New Project

I was in the store very early this morning to ship boxes which have been dropped off at Purolator and UPS. A bag of yarn came home with me because I need to start a new project. It’s two weeks until the move and picking up a partly finished project isn’t in the cards right now. I’m going to knit Elah again. This time I’m going to use Le Lambswool (Soft Blue Green) like we used for our store sample that Lynn is wearing.

Elah is worked seamlessly from the top down. Fronts are worked in lace pattern, while the back is worked in Stockinette stitch. Knitting starts with the provisional cast on of the shoulders for the fronts (you will first work the right front, then the left front). Once the short row shaped shoulder slope is done, the front is worked flat to underarm. Shoulder stitches are picked up from the provisional CO of both front shoulders to work the back to the same length. At underarm both fronts and back are joined to work the body top down back and forth to the bottom hem. As the front ribbing is built in, there is no finishing required. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the arm openings to work the sleeves in Stockinette stitch top down in rounds to the cuffs.

Two years ago we did a KAL for Elah and everyone who knit the cardigan loved it.

I even swatched this afternoon to make sure I was on the correct size needles. You read it here. I SWATCHED!!!! That doesn’t happen very often so I’m proud of myself.

It’s a good thing we have a big parking lot at the store because it shrunk over the weekend.

Dinner is finished and it’s time to knit. Dad was supposed to pick up boxes from the movers today but he forgot. I can’t pack without boxes so I might as well knit. 😘

Packing boxes

Today was spent packing boxes and shoveling snow.

There is a pile starting in my room.

We had a crazy amount of snow yesterday and then the winds came up today. The backyard is filled with drifts. Boscoe and Jackson don’t want to spend time outside - there is too much snow and it’s too cold.

Unfortunately the city didn’t plow our road until 3 this afternoon. That was the first time since the snow started on Saturday. There was a lot of snow on the road and the plow pushed it back into the driveway. It took a while to make it so we can get out in the morning.

There was a bit of knitting this afternoon. I’m caught up on my Temperature Blanket. 

Now it’s time to get back to my tape gun and boxes. The official moving date is March 6th which is going to be here before we know it.

Linen Traveler

We have another Traveler Cowl in the store.

Linello is a beautiful yarn made of linen, cotton and just a small percentage of viscose. The composition is not only breath-taking but it’s also a very breathable material. Perfect for hot summer days and balmy evenings, this yarn features beautiful long stretches of colour. 

40% Linen, 32% Cotton, 28% Viscose 

Machine wash cool, lay flat to dry.

It is a much lighter version and would be perfect for a spring evening. We hear knitters remarking that wool is too warm for them so a Linello version would be perfect.

I took a quick picture outside of my Traveler Shawl. Now the colours really show up.

Jackson took one of Beth’s shoes out into the snow. Carrying around a shoe is the best thing in the world.

Lying in and eating fresh snow is awesome as well.

Dad made muffins after dinner.

I hope everyone had a good day. We had a crazy amount of snow here. The roads in our neighbourhood haven’t been plowed yet. Our driveway is going to be a mess again when they do. Now it’s time to relax and knit a bit more. There wasn’t much knitting today because I took a long nap. A lazy Sunday afternoon is the best.

Tomorrow I’ll spend some time on the website - we received a few boxes on Friday and I need to put the yarn online.

Quill

Alex came in yesterday wearing a beautiful shawl. This is Quill from Jared Flood (pattern purchased on Ravelry) 

Quill is a square that you double over to wear it as a shawl. Alex is going to knit the shawl again for a friend in Emma’s Practically Perfect Sock. Alex’s shawl is the smaller size.

Alex also made this pattern a few times and gifted it as a baby blanket.

I think the shawl would look amazing in Emma’s Super Silky.

I purchased the pattern last night. I was going to start the shawl when Diana emailed me that she finished her project and needed another one. She is going to knit the shawl in the larger size using Super Silky in the colour Ladies & Magentlemen.

Dinner is finished and we are waiting for the hockey game to start. I am 7 days behind on my Temperature blanket so that will be my TV knitting tonight.

I love the colours.

Dad is working beside me. They are bidding on a job on Tuesday and he is finishing the estimating. He has all the numbers written down and is adding them in his head. The only problem is that he talks while he is adding and I’m having a hard time concentrating on what I want to write.

I hope to open the store tomorrow morning. We’ll see if the snow starts early. If I can get there I will open but we might close early. The roads in my neighbourhood weren’t plowed until 10pm last night and they didn’t do a good job. The road was very icy when I came home tonight.
