs worked in delicate shades are relaxed and effortless to wear. Delight in the simple pleasures of each new day, the nurturing touch of morning sun on your skin dew on the grass and blossom laden trees, find your joy in a simpler life.

Diana stopped by with a new shawl.

I went in a very different direction for the colours of this shawl. The yarn is tosh merino light from the MadTosh & Shibui collection. We used Lovegrass, Prickly Pear and Fiddleneck.

Some of you might have guessed the designer and pattern name - maybe you’ve knit the sister shawl.

This is Ambah O’Brien’s Lilli Pill Shawl (pattern purchase on Etsy).

Combine classic stripes with lace for a relaxed shawl to enjoy year-round. Asymmetrical triangular shaping is easy to wear and so satisfying to knit. Choose boldly contrasting yarns or knit your Lilli Pilli up with a more subtle variegated yarn and solid colour combination. Or go with classic neutrals for a shawl you reach for regularly over the years to come. Inspired by my loved Lilli Pilli Wrap, I had long been wanting to make myself another when inspiration struck, and I decided to create a shawl version.

I am waiting for Lynn to get home from the cottage for more pictures.

The new Dyed in the Wool has also been added to the website.

The hockey game is on and my knitting is calling.

Claret

Thea Colman has a new pattern and it is gorgeous. Meet Claret - you can purchase the pattern on Ravelry.

Claret is a deeply textured, cabled sweater featuring cables in diagonal lines. At both hem and wrist, the cable motif emerges from the cast on rib in beautiful V-shaped sections, which are then worked upwards to create a deeply striking fabric.

The center cable on the front of the sweater opens up to create a clean edge for the deep V-neck, and this edge is brought around the shoulders and back neckline for a beautifully finished look around the collar.

Claret’s sleeves echo the body with a single panel of the cables, and the back of the sweater provides some contrast, using a simpler version of the chart - and some less involved knitting!

As always with my sweaters, Claret is designed so you can personalize the fit if needed. Along the sides of the body and under arms, sections are worked in reverse stockinette to allow for easy modifications in circumference around body or sleeve, and notes are also in pattern for lengthening body, sleeves, or armholes as desired.

Claret is worked from the bottom up in pieces and seamed. Seams are straight and simple, and sweater is designed with garter edge stitches to make the assembly hassle free.

All cables are both charted and written.
